When it comes to the opposition, it has been doing a lot of things to hinder the government. You can have a glimpse of some of its movements. You say the media is sold, that it is a puppet in the hands of the government? Then perhaps, you have seen only a fraction of media houses operating in India.
Plus, they have more than "adequate majority" because of popular public support. The government is lawfully elected. Hence, that shouldn't be a problem.

Upper house role should kept limited in Central Govt. as generally they don't think for the country majority. Being elected by individual states is biggest reason for that.
