7:57 the side trim isn't aligned correctly on the doors; the front door is shifted up significantly To this day my 1992 7 series has perfect fit and finish on all exterior and interior panels almost 30 years later. Not the same price point of course, but it tells how much attention to detail was on the Mercury (none). I'm sure a 1999 Avalon or Camry would hold up a lot better compared to the Sable too.
@@fredaydaybae8450 True, Lynx killed any chance they had in small cars. By the time the much better Tracer came along it was too late, since Corolla and Civic took over and never looked back
It looks very Japanese in its styling. I noted with interest that Mercury no longer exists, probably a victim of the 2008-09 financial crisis. Maybe a good decision in rationalisation of Ford.
And by eleven years later, Mercury was gone. It couldn't shake its image and old man's car, producing stodgy vehicles that weren't very well put together. Ford needed to reduce expenses after the 2008 recession, and Mercury after the Merkur disaster was a prime target.
As a Merkur fan/historian/owner, it wasn’t the fault of the cars for the failure because the Scorpio and the XR4Ti were top notch in all that they did, they were just saddled with a name that Americans couldn’t pronounce and a PATHETIC dealer network that was used to only selling the typical squishy Mercury and Lincoln with wire wheels and padded soft top. Mercury killed itself and deserved to die but if the Merkur had came here with the Ford badge it would’ve succeeded and would still be alive possibly.
I'm 19 and I got this car today. It's my first car, this helps me understand it a bit better so thank you!
It will last if you take care of it! I’m at 280k miles now. I have put a good amount of money in as to be expected of the year but I love it.
13:45 now there is build quality there.. A nice gap there..
Horrible! How did that get past production?! Ugh, this is why Mercury is dead....well that and a lineup of typically shitty cars.
Omg 😱

I caught that, too!
Love these videos! Looking forward to an Explorer video!
Love it so much
Thanks for sharing this beautiful time capsule video.
I'm probably one of the few crazy people who actually likes this car! 😂
It's a cool car! I just bought one.
I like these too. I got a 92 LS Sable wagon from my aunt. It has the electronic climate control, digital gauges, and keypad.
@Gary Ethier Yes you are
13:40 yup like Ms. Wu will be trading in her Maxima or Camry for that pile 😂😂😂😂
Ms. Wu is pretty though 😍
To be fair, my wife’s family is Chinese and they are obsessed with certain American car brands like Buick and Ford to a lesser extent.
What? I saw MANY Chinese and Indians driving Mercery Sables and Ford Taurus.
I think one of these in red with the chrome wheels is the best combination. In the sedan form of course

Lol very few interested in the brand
More like no interest in the brand
Stylish image that is highly debateble.
I like the 2008 sable the best
@@user-Timothy1 i dont like any Mercury Sables to be honest. But the Caprice classic from 1991 is a cool 90s US car in my opinion.
clicked on vid just because of thumbnail. she looks like one of my girls from massage parlor
lol eventually succumbed to Camry and Accord
Compared to the 1st generation those Ford/Mercury looked disgusting, especially the Taurus.
I prefer the gen 1 design.
Looks Terrible
Its almost same than ford taurus 200

Mercury's decline was before the Merkur, it was called the Lynx
