Love, love, love this song. But surprisingly, my fave part is the trumpter solo by the late great Dizzy Gillespie(starting at around 2:29). In true Bebop fashion, Diz dared to take it 'outside' and it worked beautifully. But then, its Stevie and Dizzy together...
I agree, when I was in my prime this was the type of music we had. People don't appreciate disco and soul/funk today. The talent and orchestration that is used is no longer heard today. That harmonica is outrageous!
Saw Dizzy Gillespie at Ronnie Scott's club in London many years ago, still one of the best nights ever. Would like to have seen Stevie play Ronnies, now that would have been a night to remember.
Favorite song. Like how took the sistahs back to Africa. White dude behind Stevie feeling it the most Dissie got to feeling it. Watched this on video soul wit Donnie Simpson when I was a kid songs like this made me love music soul music
Jeez this song always gives me goosebumps and I can’t help dancing. You can hear the pride and thrill in Stevie’s voice when he announces Dizzy Gillespie.

REMEMBERING JOHN "DIZZY" GILLESPIE (OCTOBER 21, 1917 - JANUARY 6, 1993) [10/21/2018]
Ladies and Gentlemen I have the pleasure presenting on my album Mr. Dizzy Gillispie. Blow!
Even with such a tempered solo as the one played by Dizzy, he’s just a darn master. I was def born in the wrong generation.
Stevie's scheduled for surgery in the Fall. Let's wish him success with a song every day.
