I'm a pne fan but surely the season after you get promoted, especially from the huge gulf between L1 and the championship the main focus, while hoping for a bit more, must be on consolidation in your next season/division. So Ipswich have to be pleased with the progress they've made since, say 2 seasons ago. They're still in with a sniff of automatic (looking less and less likely but not impossible) and they'll have a good shot in the play offs. Go up or not it has to be seen as a good first season back. It's certainly been better than Wednesday's at any rate.

whenever i’ve watched Ipswich they look uncomfortable playing out from the back, it doesn’t look like they will change that either so i expect more teams to press them from now on. they can score many goals which is the reason they are still up there
Their goalie looked uncomfortable with the short passing; unsure of himself but I also fault the defenders as they too looked leery about moving the ball out once it was in their possession.
There’s games we’ve looked incredible playing out from the back and for every one game like that there’s one like this… and there’s no plan b, for all the incredible work McKenna has done there needs to be a point where the game plan changes, you’re 3-0 down after 3 embarrassing goals and you’re still trying it and it’s almost costing you a 4th ffs. Hopefully Moore will offer a different game plan.
Pne's third goal was where a much needed good old fashioned and much derided hoofed long ball, even to the sidlines, gets that dealt with. The long ball, from your own half up to the single player making that hopeful surge forward still has a place in the game. If its the move thats on then give it a go. There's more than one way to skin a cat. a deadly well played long ball can lay it on a plate for a forward, or instantly clear a lot of pressure on your own goal.

Leicester could probably afford one but Southampton and Leeds can't and Southampton have it too good for a while now. The closer it gets to the line the more leeds and Southampton will get edgy. Ipswich will still go up one way or another they now have the best striker in the league by a country mile and the best assist maker in Davis it’s guaranteed to produce bundles of goals, Ipswich had the exact same run last season from December to mid February where they hardly won a game and then went on a run of 16 wins from 19 games and made the top 2, they have the easiest run in by some way Southampton can’t keep winning it’s impossible ! Impossible to explain: 1. the foul by Keane in build up to first goal - ref missed; 2. the offside for the second goal - not even close; 3. palming the ball away - I guess that's an indirect free kick inside the area - ref bottled it, or evening things up? Maybe he's a ref used to relying on VAR.

Every club at some point has a dodgy patch. We (pne) had ours but seem to be turning the corner now. It will even happen to Southampton and Leeds sooner or later, and even we made leeds look really bad at Deepdale, and they were very lucky at Elland Rd to be gifted a penalty in the dying minutes of added time. I don't think leeds are all that. Sides who face them with a 'oh no its leeds, let's try not to lose too badly' will lose badly. But teams who have really got at em and applied pressure, they crack. I'd make Leicester 1st, cause they can even afford a crappy run and still go up, but leeds can't afford another and I just think Southampton are better. They dominate teams much more than leeds do. But there's only a few points in it. Ipswich could still get 2nd. Especially with moore on board now. If not then I hope we meet in the play offs as we are somehow still only 3 points off 6th, which we would have snatched in August, and probably so would Ipswich.

Maybe this is a controversial view, but I don't think Edmundson was at fault for any of the goals. Second one he's played a brilliant offside and coz it wasn't given he's had to charge back. First one Morsy was fouled and just bad luck.
