    I bought one last month and it is an amazing device. Have done pork chops, chicken, ribs, steak. Getting ready to do a turkey breast for Christmas. Love it.

    I ran out of the ninja brand pellets a long time ago. and i found its just cheaper to buy a big bag of regular pellets, like i bought a huge bag of traeger applewood pellets for just a little more than what ninja sells their pellets for. and yes, you dont get as much smoke since they are slightly larger, but im doing a long cook, i sometimes just refill the hopper and reignite.

    Ribs look great Tom. I switched to water as a binder and spritz last year. Easier to clean the spray bottle and you don't waste mustard.

    If you want smoke ring,turn your wire rack upside,lay the ribs on it ,you have better smoke presentation.

    Pretty impressive Tom! I've only made burgers on mine so far. I too pull that membrane off. I don't get why you wouldn't. Hope to see more cooks on this. Cheers my friend!

    Thank you for your review.
    So, overall, you would recommend this?
    Also, what are the dimensions of the Weber Tray liner?
    Thank you.

    I was thinking that leaving the membrane on insulates the meat; keeps moisture in so the meat doesn’t dry out as easily. I’ve been pulling off the membrane but I’m going to leave it on to see if ribs are more moist.

      I've never removed the membrane. Other then being in a competition I see no need. In nearly 7 decades of cooking ribs I've never had any comments about the membrane not being removed. It makes no difference to taste nor tenderness.

      Thanks for watching Jack! Appreciate the feedback, curious as to why you would then remove it for comps?

    • @Jack-oc5ty
      @Jack-oc5ty 2 години тому +1

      @@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ I don't compete, I've attended a few though and there isn't a competitor that I observed that didn't remove it. I've heard that it's removed for seasoning purposes but my experience is there's no difference in favor whether removed or not.

    Great video and review, Tom!
    Also, wondering if you can use wood chips in the Woodfire instead of pellets? Your thoughts as well?
    Also, do you Ceramic coat the exterior of your grills? I just bought 3 new grills and Ceramic coated mine after assembly to help with cleaning.
    Hope you have a great weekend 👍🏻

    • @TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ

      Thanks for Watching MJ, I just my grills clean no fancy coatings just Gel Gloss on the exterior. Pellets are more dense and fit better in that small smoker box. Wood chips would work but I not sure how much you get in that small smoker box

    You shouldn't pour the liquid on top of the ribs washing all flavour and seasoning off.

    Another great video Tom. Which pellet smoker do you like the best? I know you have a lot of them and would like to know which one you think is the best. I have always used charcoal but am going to buy a pellet smoker soon. Keep those videos coming because we love them!

    Hi Tom. Could you taste smoke flavour even if there was no ring?

  • @tedz.
    @tedz. Рік тому +1

    Now there's a demonstration that a smoke ring, or lack of, doesn't necessarily equal smoke taste. Those are tasty looking ribs. Nice job Tom! Harry Soo has a video showing how to get a "smoke ring" cooking ribs in an indoor oven using Celery Seed, Morton's Tender Quick or Pink Curing Salt.
