I think it’s to release tension! I don’t do it consciously to be honest. Like vibrato for string instruments, even though it makes very little sense on piano!
At the beginning doesn't it sounds like Lord of the Rings ? I never listenned the original OST, but it rocks so much with piano that I'm pretty sure your suite is better than original
