I’ve converted to hickory and I love it, you play a whole different game with these clubs. Running it along the fairway, premium on chipping and you only need seven clubs. I enjoy swinging my Mr White driver and my T Stewart jr irons along with my Calamity Jane putter oh yeah I’m all in down to the knickers

I learned golf with Hickory sticks back in 1963. Found a set in the closet of our new house. We lived right down the street from the Oakley Country Club in Watertown, Mass. built in 1895.

Yeah buddy, I found my grandfathers hickory club, a niblick, when I was 10 in 1957. It was too big but I learned to use it well and by 13, I was smacking it 100 yds and landing it where I wanted. Later that year I got my first starter set metal clubs and had to relearn to hit the ball again (took me 4 years, lol).

Thankfully it was not yet 10pm when you dropped this video on me (Connecticut, U.S.A.), but almost 3am in England! This was quite a different video, and it all makes me wonder how did the golfers back then score well. When I was a teenager, I used my father's old MacGregor irons from the 1930's and they were tough enough. Heartwarming scenes, and seems to recreate how golf was played long ago. Thank you.

Andy here in Pennsylvania we have the Foxburg Country Club is the oldest operating golf course in Pennsylvania I think in the USA in fact they do have a tournament with hickory-shafted clubs at this old course

Love it. Thanks again and let us know how the clubs felt, how did our new balls react with the shots? I would love to try that.

When I started to play golf in 1955, I used my grandfather's old hickory shafted clubs for quite about a year-----later, using more modern clubs, I got my handicap down to scratch within three years and have always felt it was using wooden shafts originally that helped me enormously.

My dad had some hickory shafted clubs which I used to mess about with as a kid. I couldn't understand why they pointed the wrong way, then discovered I was left handed! Unfortunately my mum must have thrown them away because I couldn't find them when I cleared the house after she died.

    Fantastic
Interesting that golf use to be played with fewer clubs. Perhaps we should revert to 7 clubs plus putter . . . Reduce cost and increase skill/shot making!

Richard Prosser I grew up playing putter, 3,5,7,9, Driver, 3 wood. Persimmon woods, blade irons. You knew it when you hit a bad shot and had to learn to manipulate clubs for shot and distance.😁

Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this....I'd have loved to been there in that shop and learned from him....I have a good amount of old hickory shaft clubs here and never hit the first one! Always been to scared of breaking them. What kind of ball did he say people are using with them? I couldn't quite catch what ball he said when you asked him!

Bit different from your pxg's!! Jack whites is a great wee shop and looks strangely in place in gullane! Think If you do another video with hickory's you should play on the musselburgh old course! I might even get a round in with you at some point!!

Not like you Andy totally misleading the public, title on video New clubs does this mean you’re changing your PXG ? or just another you tuber pumping videos out for money. You’ve always been honest and I value your opinions but this is misleading should have named the Title playing with hickory shafts
