I got malware from downloading some sketchy software once. They gained access to my old UA-cam account and uploaded about 50 of those malware videos, all advertised as free cheats. My UA-cam account was later banned. I had hundreds of private videos on there back from my childhood when I did some electronic content creation. It held a lot of core memories. I contacted UA-cam and they said they wont do anything as they had no proof that it was someone else uploading the videos and not me. It's truly a shame.
We used to have a dislike button on UA-cam that would immediately tell you whether or not a tutorial was legit. We did not know how good we had it until it was gone.
You couldn’t even see dislike until you gave a video your view. Also like. Did anyone actually use them other than a way to be mad at something? See: whatever ‘controversy’ conservative media is mad at getting dislike bombed regardless of quality
If there are 400 emojis in the title, with terrible English and 15 similar videos talking about cheats with similar style of editing and of course, a Google Drive or MediaFire link with a password-protected ZIP file, that is the BIGGEST red flag.
Great in depth video for something that's a massive problem on UA-cam, yet a small amount of people seems to raise awareness for it. Keep up the great work!
Immediate red flags: - Password protected zip file (antivirus detection) - Download from mediafire or megaupload - 1 million emojis in title - terrible english - shit editing - "open source" repos that just download a closed source program (just exec a fetch or something) Also a message to all the "hackers" out there looking for cheats, get good, and I am guaranteeing you that one day, legal action will be taken against individuals who cheat in video games.
I pushed all of them behind the scenes to UA-cam, someone in threat intel also did for "Download-Links". I wouldn't be surprised if UA-cam curtail about links for new channels outright.

Years ago on a random fps game a guy on my friends list I had known for maybe a week sent me a link for cheats. I was 13 and thought it would be fun to just kill everyone. It wasn't a virus and my account was never banned. I guess I was very lucky. It got pretty boring after a few days and I've never cheated in another game since. I'm still pretty ashamed of myself haha
@@Cainny It was the family laptop I got to use for like one hour every night. So he wouldn't have gotten much of a show... As you say, the issue is that UA-cam only treat the symptom of the problem (the accounts surfacing the links) and not the root cause (the links themselves). If you can write python code to find the videos and links, I’m not sure why UA-cam can’t do it.
Calling it “a little” malware problem is putting it lightly, searching for anything that requires a download even legit things has 99% of it being malware
I love when you read some weird line or url that doesn't make sense and you just break out laughing. 90% of the stuff you show is way to advanced for my peanut brain but I can't even begin to imagine how much meme stuff you see while digging through all them malwares. 😂😂
The game I play Hypixel Skyblock has this as a huge problem as well. What's interesting to me about the skyblock ones specifically though is that the people distributing the malware create hundreds of fake youtube channels of real players in the game, using there ign and pfp to make it look more trustworthy.
I thought of what might prevent bad actor channels. Make it so you can't interact on UA-cam in any way for 30 days other then watch videos on a new account. No comments, no uploads, no way to change your channel banner or name. Nothing!
That does nothing. So they have to wait 30 days so what? They wait 30 days. And in the mean time they make a bunch of other accounts so their 30 day timer will already be in progress and ready to go by the time they are done with the first one.
