So thankful, that this awesome, anointed, gifted singer, writer, composer passed our way leaving for us to cherish his songs as comfort food for the soul. Rest Well!!!
If it wasn't for the internet I would never have known about this man and his angelic voice. Now I listen to his songs all day, everyday!! He has become my favorite singer
Something about this version......I love Cleveland and I love Allen........but this version.......Lord have mercy Jesus!!!!!I feel this song deep on the inside.....
Beautiful, flawless, rendition of this soulful gospel song to which everyone who has ever lost a loved one, especially a parent or both parents, can deeply relate. Brother Jesse Dixon and the Choir did full justice to this beloved classic. I had hoped Bro. Jesse would outlive me, and that I could meet him one to tell him what a beautiful blessing he has been to my life; but I guess that day will have to be delayed until I, too, cross that Jordan and "Wake Up In Glory!" (: I hope to meet him there, where every day is a Great Reunion Day!!! Hallelujah and Glory to God!!!
preachersdtr1 Amen! I feel the same way. I talk often about the dinner parties I'm gonna have in Glory. I can't wait to see Bro Jessy there. Till then I'll come here daily to hear him sing. What a day that will be!
I find it very, very difficult to start/finish my day without having The Music of JESSY DIXON playing in the background... His music is infecious with the GRACE of God's Love and the conviction of not focusing on accepting it freely and without hesitation. JESSY DIXON Music was the gifts God gave him to SHARE WITH all his PEOPLE (Black, Yellow,Red,& White ) we're ALL SINERS IN God's Site ... But thanks to God Jessy Music make us reallize "I TO WAS BOROUGH WITH A PRICE." & will see JESSY and all the Saints somewhere around God's THRONE. Until THEN stay safe in the Lord is our prayers for YOU !!!
I love Jesus I love Jessy Dixon I just love this song this is what heaven will look like this is what heaven will look like all kinds of people love it love it
I miss Rev. Jessy every day. But, this hymn keeps me aware of his own faith and how he has reinforced my own. I often feel little tears of joy on my face as I watch and listen.
Totally amazing!! Jesse Dixon, Stephen Hill, Ms Lillie Knauls, so many of the Gaithers Vocal Band, their Homecoming videos have carried me through from 2016 until today, the future. Losing my daughter/granddaughter stopped my life. So many struggle with grief, loss. We are forced to confront violence, drugs, alcohol and we can’t find a reason for the pain. We know the Lord is not the giver of heartache and pain. It is caused by Satan. I pray the Lord sees the struggles of our loved ones and knows their hearts. The Lord gives us the power of choice. There are so many who are mentally, physically, and genetically challenged and Jesus know this and he will be there waiting for them as well.
I lost my grandmother I lost my grad dad this man right here was singing about his mom an dad an now he is gone omg o Lord have mercy on us dear lord we miss u jessy Dixon we miss u ok.

Everytime I watches Mr Jessy Dixon sings my eyes are tearing up. He was a great singer an handsome Man and He had a wonderful voice. He was my nightingale. Thank you for your priceless Legacy Mr Jessy Dixon. Sleep sweet ❣🙏🏽
Mike, you're not alone. Most of us who go to church are just like you, struggling day in day out. But I tell you this, and listen very well....The burden is so much lighter when you embrace Jesus. Your total reformation begins the very moment you give your life to Him. I warn you though, it's not magic. It takes time, patience, humility and total commitment. I recommend a few more songs for you 1. Am amazed, 2. God's favorite song, 3. I am saved (all by brooklyn tabernacle choir). I'll reach you again when you reply to this comment. Stay blessed
Mike Borrego I just read you response. I too love to hear Pastor Dixon sing because he sang those old songs you no longer hesr in these days. I am praying also for your spiritual connection either Jesus led in your life. through songs. And, hope that the Lord healed you from the enemy out there to destroy our young . it was your first step out and I hope that Jesus was able to hold you I His arms until your light begun to shine. Find a church and allow a Jesus to work miracles in your life. Let us know how you coming along.

I love listening to Bill Gaither and the beautiful music and hearing voices of the Saints and this angelic voice of Jessie Dixion gives us always a glimpse of heaven
We're not perfect-keep listening to that song. It has a message for all of us. You are not alone that is the first thing that you should know. We learn from our mistakes. One thing that I have learned and Mike Borrego-the Lord knows your heart and your intentions. He is waiting on you to give your problems to him-I did.
I have stood on the banks of Jordan and watch the ship Go sailing by my parents and all my brothers and sisters go by but when. my daughter went sailing by and i will see them one day . . .. ...
I just started some months ago listening to Jessie Dixon and reading some comments i saw that he passed away in 2011. The first song i heard him sung was ..The Wicked Shall Cease their troubling and the weary shall be at rest, and just getting to know Jessie through his songs and performances May He soul sleep on in perfect peace.
It seems lately that I am standing by the grave side of a relative or friend every week. I miss my Father, Mom, Brother and Sister. Standing on the bank and seeing those ships go by, pain, pain, but they will be waiting for my ship to land. Thank you Lord!!!

Jessy Dixon my friend.. I woke up to this morning to this song again.. I regained my strength I started allover... continue ministering through your music.. You did your best faithfully... now you await your reward.. so long friend
All of us reach that age in which this song of praise tears the heart apart, at least for moments. But, here, Rev. Dixon makes us aware of what we all must prepare for. Sometimes it comes too early and we wonder and are angry; sometimes it is too late and we see and feel such physical suffering to cross that Jordan. But God knows the time better than we ever will.
You are redeemed. Just as how you want us to remember you. Best gospel singer of all times. Very handsome too. The blessings of the almighty were seen all over Jessy. Ride on Jessy
George Brett, Shawn Obrien and I wrote Gone on Easter of 1987. The song was written in Flemish. It was translated into French by George Brett. I made the translation into English.
Love ❤ this song which is new to me. Made me cry 😢. Jessy which I had discovered YOUR wonderful powerful God blessed music prior to my mom's passing. I am enjoying and loving it.. We all will meet again U blessed soul 🙏.
Yes This song was new to me also. Share it with my sister, she loved it but said it was an older song. Dream that my mother said that she always loved that song 😢😢😢❤
I Stood On The Bank Of Jordan was written on the Wednesday before Easter in Gallup, NM. My father Charles Raymond Ahlemann Jr went to visit the graveside of his parents and maternal grandfather on the 40th anniversary of their murders. The murders were committed at Window Rock, AZ on Easter Sunday of 1947. There was a family fight over circumcising my father. Some of the family members argued that circumcision was child abuse. My father was midified and he bled badly at age of four and a half. He thought he might die as he was picked up by his maternal grandmother and carried to safety. The incident caused my father to have PTSD which was why he didn't want to live in New Mexico. But he wanted to visit the graveside in 1997 for sone sort of closure. Murders are never prosecuted at Window Rock. The town is on the Navajo Reservation and the State of Arizona refuses to prosecute murders that happen there since it is on Reservation land. But the Navajo Nation doesn't have the authority to prosecute murders. So many attrocities happen at Window Rock are done on purpose there since the crimes won't be protected. It has been like that ever since the Navajo Reservation was created in 1902. My father decided to compose a song in memory of his deceased relatives and then his brother Carlos Bolaski showed up at the graveside. Karen Bolaski Ahlemann was expecting a child at the time. She had her pregnant belly ripped open and her son was pulled out. There was an attempt to bludgeon him to death but he was saved by his uncle Roberto Bolaski who had served in the militarily as a Navajo Code Talker. Also Karl Bolaski Jr intervened to stop the attack. He had served in the New Mexico National Guard and was a Bataan Death March Survivor. They combined to stop the attack. It was clear that both Charles Ahlemann Sr and his wife Karla were both dead but the son Carlos survived. The wife of Roberto Bolaski was also expecting so she was able to nurse Carlos. The state of Arizona tried to block the Bolaskis from having custody. They had to live on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona for a year to keep custody of Carlos and they had to file for his legal adoption through the Navajo Nation before the Stste of Arizona lost itd attempts to have Carlos placed into foster care. Eventually Ricardo Bolaski and his wife were reunited in Gallup, NM. The State of Arizona ordered the Bolaskis to separate. The Navajo Nation interviewed to help them since Karla's maternal grandfather was the Chief of the Navajo Nation. The family wasn't reunited until Easter of 1951. Ricardo Bolaski was the owner of the Indian trading msrket in Gallup, NM. The buildings where the market was located were repeatedly burned by the Arizona National Guard in a cross border raid. The State of New Mexico hesitated to shut the state border. but it was the only way to secure Gallup. Then the New Mexico National Guard did its own operation to secure the release of Karen, Carlos and Ricardo Bolasi, Jr. and help them return to Gallup. Repeatedly the Reservation Police (funded by the Bureau of Indian Affairs) kept making attacks and trying to kill the Bolaskis. They also severely punished any Navajo who came to their aid. The Chief Thomas Ellasworth was massacred at this time for his supposed defiance of court ordrrs coming out of Arizona.
There was another person who showed up in Gallup. It was Boshop Emelio Garcia who had been removed from being Bishop of Albuquerque by that year's American Bishop's Council. Emelio had to flee Albuquerque to avoid Ethnic Cleansing. My father paid for him to get a ticket to Kansas City. Fr. Garcia had to swich from the Franciscan Order to be a Jesuit in order to get around being defrocked.
I Stood On The Banks Of Jordan had several writers. Vance Wiggin came up with the opening line in Flemish. His wife Janice wrote the second line. They were the parents of the first Wiggin grandchild. It was the first birthday of Christopher Vance Wiggin. He was learning to talk and haf an idea to contribute but that line has been edited out because the copyright was stolen by Gloria Gaither. This is extremely upsetting to me because I was a close.friend of the family and had been badly abused for intercessory prayer on their behalf!! I was bleeding severed after an abortion perfotmed by Planned Parenthood in Guymon, OK where the funeral was held. The wife of James Wiggin Jr, Jean Anne wrote the next verse. Her father had been murdered the week before. Her husband James Wiggin Jr wrote the next line. The family felt like both people were murdered and it looked like the same mafia hit man. Both of them were members of the Medellin Drug Cartel who had truned to God and were sorry for what they had done. We think it was Karl Merced, who had moved to Miami that ordeted the murders. This is the plot of one of the episodes of Miami Vice. The next two lines were written by Nedreau Garcon who was a son of Helen Wiggin thst was disabled and was in a wheelchair. The following line was written by Jack Garcon Jr who was another son of Helen Wiggin. The next line was written by Helen's daughter Leslie Merced. 1:52 b
