Hi Jenna....I am also an actor. I too flew to NY to see Jessie Mueller in Waitress. Her performance was wonderful but full credit to Morissette for doing an amazing job. Morissette could easily step into the role of Jenna. Best of luck...maybe c u on the picket lines! lol

She is not merely singing the song, but she feels and conveys the emotions to us, a master story-teller of an artist, an all-around performer. I can see through your eyes you were drawn in, you almost got teary-eyed, because I think while you were listening to Morissette, the images of the stage play you watched are playing again on your mind as she invoked them for you. Since you mentioned seeing Katherine McPhee perform this on Broadway. Morissette performed in a week on concerts with David Foster and Friends in Manila back in April. She sang with Katherine on the first night doing the Bodyguard Medley but the rest of the week she sang it on her own as well as sang Never Enough each night.
Just going to say I hope you have all heard Lucy Thomas own this song at 14 years old. Then at 15 she opened a live charity show for Calon fm with this beautiful song. Awesome beyond words. This version is great but don't miss Lucy's!!!

I think Mori is awesome, but Kat McPhee is never an embarrassment. She has a gorgeous voice! Everyone has room to be talented in their own way. She actually stopped performing in the Philippines because she flew back to the US to deal with a family tragedy.

But regardless of that, Kat has a wonderful voice and putting one singer down for another isn’t kind! Morissette certainly would never do that. They’re both great in their own ways.
