And to score 90 in 147 Serie A games, in a time when football wasn't particularly high scoring (at least not compared to today, when so many players seem to have very high scoring percentages), is extremely impressive.
Considering the quality of pitches ( disaster) and his injury, i think we only saw 70% of the real MVB. Today, he would score 40 goals a season, easy !

Disappointing that he had to retire at age 28. He still had so much unfinished business. But it was his fault. If my memory is correct, the injury was not affecting his performance. He could have waited till after he retired to do it, but he wanted AC Milan to pay for it. It was the surgery that he never recovered from. In his own words, it was doctors who ended his career not defenders.
