Another interesting explore on the edge of the defensive area. Someone was bored and hammered a cartridge into a piece of wood, so interesting that decades later you find it! Thanks for takin us along with you on this history adventure!
I know Donald. Just some small details but i really like them. Kind of puts things into context. More to come and thanks again my friend :)
You said it...Boredom! How to pass the time in an area where nothing was happening. Hammer a spent cartridge into an old piece of wood.
Could very well be yes. Thanks.
Excellent finds! And it sounded like a prop aircraft flying overhead as you were digging.
Yes often they do come over us being out there. Thanks Sue :)
You found pieces of the puzzle, HH. That's what is important!❤
Sure did and i loved it. Thanks Cynthia :)
Back to the metal detecting, which I love, as each signal is a chance to view history. Did you find out what the mystery item was? looks like a type of lamp holder to me, but that is the fun part, trying to discover what things were. Great video HH thank you, Stay safe and well my friend
No but i feel it could be for antenna or something. Not easy to tell. Loved it out there that day and thanks so much my friend :)
Nice to see a metal detecting video again. Thanks
Thanks
Really missed EE and his enthusiastic commentary. That is something that the German Luftwaffe toothpaste tube still has a smell to it. A German soldier with fresh breath. The 1939 aluminum electrical connector cleaned up nicely. Good, the weather cooperated this time. You have another inkpot to add to your collection. Definitely a personal story behind those inkpots. I always wonder who used them last. Maybe a young Reinhardt sending a letter to his loved one/ones. Hmmm, a 38 or 34 cartridge knocked into a piece of wood?? Another story behind that discovery. Yes, why? Nice sounding prop airplane flying over during your historical discoveries. I bet there are many more artifacts to be discovered. Thank you so much for taking us there HH. Stay safe. 💕
EE had a blast doing something else that weekend and i loved being out there digging for the past. Thank you so much Girl :)
The S.S. used wooden tipped bullets for training on each other (exercises). The Normandy landings happened coincidentally with one such major training exercise - whether this great find is related; would be interesting and a cool piece of the puzzle. Again, this is so cool 👍
Great little item and thanks for watching.
That was a very interesting find you made with the rifle case stuck in a piece of wood. Must have been a German who was bored and hammered it into a tree. Then I thought that the piece of metal that had electric cables might have been screwed to the outer wall of a barrack.. maybe a lamp holder?
Well a little mystery it is and thanks my friend :)
IF YOU HAD A little RAFAL you could go on EXPEDITIONS wirh him SHOWING HIM polish history
Could also have been a soldier who wanted to fire a shotgun, or some shotgun powered grenade, but no blank shells, so took the other round, and drilled a wooden slug to fit the shotgun and fire it.
yes the other likely a cable entry for a building, likely a phone cable coming in, held down with the outer unit filled with compound, and then feeding through the wall to make it waterproof. German efficiency, make a clamp instead of simply drilling a hole, and using a screw and insulator loop to hold the cable fast.
It is fascinating how you see things that no one else would notice as you wonder through these wooded areas. Thank you for the history.
Well that is the result of being out there for a long time i guess. Thanks.
Great day metal detecting, thanks for sharing all the finds. 👍👍
Thanks 👍
The detecting videos are so cool , maybe I will go out today and warmup the detector. good job !
Great bein gout there and thanks Dave :)
Sounded like the German airfield is now an airport. When you explore the airfields I always hope you'll find parts. So cool. Stay safe my friends. 😊
yes i guess you can never know what is out there. Thanks so much :)
Hello HH & EE,
First of all, congratulations on your 380K subscribers, a credit to all your efforts.
Very special is the bullet casing in the wood.
We thank you Oma for being here and we shall work hard to evolve even more. Thanks so much :)
All the little things sure add up to give us a picture of what happened. Thanks for your tenacity in digging up history.
Appreciated Stephanie and greetings from us :)
Nice to see you have dusted off the metal detector, great video again.
yes we do that you know and thank you my friend for being here. Hope you are having a great day and be safe out there :)
I think "V ZUG" means the smallest unit of a military regiment no. 5 in this case!
Good to know and thanks.
Another great video and cool finds. Thanks again .
Thanks again!
Always enjoy the metal detecting videos. Interesting place. A shame they are going to blast that place 😕. Thanks for taking us there before that happened, HH. ❤❤
Thank you Laura and we enjoy being out there :)
Great finds I love the story that you made hope that you and your history hunting family are all well I look forward to seeing what you discover next
Appreciated and greetings from us.
Nice little adventure. Thanks for sharing.👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Love it when you metal detect. You never know what you will find. Nice finding those cartridges. Years on them???? Great day for it as well. Thanks for showing us. Great details on the defense and all. Take care.
cant remember the years but interesting details there. Thanks Colleen :)
Hi, nice video . V Zug is the name for a unit of twelve to sixty soldiers. V stands for roman five. So it means 5th platoon
Cool and thanks for watching.
Pretty cool place and I'm stumbled about that cartridge in wood??
Great explore and you never know what is out there :)
Always interesting to see what you find no matter how small. The first piece of aluminum that was round looked like it had three or four holes drilled around the outside like maybe it was attached to something. Love watching you find the cartridges. The one encapsulated in wood is a mystery. Can’t imagine a soldier hammering that into a piece of wood. Seems the end of the cartridge would show some signs of being hammered in. So glad you went back to this area before it is gone.
Yes interesting place that is and i loved being there. Thanks Anthony.
Another wonderful video from HH. I love the metal-detecting videos and the history you uncover. As always " Good Hunting "
Thanks so much :)
You had a very fine day to search for history!
Loved it and thanks.
Cool finds metal detecting too bad most of the bunkers have been destroyed. It's sad there destroying history that should be preserved. Thank you, history hunter.
Appreciated my friend and greetings from us :)
Some nice finds from that area. Shame that other hill is being slowly eaten away, Who know what might be on there, but I guess that's "progress" for you. That cartridge inside the wood was a curious one. I guess "Hans" got bored one day, and just hammered the spent round into a piece of wood, for the hell of it. And decades later, our History Hunter just happens to find it. To add to another of those little mysteries from the past. Little things like that just help to remind us that these places were living, breathing, entities, not just the broken bricks, and cracked concrete, we see today. Looking forward to the next adventure! Cheers to you all!
Yes sad to see history removed like that. Interesting details out there always. Thanks my friend :)
Always enjoy seeing the items you find metal detecting. Shame they're destroying the area so definitely understand wanting to visit the area as much as possible before it was totally gone.
Yes too bad they are removing everything. Loved the details there and thank you my friend for being here with us :)
This is my second time i watch your videos and they are pretty good but after I watch another video im going to subscribe to your videos
Glad to read that and thanks :)
9:03 "V Zug", Zug in this context is likely platoon, not train, and the V is a roman 5. So I guess the meaning is '5th platoon'.
ok and thanks for watching.
Thanks to your channel, I now have a better idea of what the items my dad brought back from Germany after the war are.
There you go and thanks for being here :)
Nice video HH. The item you found, shown at 8:15 reminds me of a side marker light. For my life, I can't remember what vehicle I saw it on. It could be an antenna mount, but most German vehicles used a flat deck mount style. It was a beautiful day for an explore. Take care and be safe.
could very well be actually. Mount i think is for antenna. Loved it and thanks my friend :)
Is the wood in the cartridge case a pencil. We have one from WW1 in a British round given to my husband by his great uncle
no it is a wooden practice round tip. Thanks for watching.
Another excellent video cheers guys❤
Thanks for watching.
Another awesome video... Ww2 was and is my favorite time to study
Appreciated and greetings from us :)
@@WW2HistoryHunter Greetings to you and your family from Ohio
Thanks.
@@WW2HistoryHunter Your Very Welcome
Det är så roligt med metal sökande
I love it and you never know what is going to be out there. Thanks.
Looking forward to seeing more metal detecting. 👍😎✌️❤️
You and me both!
Awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
Cool finds HH, see you soon 👍🏻👍🏻
🇬🇧🤝🏻🇳🇴
Thanks Glenn :)
You should take that wood out of the bullet to see what’s inside, great place to hide something small..
Interesting piece it is. Thanks.
I would be worried about digging an landmine
ok and thanks for watching.
Wonderful little explore, too bad they are destroying the history of this location. I'm thinking that a tree root grew into and around the bullet casing, otherwise I think you could have just pulled the wood out of it. Just a wild guess. Thank you for getting there before it's all built over.
Yes too bad they are removing it all. Lover the cartridge in there , so special that is. Thanks so much Allen and keep smiling out there :)
Beautiful day !!!
Yes it was!
Yes....metal detecting ❤❤❤❤
Great to be out there :) Thanks for being here :)
I’m concerned that you might accidentally find unexploded ordinance and while cleaning it, possibly setting it off‼️ Strange things happen and your safety is highly important‼️
Well we have done this for over a decade now and feel pretty safe out there but always good to be safe. Thanks.
So while the kids are away, Daddy can go out and play
Sometimes i do get some time out there all by myself yes :)
9:20
Thats a Reichsluftschutzbund buckle
Great item we found and thanks for being here :)
❤
Thanks.
Is the first find part of a hindge maybe
it could be yes. thanks for being here.
I have become a professional finding amunition because that's all i find. Now i just ignore the target id of amunition. And alot of rusted iron
Thanks for watching.
no eagle eyes in this video then
Nope he was busy doing some other interesting stuff , climbing :) Thanks.
hi
Appreciated and greetings from us :)
proably from a GARAND M1 .30-06 RIFLE
Could be. Thanks.
Ive never been metal detecting but i know I would enjoy that just walking around and thinking and sometimes finding stuff :D
You guys should do a Q&A video some time : )
It is really interesting indeed. We might do that in the future. Thanks and greetings from us.
One thing i don't understand when you are metal detecting. You find alot of different things where the barracts an fireing positions use to be except for one thing. Why haven't you found any coins? Seems like the germen soldiers would have some coins in their pocket that would fall out.
og we do find coins as well and even coin spills. Thanks for watching.
