@@bsims4126 Maybe not as to whether it gets done, but she does have control of how she responds to it. Some turtles might struggle and wiggle trying to get away. She didn't. She stayed still, which is why I said she showed trust.
I like how they try to move flailing their little legs about and then just suck in to their shell. Turtles always had this perpetual look of anger on their faces.
I saved a snapper with bad shell rot and I found with her gently massaging instead of picking made her more comfortable and she is one of the sweetest rescues I have ever had. I planned to release her when she was healthy but she is so docile and likes to snuggle so I can't. Empathy and hygiene can really create some magic! 💖
I have a red eared slider named Shelly who is almost nine years old now. I have taken care of her since I was about six years old, researching about her species and doing my best to keep her happy and healthy. A few times a year she sheds old scales and I have always helped her to shed when she needs a little help. She is currently near the end of a shedding right now and seeing the new beautiful colours abd how much she has grown amazes me. When we got her she was little over the size of a quarter and now it takes two hands to hold her securely. It has been a long nine years of growing and there are many more years to come for the both of us. Thank you for all you do at the garden state tortoise center. You guys have changed so many lives no matter how small they may be, keep doing what you are doing because it's great work ❤️🐢
Well, she is quite the looker! So happy to see her shiny new shell. Thank you to you and your selfless family for rescuing and nurturing these amazing and important animals!
Poor baby, I'm so glad she's healing. Even in her healing state it made me sad to see her this way, especially her belly. I'm happy to know that she IS in fact healing, that means she'll only get better. I can't imagine her condition will ever *fully* heal but I'm glad she's getting better under your care 🥰
She’s so cute and you can see she trusts you , your doing a fabulous job and I love your content , I now so much about caring for these sweethearts now . Fantastic job .
We have 8 aquatic turtles (3 reeves, 2 red eared, 1 big bend slider, 1 musk, and 1 Mississippi mud) and they would never allow us to do this. They're all spicy. That being said, that looked super satisfying.
So glad you're able to help these turtles. I had to rehome mine to people who could take care of them better due to issues with mental illness- I was barely caring for myself, let alone two turtles who relied on me for everything they needed. It was an incredibly difficult decision for me, but whenever I see people loving and caring for these animals it reminds me that I did what was best for mine.
I worked as an environmental educator at a place with turtles. Aquatic turtles can get all sorts of infections from stuck scutes. We had a few terrapins that were previously pets that we had to spend over a year working on.
I learn something new every time I view your videos. I never knew turtles SHED in all my life and I'm 67. My father was a naturalist and loved all God's creatures and I would have thought I heard of this. Never have, thank you for educating us about the 🐢🐢🐢 world. 💕💕💕
I feel so bad for this turtle. I understand it doesn't hurt, you're helping her and you know what you're doing but for me knowing turtles can feel through their shells but not knowing how their shedding works. Every peel was not ASMR, I cringed and groaned a little. Thank you for helping her shed.
I always feel bad for animals that need help just living/have issues, but it is great information and experience for humans so we know how to treat and help those same animals/issues in the future. ❤

Excuse me sir, your avocado is moving
😭
💀
Peel the avocado peel the avocado
🫡 it has evolved
now cut it in half and take the pit out
She showed total trust in you doing that. You were so gentle taking those off so it's easy to see why.
You sound cringe
I don’t think the turtle has any say in whether or not he does it

@@dreyhawk you saw what you wanted to see. The turtle just tried to hide it's limbs, that's what turtles do
It's a turtle, not a human.
I like how they try to move flailing their little legs about and then just suck in to their shell.
Turtles always had this perpetual look of anger on their faces.
:-( Mine always looked happy, like a big cheesy grin on his face.
Ours looked pretty happy, we'd let them scoot around the carpet. My daughter's really got big and would push a little red ball around.
To me they have this innocent look about them
They do look angry! lol. Or like they're pouting.
Like he's going
"Put me down! Where's ground!!!🤬
UGHHH Fine. I'll just pout in my shell😤"
I always knew reptiles shed their skin but it never crossed my mind that the same logic applies turtle's shell too 😅 amazing little fellas
Same here lol
Imagine you were covered in bone
almost any hard-shell organism that grows in size has a shedding mechanism.
I never knew turtles she'd. It is very cool to know.
"Hey baby, wanna shed scoots?"
How do you shed scoots when scooting is like scooting along rather than shedding scutes on a turtle
I guess she left you on shed lol
scutes*
I found this way to funny.

Animals suffer in silence. People need to get smarter about how to care for them. THANK YOU for everything you do for them. You're a true steward.
Ok now you need to make a helmet out of them for 10 seconds of extra breath

It's great to see animal rescues that weren't staged and help the animals rather than harm them. We need more clips like this
Absolutely love your videos! Thank you for teaching so much
She was so calm about it 🥰 she's beautiful x
She didn't even flinch when you peeled it that that's great!👍🏿
She's precious tysm for rescuing her. Blessings ❤

She’s blessed to be with you, I hope she gets lots of back scratches with a tooth brush and nutritious snacks!
