I think it was Jaime's heroin addiction. They had a prime chance to crossover with Johnny Marr behind the desk for The Program but too many years and crap songs got the better of them.
@@granthambeard ....Well if anyone should know Anthony you should. That really surprises me as I loved his work with the Smiths and his work on Viva Hate. As far as a live act goes you were one of my favourites and I've seen plenty of acts in my 64 years going to gigs. So much energy and fizz in those live performances. Bauhaus were another band like that , their live performances were mesmeric. Shame how it all ended for Marion because for me you were ahead of the curve and deserved recognition for that and I don't think you got it.
One of the best bands I've ever seen live....Shame they crashed and burned under the weight of Jamie's drug addiction. Jesus, he looks so young, fresh and alive on here. 'This World and Body' still stands up today. Superb debut album. So sad what happened to them, they were way ahead of the curve of the bands that came after them like The Libertines. Great to see Phil got in with New Order.
Sadly Jules on Bass had left the band and was replaced by Nick when they played Glasto. Was there also, but before that I used to give Jules and some of the band a lift up to Dublin Castle and the Rock Garden in 94. Great Band !!
Jaime's voice was note-perfect. These guys didn't deserve to have their careers decided by chin-stroking 90s NME journos.

@@andrewstubbs822 ....Yeah and getting rid of Stephen Street for their second album was a bad move.
@@granthambeard ....I never knew that. Because Street produced 'Sleep' I thought he'd done the album.

The NME kept on making jokes about one of the band having a beard, which they seemed to think wrote the whole outfit off completely...
Man i still wish it was 1995! Best year ever for Music and Glasto.
If you haven't got 'This World And Body' you're music collection isn't complete
and the program
Vanessa is the standout track.
I actually think the second album is still better
Such a good album.
@@granthambeard Welcome !

Marion made possibly the best Britpop album of all time.
