I don't think people miss things in the way you think they do. These details are designed to work subconsciously in the minds of the players. They don't need to be aware of it but just "feel" it as part of a whole that just works fine.
I know this is an old video but thanks for playing the game and looking at all the details in this level. I'd replay this game over and over as a kid and just interact with as many things as I could. It blew my mind back then how detailed this game was.

So I don't know if I am finished playing the Original game or if the original game has more levels, or did Steam assumed I wanted to play more.
