Ive carried a Rat 2 every day for about a year now, and I absolutely recommend it to everyone looking for a great knife for around 40 bucks. Honestly, even if you have a budget of up to 60 bucks or so, I'd still suggest you get a Rat 2 and save the 20 dollars. I use it at least once a day at work, and mine has the black paint chipping off the blade. The edge however is still good, the action is as smooth as out of the box, and I've seen no misalignment or warp.
Thank you guys for doing a video for us budget folks! I have the Kershaw Link in both M390, the OD 20CV version, as well as the Bareknuckle in 20CV and they are the best! The S35VN Code is amazing too! Please keep doing BHQ exclusives like this PLEASE! Civivi is my FAVE budget brand, and QSP really intrigues me!
I've had a 3/4 ton for a few years, now. I willingly throw it at task around the house. Boxes, weed roots below ground level or against bricks/concrete. It sharpens up as quickly as I dull it. Fearless.
Just recieved my Civivi Asticus an totality love it, talk about a fantastic edc, its large in lenth, got killer blade to handle ratio, its then, tip up right or left, light an a crazy smooth flipper, with frame lock, also extremely light, at any size. To me they hit this one out of the park! Home run baby, oh an it falls shut with out any tuning,an of course perfect centering! Wow
Have been EDC an r2d2 in black oxide on the farm for a year now. The r2 is holding up well, slightly off center. The d2 gets crazy sharp and holds up pretty well, but tends to surface rust on the edge and chips a bit. Sharpening takes care of both.
I have the XHP Code 4 and it is a fantastic knife. Big knife and carries super easy. And if you let it sit half open for a few days, mine now flips pretty well.
You guys defiantly need to do these more! A lot of us don’t have hundreds to drop on a knife even though we want to! Trust me if I had the money I would get in trouble with the amount I would spend.
I also got the Lekku and I love it. I haven't gotten to actually use it yet but it feels so amazing in hand. I added a 550 lanyard to it because I struggle with how deep the knife sits in the sheath, but that is because this is my first fixed blade that sits so low. Can't wait to get out their and use my new Lekku.
Hey guys, I haven't watched the whole video yet, but just wanted to make a point that I've never seen anyone take a drink on any Blade HQ video. You have to get thirsty or clear your throat at some point so don't be shy to have some water or coffee or something. It wouldn't bother anyone. 😉
I've had the GM Ace Iona for nearly a year now, it's been a true pocket pal since the day I got it. It's been 11 months and I'm just now getting back into knife rotation....but my GM is always close by.
I've got big hands so i went with the rat 1, it's the first and only D2 knife i've owned and it's amazing. Wicked sharp and easy to maintain with a few passes on a ceramic rod (i used my spyderco sharpmaker). In my country it cost me just shy of $80 but it was more than worth every penny of for me
As far as what they were saying about the Ontario Rat 2, I agree 100%. I have had the AUS-8 and D2 versions and they both performed unbelievably. As far as bang for the buck, it's really, really hard to be the Rat 2.
Kershaw link 20cv 85$ on Amazon. Spyderco endurance 4 k390 140$. Spyderco resilience s35vn 115$. Those are the top 3 best knives for a good price I can think of. The Kershaw will be my next purchase then I plan on getting a k390 Spyderco endura after that. I'm carrying a cheap but good gamzo fh91 in d2 right now and it's only 26$ on Amazon. Highly recommend it for a damn good real budget knife.
I watch this video all the time, it’s good, every time we get that TRUMP it’s that much better and I already sub, Working Americans Appreciate ! Also that kershaw link looks like what master chief would have as a secondary
I agree about the deep carry clip. Its a deal breaker to me. If the knife doesnt have deep carry, I don't really consider it. It's personal preference, but it seems most prefer deep carry.
Have me sold on that qsp penguin. So much so I just picked up 2. Could make up my mind on color so I got the green and blue jean micarta. Cant wait! Thnks guys.
All this means nothing to me in South Africa. I can only watch with envy. Have a number of USA knives dating back to near 30 years. Most knives on Amazon are not available to me here. Last knife I purchased from Amazon got cancelled on way here and lost my shipping cost. Due to current situation I will not purchase Chinese made. Now purchase Spanish (Muela) and Nordic (Marttiini and Mora) made which I also enjoy.
I really like the Squid, small but perfect for small items and certainly doesn’t scare anyone lol I love my RAT 1&2 absolute stout, tough, Legendary status that I’ve beat the hell out of them and they don’t blink. AND FH series Ganzo’s best bang for the buck. Everyone I know has at least one and they Love them. Those are great models you included and I think I want them all lolol ✌🏻
Thats a Mechanics knife. Which I am.. I' have the Snap-On version, blk and red scales and different shape, had it for a long time. Still a favorite of my best knifes..
I like the Schrade 303M instead of the Squid. It's an older model but it's really great, 9Cr18Mov, 59-60 HRC, titanium handle. It's not part of your presentation but I think it's a great knife for 20-25 dollars.
Could you guys do a video on the best edc's for certain states? I saw the "favorites in each state" video but I was wondering if you guys could do a video for the best edc's legal in places like washington (esp. Vancouver!) and Oregon, as well as other, more strict places you know? Just an idea but it would really help myself as well as (I'm sure) other people wondering what they can carry in their areas as well as the best options for them. Thank you! Stay safe guys!
Great video! How about one about EDC knives for left handed people? I found the mini griptilian to be a great one, and that probably applies to any Benchmade with axis lock. I recently learned about the James Bran Carter which seems to have a similar lock. Then there's left-handed versions of some cool knives with frame lock like the Kizer Sheepdog XL, but couldn't find any on the smaller EDC side like the Sheepdog mini or the Pilar. What else is out there? I'd really love an episode about this!
I enjoy the Blade HQ videos, but I have a request. I have the misfortune of living in a blue state, and I'm limited to a 3" blade when carrying. Could you include blade length when doing your reviews?

I found the blade hq channel when the pandemic started and I’ve already bought 3 knifes haha
Yeah same but I only bought 2
Yes me too. 4 and counting
I'm at four, started just over a month ago....help
I'm here for something super cheap so I can justify it 😂
Bro same I’m at 7 right now.... it’s BADDD
Any recomendations
Jamie! Love your work behind the scenes. But you're a joy on camera as well. Calm, reserved, well spoken. MORE JAMIE. Such a pro!
Ontario RAT I and II in D2 are probably the best bang for the buck deals!
Just bought one
Ive carried a Rat 2 every day for about a year now, and I absolutely recommend it to everyone looking for a great knife for around 40 bucks.

He was ment to be there it's only right
Kurt belongs on the left, end the chaos haha
jeff deathrage ?
@@TJ-gy7qr did you just use your finger To cover the screen
Same
I just bought three knifes in one day. I officially have a problem and I’m down a lot of money.
Dude no joke, every time I watch knife videos I’m like ooohhhh I need one of those and then I stare at my table with 10 knives on it
I've bought 3 knives and 2 multi tools in the last month, I have issues as well
We all need help. Someone‘s gotta stop us.
I made back to back purchases within the same day after watching 2 different videos. I’m now broke again
nah you good. I've made 3 orders of 3+ knives in the last 2 weeks 😅
The QSP Penguin was the first knife I've paused a video for, made a BladeHQ account and BOUGHT right away. I can't wait for it!
Perfect way to take a break in quarantine! love the videos, and keep up the good work!
👊
I just bought the new Kershaw Lucha balisong! 😀 I'm head over heels in love with this knife! 🤤😍
Noice!
Thank you bladehq, y’all keeping us sane during the quarantine ✌️✌️✌️

Gotta love the rat 1 guys, I carried it for about two years straight and it’s a beast hands down.
The insert of chain hang low made my day
Ben in the intro!!! Feel like I haven't seen that in a while. Love it
That's been the same intro for all of season 2. 🤣 I'm glad you're stoked though.
@@BladeHQ welp I guess that's what happens when I binge bladehq videos. Lose track of things
Kurt... your blue 💙 finger🤣... You went from black to Ben Blue ...
QSP Penguin is fantastic. Have the blue jean micarta version in my pocket right now.
I have the XHP Code 4 and it is a fantastic knife. Big knife and carries super easy. And if you let it sit half open for a few days, mine now flips pretty well.

Watching you guys with my kershaw skyline blade HQ exclusive in my hand awesome
Jamie's speach is a pleasure to listen to, this guy is wicked smart! Curt on the other hand 😂
Awww, heck no! Jamie's got the chops for sure, but Kurt is the MAN.
The qsp Penguin is ultra dope I got the blue micarta one lol they r awesome
Hey guys, I haven't watched the whole video yet, but just wanted to make a point that I've never seen anyone take a drink on any Blade HQ video. You have to get thirsty or clear your throat at some point so don't be shy to have some water or coffee or something. It wouldn't bother anyone. 😉
it sounds weird on a microphone, i imagine thats why they don't
always love seeing the best content first
The Code 4 is such a great knife!!
Agreed.
My favorite knife
Is it just me or does anyone else hate every single “lightweight” knife spyderco has?? Personally I’d MUCH rather just have the g10 over FRN
Agreed. They feel like trash
I disagree. I have a LW Native 5 and para 3. I've owned both but I much prefer them to the g10 versions.
I have the MAXAMET manix 2 (lightweight) and a G10 manix 2, i prefer the lightweight version in the pocket for my EDC.
I haven’t bought a spyderco for this very reason. I like the spydie hole & all that but I prefer my knives & watches to have some weight to them.
I had to buy the para 3, that para 3 Lt... Just felt cheap in my hand
Cold steel needs deep carry clips. That code 4 is sweet except the stupid clip.
For real. It’s so tiny..
Cold Steel for life!!!. I bought tha snaggle tooth kit for the code 4 this week. Works good. Never leave home with out one.
That jibbs clip took me over the edge. I love the editing on this channel!
I've had the GM Ace Iona for nearly a year now, it's been a true pocket pal since the day I got it. It's been 11 months and I'm just now getting back into knife rotation....but my GM is always close by.
I have been crushing on the Spyderco lil native lately it’s like the shaman had a little son and they weight lift together
I'm looking into getting a rat 1 in d2 steel. I've seen so many great things about this and this video has helped me make my decision. Thanks
I've got big hands so i went with the rat 1, it's the first and only D2 knife i've owned and it's amazing. Wicked sharp and easy to maintain with a few passes on a ceramic rod (i used my spyderco sharpmaker). In my country it cost me just shy of $80 but it was more than worth every penny of for me
Well done guys; great presentation!
Great video! Thanks guys!
I love my Cold Steel Code 4 in the Tanto version. It came so sharp, and the Cold Steel Tanto shape is great.
Quarantine turning Kurt into a stud.
As far as what they were saying about the Ontario Rat 2, I agree 100%. I have had the AUS-8 and D2 versions and they both performed unbelievably. As far as bang for the buck, it's really, really hard to be the Rat 2.
Love y’all guys I’m 13 years old and I own a spyderco para 3
Nice! 😀👍 I love Spyderco! I have their Endura 4, and I freaking love it! 😍
Classic!
You’re starting out better than every other 13 year old I know!
YOU have AMAZING taste in knives!! Keep it up !!
Thanks also have spyderco lil native and benchmade mini grip in 20 cv
Omg.. the memes... I literally laugh out loud all the time!. Tippy Top... 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I laughed a new ab muscle on that one. Q
Everytime he said "tippy top" it got 10 times more funny. 😂😂😂
@@jakesip6765 YES!!!!!🤣🤣🤣
That Native 5 looks great. I don’t own anything by Spyderco, but I think they are the next company I’m going to buy from.
Great Banter!!! Learned a few things. Keep it up guys. Nothin but love!
Aw Jamie I love when you’re on screen!

Kilimanjaro brings a nice knife to the market for a cheap price. I have several and love them for a cheap knife.
I'll happily continue to carry my folding Gerber Gator 154CM. Not in to all the flat slabs.
Love the Cold Steel Code 4 and the Ontario Rat 1 or 2. 👍

Good to see ya, Kurt! 😎
You guys at bladeHQ always talk about your bikes. Can you do a video with your motorcycles and what knifes you ride with?
I agree about the deep carry clip. Its a deal breaker to me. If the knife doesnt have deep carry, I don't really consider it. It's personal preference, but it seems most prefer deep carry.
I got an MXG deep-pocket clip for my Ontario R2D2. Now it's perfect.
Have me sold on that qsp penguin. So much so I just picked up 2. Could make up my mind on color so I got the green and blue jean micarta. Cant wait! Thnks guys.
is it a flipper or a thumb stud only? thats make or break for me
Even Advanced Knife Bro noticed that Cold Steel can offer 3-4 inches of S35vn at or under $100.
Cold Steel has DOMINATED that corner.👍
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm at work... good time for lunch break!! HI Jamie and Kurt!! May your every day be like a "Bro Hug" lol🤣🤣

I would like to see a version of this episode with fixed blades.
i think u guys should have done a 154cm/cpm 154 section. hogue and kershaw launch. even some tops knives use it
I have several nice flipper/folders, s35vn, m390, etc. What do I love and use? Dang old RAT 1 in D2
Thanks guys
That giant mouse iona is niiicccccceeeeee!!!!!!!!! And the r2d2 is such a great deal.
I’d like to add the Bear OPS Rancor 2 flipper. S30V steel, made in the US and $49
Kershaw Link Drop Point Knife Olive Aluminum (3.25" Stonewash 20CV) 1776OLSW 74.99$ best bang for your buck
That QSP Hawk I was waiting for BHQ to get went into stock and back out of stock in like a friggin blink.

Crazy high end steel, plastic handle.🤔
Take my money Lynn Thomspon!
Glad to see Ham Shark on the show.
Delica/endura lightweights are going to be in K390 soon so there's that 😉
LA Police Gear sells a really nice s35vn folder for $40. Best budget knife to steel ratio, IMO.
Is that a Full Throttle behind Kurt? Beast of a bow!
I have a QSP Pelican and it's a great knife, it's like a poor man's 0562
For the kershaw link I have the m390 blade one! Thanks guys!
The link is a very hot knive.on my list.good job kershaw.

I just ordered a qsp penguin like 3 days ago lol. Looks nice.
I enjoy the Blade HQ videos, but I have a request. I have the misfortune of living in a blue state, and I'm limited to a 3" blade when carrying. Could you include blade length when doing your reviews?
Never had a code 4 but the recon has 4" of s35vn coning in just under a $100. Great in my opinion
Now that's a tippy top video
First : I did like the video ... with a proper "thumbs up!"
Second : (I was born on the cusp of "Boomer" and "Gen-X") You younger people seem to place a high value on harder steel, so that you just don't have to sharpen your blade as often.
(I'm not being too judgmental here, but that does seem a tiny bit lazy to me.)
Third : I really appreciated the video of the nitrogen blades that you did at the Great Salt Lake.
I live on the coast of the PNW, so that should make sense.
Fourth : I always EDC a small, sturdy fixed blade with me as well.
Fifth : If you *need* a diamond steel to sharpen your folder ... don't forget to carry that with you.
I carry two blades for about five different reasons.
I can sharpen them, even if I lost my carbide/ceramic pocket piece.
A proper blade takes the environment into consideration. 😉
I'm younger, I sharpen my knives very often, but I still prefer harder steel.
I'm pretty new to the EDC world
And I bought a skeletool cx 154cm steel.
Could you give me some advice on EDC?
Mainly on what should I use to sharpen my blade
Got a QSP coming in the mail.
Great videos great info thanks
@BladeHQ It would be really awesome if the website would add a new filter called "Steel Quality" that would group up all of the seemingly endless types of blade steels into the 4 groups on your steel comparison page = Budget, Mid-Range, High-End, Premium. It would make my dream-browsing more efficient :-)
That qsp almost gave me a heart attack
How come thay don’t have a million subscribers these guys are awesome
That intro was fire
Hey coldsteel...code 4 with axis style or liner lock. Do it!
I for sure thought I’d see the SIG terminus XR in the S35vn. I’ve heard great things and it’s only like $60 or less
Cold Steel!! FTW!!!
You should make a video on “Christmas-ham approved” EDC knives. I have XL sized hands and would love to know what fits Curt’s hands.
