Keanu wanted to do every stunt, but the director pushed back due to insurance. The stunt double is the one that goes through glass, everything else pretty much is Keanu
Him falling down the stairs was also the stunt double as well. I think that was one they wouldn't even give him a choice to do.
And just maybe during the stunt driving.
Doesnt the stunt double also do the scenes of john getting hit by a car
@@JediMastr80 i was wondering if that was him. Id be like, nope. Not rolling down that many stairs!
Keanu Reeves is a Vampire and he cannot be killed doing any stunt...As long as he doesn't get a stake through the heart.
Watch the mirror maze scene again and ask yourself 1 question: where's the camera? What an incredible bit of film making.
Woah!!! Great point 🤯
that’s all i could think about when watching it😂 either one way mirrors or a hell of a lot of editing.

I love how when everyone who hears "its John Wick" responds in a dejected "oh".
He wasn't saying John was watered down, hes saying that he's so fuckin scary, no story could ever encapsulate what that experience is like
Correct. He was saying the stories of John Wick aren't even telling the full story. He's much worse/more badass than the stories make it seem.

Ooh, now make him watch The Raid, and the Raid 2!
yeah ...lmfaoo
Wait until next year..JW4's trailer is soo badass. John legit throws an axe at a dude's head with precision.
I think you missed the part at the end where Winston told John that D’antoni’s contract had doubled & gone international. So not only can he not get any help or respite from the Continental, since he’s excommunicado, there’s an international 14 million dollar hit out for him. That’s what Winston was giving him the ‘one hour’ for.
I did not catch that 14mill hit. Crazy!
Glad you clarified that for a
Alex, it is an important piece of information to springboard the third movie.
36:06 is where that part is at i believe.
Lol right, the ending to this movie is incredible it got me so pumped while watching it in theaters knowing there will be a 3rd one that the beginning was gonna be crazy while running away trying to survive the bounty!
19:12 Yes, but also, if you remember Constatine: if you do it yourself, according to catholicism, you don't go to heaven. The bullet was an assurance(to make sure she's gone), an affirmation(that he did fulfill the marker) and a mercy(to her).
Keanu invented the wrist flick to accelerate reloads. It is now used by professionals in competitions and is actually faster than waiting for it to drop by gravity.
No name for the dog because he literally had the dog for a day ..all three movies happen over 1 week .. only about a week after his wife died ... Such an awesome trilogy
I thought it took place in like couple months cause of what the woman forgot her name says to him about how this all started and to get his ticket to Haley berry

@@TaintedPrinceps seen it. Its going to be very sad if its the last one, not because its the last but what happens in it. I recon he dies in the end.
@@stephenphillips7699 he has earned a glorious death tbh. Even if he does die he will literally never be forgotten by anyone in the hightable or below it. John is now a certified god above what his name originally held.
So Alex, to clarify, being an excommunicado in that universe means that he's like a wanted criminal among all those criminals, so nobody will be able to help him when that one hour passes (it was like the biggest thing Winston could do for him), or they'll be also breaking the Continental rules. Also, that contract on him still remains, and because he's neither gonna get help from anyone nor get a shelter in Continental, he's "free money" for everyone
Incorrect. Excommunicado means John is excommunicated and has a bounty placed on his head. He's not a criminal.

No exaggeration: the sommelier (played by Peter Serafinowicz) is one of my all-time favorite movie characters. I understood the watered down part instantly. I'm surprised some reactors don't. A story with only 1% known about it, or even interpreted differently to leave how terrifying that story would actually be. Great line.
the reason the cops don't do anything to John is because there is an understanding between the assassin underworld and the police that they turn a blind eye to the assassins as long as they do not harm innocent people or cops. the minute that happens, well then it would be open season one would assume.
The Japanese police do the same with the Yakuza. They only intervene when thier activities harm the public at large.
doesn't make sense that nobody wouldn't dare do any investigation on the assassin underworld since it means they are free to hunt anyone they are paid for almost making it the modern Wild West, imagine the amount of collateral damage and the costs to fix the damages to the city to fix. But as an action movie i totally get it
lol you misunderstood the watered down line in the beginning "the stories you hear about this man if anything has been watered down" he meant that all the badass stories you hear about john like the pencil etc. thats only like 5% of what really happened so theyre much worse
Ohhhh great catch! Totally fucked that up

"he doesn't remember but we met MANY years ago" - Bowery King, because they also met in the Matrix! Another fun fact, when anyone says "oh" on the phone when dealing with John Wick it's a call back to the Matrix when Neo says "Whoa" after entering the Matrix. Also, notice that no civilians are ever killed in these movies, they did it on purpose so it keeps the two worlds separate so you don't have to worry about them getting arrested or caught because it's completely separate. When I got to the part where you mentioned them needing 200 people to take him out or just leave him alone, I'm glad you didn't know what was about to happen in this movie. Lot more than 200 people! Some say she was a woman of focus... commitment... of sheer fuckin' will.
:chuckles: I would just say that that is what love is like. I would have walked into fire for my wife and she knew it. If there had been some bargain that could have been struck that required my life so that she might continue to live then I would have struck it without hesitation. As they say, love makes you crazy ... and that is not always a bad thing ... unless you are left breathing when the one that gave your life meaning is gone. Dark but true.
It would be interesting to see them do a prequel trilogy for John Wick where we see the notorious pencil fight we have heard so much about, but also see the meeting of him and his wife. If it is going to happen they may want to do it fast though before Keanu gets Alzheimer's.

The whole John wick series is great, very connected between movies
Third one tried to put too much story into the movie which caused all the (although very interesting storylines) not to be fully explored. I understand they want to explain the backstory and the world around John Wick, but they should've slowed it down a bit and told each story separate.

Part of the reason John was missing while shooting at the guy on the balcony was due to him trying to shoot while hiding his gun. He was basically firing from the hip which is way less accurate than actually aiming so that the public wouldn't notice

It's like watching the Taken movies. After awhile you figure that the crime bosses would figure out that messing with this guy just isn't worth it.
Or his daughter's not that bright
I started competing in practical shooting matches in the late ‘80s and it wasn’t until John Wick that this kind of shooting was used in film.
And, just like everything else he does Keanu worked his butt off with pros to achieve the level of skill you see on screen.
The John Wick series is not only a fresh spin on action movies (which has been repeated to hell and back) but it has a new fresh story. JW is a very deeply interwoven story with so many layers. John was forced back in the first one and fought for his wife's memory. In the second, he fought because he fought for Helen. In the third movie, he fights because he killed someone on Continental property, which is sacred because the High Table protected it. That's why you can't conduct assassin business there.
It's an extremely well-written story and fun fact, Chad Stahelski is not only Keanu's stunt double from the Matrix but JW is also his first director job. It's extremely rare for a first-timr director to make a giant success their first time out, but he did it. Next spring, John Wick Chapter 4 comes out. LET'S FUCKING GOOOO!

About the Victoria’s Secret comment from the beginning, this store is located in Montreal. This is St-Catherine street, in my hometown. I’m actually proud that such an amazing movie, in such an amazing franchise, was shot in my hometown. Thx for the great reactions.
In an interview Keanu said he tries to do all of his own physical stunts. He said he won’t do getting hit by a car and he won’t do getting thrown down stairs.
"I wanna know what John Wick's wife was like, to have that kind of hold on him - " My read is that the wife simply represents peace. And love. And that John Wick is an inherently troubled man, clinging on to the idea of peace and love, and just being appreciated for who he is, rather than what he does.
Interesting fact from the director, it's the same group of stunt guys through the movie, if you watch the fights backwards you can watch their beards getting smaller till they are clean shaven at the beginning of the movie.

“I would not bet on John Wick being watered down”, my guy, this is the watered down version. 😂 In the movies, he’s 5 years out of practice and way past his prime. He’s basically at the worst point of his career, it kind of gives you a hint of what he was like when all those people worked with him.

15:15 Keanu did 90% of movie's stunts himself. He needed a stunt double in scenes when his character is run over by a car.
Ironically the most punishment his character really takes is when he gets hit by cars. lmao
Because of the nature of the Camerawork, very few cuts, tracking shots, his face being in frame quite a bit etc., 99% of the gunplay was done by Keanu himself. As for the stunts, as long as it wasn't too dangerous Keanu did it. He wanted to do it all but was apparently pushed back by the studio and director due to insurance reasons. But he did as much as he could possibly do himself.
I grew up out in the country in southeast Arizona so small town boy and hated it, I always told my friends as soon as I'm an adult I'm outta here. I joined the Navy and was so stoked to get out of the country, I went to Tokyo, Hong Kong, Dubai, LA, was stationed outside Seattle during the grunge movement so as a older teen/young adult, that was amazing to me. Especially being such a music fan. But now that I'm pushing 50, my wife and I had a house built out back out in southeast AZ 60 miles from the nearest city of Tucson out in the desert in the foothills. So peaceful, but it is funny how as you get older you kinda go full circle. I appreciate the country and the peacefulness way more now
The perfect thing about the John Wick movies is that they fit Keanu Reeve's acting abilities like a glove. That is, looking way cool, saying very little and only in a low gruff voice, except for the occasional psychopathic outburst. The Clint Eastwood school of acting. Bruce Willis followed the same path and it served him well.

15:15 I think the director said that Reeves has an issue with his legs, so his stunt double does the running scenes when you don’t see Wick’s face. That’s about it.
The sommelier scene from John Wick and the "Arsenal" scene from Mrs & Mr Smith are straight fire everytime they come up.
I'm pretty sure Keanu Reeves can shift careers and become a spy by now. All of what he does here, he really can do it.
The windshield had the clip where the rear mirror attaches.

There's a major artery in the groin and armpit. He dodged low under an attack so he stabbed the guy in the groin. It's one of the most efficient kill blows he could inflict from that angle.
Also what the guy meant in the beginning about water down was the stories that surround john wick the stories have been water down meaning they are more gruesome then what you hear from the story
Re: "Did you just cut his *butt* ?
It's a fast scene, and I'm watching on my small phone screen, but from what I know of anatomy, I'm guessing John Wick slashed the femoral artery, right where the upper thigh joins into the groin. That is one of the "certain death by *rapid* blood loss" cuts to make; the femoral artery is one of the main blood vessels of the body.
Peter Stormare, who plays Reek's uncle Abram, also played the Devil in Constantine, which was Keanu Reeves
Interesting thing about the rave. The DJ in that scene made the song that played on the dance floor scene in first John Wick (LED Spirals by Le Castle Vania).
John has stuff stashed everywhere in case of emergency. I also love this one cuz u get to see more about John's world and how it operates
The thing on the windshield in the beginning scene is where you attach the rear view mirror. You often see this in movies where they just remove the mirror and not the part attached to the windshield, but they don't want the mirror in there because it gets in the way.
So happy ur reacting to John Wick films cos i love them and always loved Keanu.

My all time favorite parts are the 'fitting and the tasting' and of course....the tunnel scene!!

The thing on the window at the beginning is what rear view mirrors attach to in older vehicles. It would have flew off during the t-bone so they probably took it off for continuity, or they removed it to not block the shot through the window.

That closing is the cliffhanger, just wait until you see John Wick Chapter 3 - Parabellum! The Wick series of movies really is told in serial form. It's one continuous story as with a book, in a chapter format.
