    Yes carrots take a long time to germinate. Lots people don't know carrots seed don't like to germinate above 15 degrees Celsius. I seed always early carrot seeds!! Covering helps a lot.

    I grow carrots in buckets so I can move them easily into shade or sun, as needed. I cover the seeds with a thin layer of sand and then a single layer of paper towels. Watering doesn't disturb the seeds at all that way. To check germination, I just lift the edges of the towel carefully and peek. The sand doesn't adhere much to the towel so if they haven't germinated, I just let the towel go back in place. When the seedlings are starting to show, I just remove the towel.

    I'm going to try carrots for the first time this year. I don't like them myself, but several of my critters do , so why not try😊. I have the seed square too, I'll try this.

    I'm wondering if she has holes for drainage in those pots she is using.???

      You bet. I used a large size drill bit to make several drainage holes in the bottom before filling
