I went to Best Buy today, they had the 77 A80L right above the 77 A95L. The 95L was definitely brighter but not in a good way. My wife even mentioned it was too much. I liked the picture on the 80L better, maybe it's because I have my tvs at home up in a more natural way.
Congratulations Brian and thanks for taking us on your journey. I love your thought process. Even as a reviewer you are not obsessed with having the best TV, instead having the best TV for you! I had you with the A80L or X95L - I couldn't see you buying any of the others.
It replaced a CX for me, blows it out of the water in nearly every regard. I would have went OLED but nothing above 77" is bright enough for me yet. I thought you’d go for a QD-OLED, specifically the 77” Sony A95L. Great choice on the A80L. I recommended this TV for a friend. She and her partner love it. The picture upscaling and processing are awesome! This is the best mix of size, panel, and processing VALUE! Love your choice.
I recently purchased an A80K series 55 inch because of price between it and the new model year & also the size was the only one that would fit into my apartment
Excellent video that could not come at a better time for me. A 77 A80L is arriving on Friday to be mounted in my living room theater. Im not a gamer so it will be for movies and series only. It will be replacing a six year old 65 900E. Im so damn excited Im like a little kid on Christmas morning. I compared the A80L directly in a side by side comparison with A95L in Best Buy and I felt for the money the A80L was so close I could not pass it up. Thanks for all your great advice.
I just wanted to say "THANK YOU" Today I purchased the 83 A80L. I'm moving up from a Sony XBR 65X850C LED. I've been watching reviews since February. You really do a good service. I appreciate how thorough your videos are. Thank u again!
Thank you so very much Marcus. Congratulations on your purchase and I hope you love it. Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to comment in such a positive way.
Recently, I got the Samsung S95C and it was absolutely amazing as far as the picture quality. However, I got the black screen while gaming on my Xbox, and it also happened on my OTA channels. So I sent it back and exchanged it for the Sony A95L, and I am in heaven. What a beautiful TV. Best I ever owned, but was the most expensive as well. Like they say though. You get what you pay for. Congratulations on your new TV. Thank you so much for your channel.
Brian Help Please! LG G3 OLED vs Sony A80L OLED 83INCH MODELS. I can't decide on which TV to purchase. I am putting this in my living room that has 20 ft ceilings and only windows that are up about 15-17ft high. The room is brighter in the day but the sunlight never hits the wall where we plan to mount the TV. We as a family only watch TV at night (streaming) and very minimal gaming. We stream and watch movies with the Sonos Arc, Eras 300's and Sonos Sub Gen2. Which model is best in your professional opinion and why ? I feel like I'm splitting hairs on this decision but the only difference for us is that the G3 (83" does not include the MLA technology) is brighter than the Sony A80L. Appreciate the help.
I’ve been eyeing the A80K 77” from Costco forever, now that the A80L is out, and our living room is finally done, we’re finally going to pull the plug on it. Can’t wait!
Great job on your TV! I like it, I was so close to purchasing this TV but I went for the A95L that comes in tomorrow! I also purchased this TV through Value Electronics and spoke with Robert and Wendy. They are the nicest people and worth doing business with them! You cant beat their price and customer service! Anyways, congrats on the new TV!
Thx again for your great videos Brian! I just have to ask, confirm rather than the 83" Sony A80L is brighter, more vivid than the smaller sizes in it's class? It seems to be approaching MLA brightness... thx 🙏🏾
I was torn between the A95L & A80L 65" because as big as placement can handle. The wife and I saw both side by side and thought in both our opinions that the A80L looked more realistic color tones. We are extremely happy with the A80L after coming from a 55" plasma that finally died. Also purchased the A5000 sound bar, sub, and rear speakers. Happy with the entire setup. The only complaint that we have is that the 65" legs do not accommodate the sound bar. The sound bar is too long to fit between the legs of the television, so we ended up having to wall mount it. Not good design/planning on Sony's end. The 65" A95L legs would fit the sound bar, but not going to pay the extra money just to fit the sound bar, maybe that was Sony's plan all along? But fabulous tv and sound system together for us.
I'm in the same dilemna. My 64" Samsung plasma is dying. The unique store where I can see side by side has only the A80L & A95K. There is no A95L so I can't see the A95L image quality in real. Between the A80L and A95K I prefer the A80L too for the realistic color tones whereas I set in my plasma a warm cinema tone... How was the A95L color ? Warm or too constrated ? Thx
Great choice👍. And finally a reviewer that buys the model that he praises and recommends, even though it’s not the absolute best haha. And you are one of the first ones to show the 83 size! I didn’t know it had the heat sink and chassis of the A90j! Of course there was no better choice than a Sony tv for the ht A9. Do you think the ht a9 will have a successor next year? Maybe you can also dive into the audio space in the future. Keep it up Brian! Greeting from Germany
Holy smokes! Great choice! I was thinking about upgrading my A80CJ 65" but now you got me thinking 🤔 83" Heat sink M Series Chassis. The increase of width would be 16 inches and 9 inches higher than my 65 inch. Wow! Good for you man! 👊
Am in the same boat in wanting bigger than a 77 as that is what I currently have. I could potentially get an 83 a90j for cheaper than the a80l how would those 2 face off?? Would I be right in thinking the a90j could get brighter?
Processing and upscaling are far superior on the Sony, not even close. Google OS is far better. That with no DV, worse QC, the A80L is plenty bright one the settings are changed.
So is the 83” model brighter than the smaller sizes because of that heatsink or anything else? this tv here looks brighter than the 65” A80L I see at electronics stores!
Are you still happy with this TV? I am going to purchase an 83" TV soon and this is the TV I keep coming back to. It will have a custom audio system connected to it with DirecTV as the video source. Thanks.
I was SO torn between this and the A95L! Basically same price. Went with the upgraded specs over the extra 6". Have until December to swap though..... These big purchases are so easy to have FOMO!
I would like to know if the xr clear can be added with a firmware update to my 75 x93cl and why isn't it part of the x83l? Thanks Beautiful TV you got.
I have a A90J 83, a A80L 77 (just purchased) and have an 83 A80L incoming. My A90J is in my family room, the A80L 77 replaced my X95K 75 in my bedroom and my 83 A80L will replace my CX in my basement. My X95K was absolutely gorgeous, but the blacks of the A80L makes the colors pop.
How does your PQ on your 83 A80L compare to your A90J ? Are they similar, one brighter than the other .. I’ve heard they are pretty much the same TV. Torn between the two to purchase. Thanks in advance for your feedback!
Hey Brian, i wanted to ask you what device/splitter you guys use when comparing TVs, how do you split the signal from one source to two or more TVs? Im searching for a splitter that can provide 4K signal with HDR 10 and Dolby Vision to multiple TVs. Thanks
As someone personally weighing the purchase between a 77 A95L, a 77 G3, and an 83 A80L, thank you for this. I'm personally weighing the 83 inch A80L because of the larger display compared to the A95L as well as the Google OS which I'm in love with. I love the picture of the G3, but the OS leaves a ton to be desired. I'm also an avid movie and anime fan, so the lack of apps on the LG has been surprising. When viewing the A95L vs the A80L, I didn't see the insane price difference between the two. In CERTAIN scenes, the color volume was there on the A95L, but majority of the time, the A80L was trading blows. I would argue the 77 G3 looked brighter, but the processing was incredible on the A80L to the point where my eyes were always drawn back to it. Seeing this video, I am more confident that I'm getting a great TV that I can enjoy with my family. I'll also be pairing it with the HT-A9 and the HW5 sub!
I'm so glad you found the video helpful! The QD-OLEDs and MLA oleds are amazing, but they can not grow larger, and if you want or need that size the a80L is the best option . Just having XR clear alone sets it apart let alone having an A90J Master series chasis.
Hi Brian. I have the 77A80L. I notice that after I watch it for a while (not long) the image becomes dimmer. Just random content, not extensively bright scenes. I have to press any button on the remote again and it will become bright again. I’ve already turned off all eco settings. What am I missing? I really want it to stay bright while I watch stuff. Is it because I have peak luminance at high? Thanks for your time!
I need deep colors and contrast and the 3d pop and only 83 inch. Which is best among Sony A80L vs LG G3. Price is not a big deal. Which 83 inch is best. Please help.
Congratulations I’m am really surprised you didn’t get the x95l. I had the a90j 83 and Sony replaced with the x95l and I don’t think I could go back to oled after having it the brightness and reflection handling is so much better
Personally wouldn’t buy a oled again cause the x95l better hdr impact no burn and goe watch his video when he put it up against the a95l the x95l looked just as good
I tried with the current 83" OLED panels, but the screen uniformity is not there consistently. LG Display hasn't changed these panels since the C1, and it really shows. Also, the 83" panels can't generate as much light output as the 77", 65", and 55" variants. Perhaps you got lucky in the panel lottery, but I think many would be disappointed. I was all in for size, but, to me, there are just so many excellent choices at 77" and so many limitations at 83". Then again, many would view the smaller size as the ultimate limitation, so it's not a straightforward decision. Great video. Enjoy your new TV.
@@dmarable79I have a 77” so I’ll chime in. It is, without question, the best picture I have seen on a tv. The A95” is amazing, but I think it’s too bright (seriously). The A80l is more than bright enough. We watch shows/movies and game on it and there isn’t a thing it does wrong. We had an lg OLED prior to this and it was good, but nowhere near the picture quality of Sony.
Hi, i just ordered my A80L 83" 2 days ago. I still have to wait for another 8 days for Best Buy to get it in. I have one question: Can the center Chanel be used with a non sony av receiver? I've tried looking it up with mixed results. I have an emotiva mr1 av receiver 7.2.6 . Just curious: i seen when you were going through the sound menus. Does the voices Enhancer work well?
Thank you for the video. Question for strictly ps5 gaming would you choose the a80l or Samsung s90c there’s only $100 price difference right now Sony being $100 more. Your feedback would be much appreciated. Thank you.
My pleasure and thank you for watching! Strictly for gaming the S90C is the far better choice. It has several different gaming picture mode presets and features. It's also capable of 1440p which the PS5 is capable and the A80L is not. Hope this helps
I almost did this too! A95L and the best tech was just too good to pass up over a few extra inches of size. Very happy having the King of TVs in my home. Thanks for all the coverage this year.
I was already going to get the same on BF sale. Your previous reviews have helped in the decision and your getting it for yourself validates it further - thanks much!
Hey Brian can you please do a comparison between the 83" A80J and the 85" X95L. Which in your opinion is best for watching regular TV content and sports. Great video as always!
I think that seals it for me. I was really between 75 X93L and 77 A80L. Having owned OLEDs exclusively the last few years, I know I would have issues stepping back to LED LCD. Considering I only get the opportunity to watch HDR content at night, I don’t think I’ll miss the brightness of the S95B as much as I was worrying. Great choice! Your studio is complete. :)
@@jd3468 Pretty sure you’re thinking of the X93L Mini-LED. A80L would have WBE EX WRGB OLED panels in all sizes. All infinite contrast ratios. 83” might get a little brighter with heatsink, but not much, from what Rob Brennan said.
I'm in the return period with my 77inch LG G3, now that the Sony 83 A80L is $3,999 I'm debating about exchanging it for the Sony. I can't decide what to do. I mostly watch sports, streaming, and movies. I occasionally play the PS5. Any opinions?
As an a90j owner, congrats. While im ready to move on, its still a stunning image. I miss the eye searing brightness from my leds personally. And to me, that brightness is moee impoetant to making a lifelike image. I still have my x930e and it has a different sense of realism compared to my a90j. Cant wait to see what the z9m brings
Enjoyed the video. You said the 83" a80l has the same chasis as the a90j so how does that differ from the 77" a80l(the size I would have to get) Thanks, appreciate your input.
Another question I am retired and watch tv about 9 to 10 hrs per day. Will this lessen the effectiveness of the 80l? I was told that the oleds dim with a lot of use. Also is this a good tv for sdr content aka dish satellite?
I figured you would go with the A80L 83 inch. I was hoping being a LED fan you would have went with the X95L or QN95C 85inch, but the way you were talking it was going to be an OLED. Being that you would have to downsize, which you say never to down size with the QDOLED. I was hoping you would have picked one of the LED’s, because looking at them because of direct sunlight my use case. How big of a size jump is to much? If there is such a thing. Looking to replace my 14 year old LCD Samsung 50inch. Use it for sports(NHL/MLB/NCAAF), movies, streaming, Blu ray’s. What you mean nobody would take the 100 inch TV FOMO would 😂😂😂.Probably give it to his parents
Very nice choice. You wanted 83 inches or bigger. The processor has improved. Sony is top brand . Enjoy your new tv. If it’s good for gaming, this is your tv. Congratulations Brian.
Agree, you don't have to buy it, but what's important is that he carefully considered what his next equally sized OLED big tv would be after some time. Especially being in his profession.
So this one instead of the C3 83"? how does the 3d effect of the 77" G3 compare? I suppose you always say a larger size is better, others have said they would choose a 77"G3 instead of a 83" C3, however maybe you will say the Sony is better than the G3 picture quality..
Hi Brian, please give us an opinion on the motion handling of the A80L. I've mentioned to you that my A80K has terrible motion handling and am wondering if this has improved at all with the L. Cheers.
Brian I believe for their master series TV's that Sony does some type of panel validation to insure the panel meets certain criteria otherwise its not used in the master series? Is any panel validation done on the A80L series to insure that the panel has to meet some standards or is it complete panel lottery once you get past the master series?
The master series does get the panel treatment you are referring too, that is one of the benefits to buying that type of tv outside of top unrivaled PQ and calibration out of the box verses any other.
Love your choice Brian, the picture looks awesome. My room isn’t so big so I just took delivery of the 77” A95L and can’t wait to plug it in. Can I ask what demos you are playing with the animals where the sun is beaming down. I want to play these demos when I show off my tv to my friends haha
Hi Brian, is reality creation set to 65 the default for the 83 inch version of this TV? I noticed that on other UA-cam reviews of different sizes of the A80L, 20 is where the default slider goes to like it has in the J and K series in the past. Edit: never mind realized that’s a Standard mode thing. Checked on my A80J. Never knew that!
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPYI saw the 77” version at Best Buy, but it looked like the screen finish was not as glossy as the a95l. Can you please confirm that the 83” a80l has a a more glossy finish compared to the other sizes? Thanks!
Nice! My 83" G2 had the power issues. I had to have the power board replaced, which they did, and it has worked well since. I'm really glad to see Sony coming on strong again after the "meh" result of the failure to deliver features on my former X900H. I expect to sit the 2023 TV year out and keep my G2 and see what happens in 2024. Hopefully try to set my living room up for a 100" monster. :) What platforms are you personally gaming on lately? PC or more console/PS5?
I wouldn’t have guessed that you would get this set Brian. I’m still using the G2 for gaming but I’m seriously considering getting the 85” Samsung QN900C, I do like the A80L and I saw a comparison at the store between the A80L & S90C and if I wasn’t a gamer I’d probably pick the A80L myself. I’m not convinced that it’s a suitable gaming tv and constantly switching between VRR & Dolby Vision wouldn’t work for me but I do look forward to seeing future content on this tv from you. P.S. I’d definitely have to wall mount that tv and run the cables in wall, no way could I put up with that TV stand.
carful with samsung lcd for gaming, i have issue juste because these tvs have too much low pwm dimming so give ghosting sometimes. was on 2020tvs, patched and again this issue on 1st neo qled. idk if patched their last neoqled but samsung tvs was horrible experience for me. carful for a tv at this price... i prefer 100x my u7kq for exemple, last hisense have always same and extremly high pwm on all picture mode and all other options have big company.
@@rootcao1360 gaming in Dolby Vision is a waste of time and not something that I would ever do but I do use it for watching content when available and I also run everything through my AVR so I don’t want to be constantly switching between Dolby Vision and VRR. Thankfully this problem is not an issue on the 2024 Sony tv models
@@rootcao1360 yes all the 2024 TVs are capable of both Dolby Vision & VRR at the same time as well as the 2023 A95L which in case I run everything through my AVR so I need the eARC port to also support every feature without having to change back and forth between VRR & Dolby Vision. I myself am glad I held off on the 2023 models as the 2024’s are much improved and I’m looking for 83”/85” and up so I’d get a G4 over the Bravia 8 but I’m giving a hard look at the Bravia 9 as it’s cheaper than both the G4 & Samsung QN900B
Is this tv really any different than the smaller models I was informed it had the same screen as a G3 therefore it may be brighter the other smaller versions is this true?
Hi Brian!, would you still recommend this 83” Sony A80L for 1080p streaming and some 4K blu-rays? No gaming. I watch TV at night 90% of the time so brightness is not my main priority. Coming from a 75” Sony Z9D. Thanks!
Excellent Question! It's absolutely still highly recommended and it's still considered a current TV as that size wasn't replaced . The biggest jump you'll see from the legendary Z9D is upscaling and picture processing
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY nice! Thank you so much for replying Brian! 🙏🏽 I’m just hoping the price will come down a little (maybe $3,999?) on Black Friday being that is a carry on model from last year. Or do you think it’ll be at an incredible clearance price by Super Bowl time next year or prime day (although Sony is not known for lowering prices so aggressively as Samsung and LG 😞 )? Thanks again!!!
hey Brian, how far do you sit form tv? about to pull the trigger on this 83 beauty, is 83 really different than 77 when viewing 9 feet away? been devouring all your a80L videos lately :)
You always said the A80L was the best bang per buck in Sonys lineup so you're living it. Should be a nice setup for your studio and you won't be missing much in picture quality. I can still enjoy the 65 825 tcl even though my main set is so much better overall. Had to work so couldn't watch live.
Good video. Liked. 👍 . I've been considering this tv. Would the Sony a5000 Soundbar work well with this on it's own or would the compatible sony subwoofer be necessary?
Brian, I have the 75" X900F and was looking at either the 85" X95L or the 83" A80L ($300 more). When I look at Rtings reviews on the HDR performance, the X95L is obviously the brightest, followed by the X900F which is about 200 nits brighter in HDR than the A80L. Do you think the A80L with its WOLED infinite contrast can make up the nits difference? My room is average lit and I worry I will hate downgrading to a dimmer TV. Also, people are saying that the overall audio quality will be downgraded if you use the TV as a center chanel. That sounds to me like the TV will rob the HT-A9 of its intended 360 audio performance from the receiver unit. What is your experience? With 6 TV speakers, it should be much louder, clearer and better and I think I can literally space my HT-A9 front speakers even wider since the TV sounds are coming from its sides, back and front!
She's a beauty that's for sure! I really enjoy the home theater experience. It's been a hobby of mine for quite awhile; which includes collecting physical media. Last month I purchased a new TV to replace my older one. I got the Samsung S90C QD-OLED 77" model. I did look at a couple of SONY models. I choose to stick with Samsung since I was already familiar with the interactive menu system.
Would professional calibration needed/help on the A80L? I could get the calibration done at discounted price when bought with the tv. Not sure if a calibration is better than out-of-the-box setting for A80L. Thoughts?
Thanks for the videos. I have the same tv and sound system. I’ve had the HTA9’s for over a year now but I just ordered the TV. Going from a 55” older LED that was always too dark. Very excited for the tv to arrive in time for Dragons Dogma 2. 👍
TWINSIES! 🤣 I just bought the same TV yesterday. I'm replacing a 75" 950h. Bigger and LED to OLED. This will be my first OLED. I can't wait for the delivery.

I was right haha. Sony XR clear and Big guy in the Big Leagues Needs 83” or more! 🥂
I’ve been eyeing the A80K 77” from Costco forever, now that the A80L is out, and our living room is finally done, we’re finally going to pull the plug on it. Can’t wait!
Coming back to this video - my local BB has an Excellent Condition 83A80L with all accessories for $2600 and I’m tempted, even though I own an 77S89C.
What a beaut!! 83" sony oleds are majestic beasts
Awesome Channing!! Hopefully you told them you saw them here! The A95L is amazing!! You will love it ! Thank you for watching
Yep, I tell them every time I speak with them! I also mention FOMO also! @@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY
I had a feeling it would be this or the a95l. Congrats! With youtube at 1080p looking so compressed, Sony's processing gets the job done right :)
Congratulations on the new Sony it’s awesome 👏
Thx
So funny.. I love it.. owned the 83 a90j for over 2 years now.. that’s basically exactly what this is. Love it Bryan!!
Nice choice Brian! Had you heard that Sony's 83" uniformity was better this year and/or better than LG's or you just took a chance on it?
Great choice👍. And finally a reviewer that buys the model that he praises and recommends, even though it’s not the absolute best haha. And you are one of the first ones to show the 83 size! I didn’t know it had the heat sink and chassis of the A90j! Of course there was no better choice than a Sony tv for the ht A9. Do you think the ht a9 will have a successor next year? Maybe you can also dive into the audio space in the future.
Keep it up Brian! Greeting from Germany
Good choice for you Brian.....really love my 77"A95L
Holy smokes! Great choice!
I was thinking about upgrading my A80CJ 65" but now you got me thinking 🤔 83" Heat sink M Series Chassis. The increase of width would be 16 inches and 9 inches higher than my 65 inch. Wow! Good for you man! 👊
Am in the same boat in wanting bigger than a 77 as that is what I currently have. I could potentially get an 83 a90j for cheaper than the a80l how would those 2 face off??
Would I be right in thinking the a90j could get brighter?
Congrats on the tv ! Just purchased an s95c but now I’m debating if I return it for the a80l.
Just keep it. S95C is an upgrade from A80L regarding brightness and contrast.
Processing and upscaling are far superior on the Sony, not even close. Google OS is far better. That with no DV, worse QC, the A80L is plenty bright one the settings are changed.
Glad you went with the best TV for you. Makes a lot of sense and this is a magical panel. Enjoy brother!
Cool video Brian. I added this TV for my wishlist and hoping to scoop it up Black Friday this or next year
So is the 83” model brighter than the smaller sizes because of that heatsink or anything else? this tv here looks brighter than the 65” A80L I see at electronics stores!
It does look brighter, mainly because of glossy screen.
Bummed I missed this. I keep getting stuck at the blue and orange faced girl with the amazing blue eyes 😍
Yes I love her too🙂
Awesome work Brian.
Hopefully pick up my Sony 83 A80L on Saturday if it’s arrived. 🤞keep posting mate learning so much, also you gained another sub 😊
The A95L is clearly the better model my friend! Enjoy it! Thank you so much for watching!
At 83 inches what exact befits does it have over 65 aside from glossy panel and 100 nits ?
XR clear is the difference
@@brokenwrench404 wait the 77 doesn’t have it ?
A80L looks great Bri. Good choice. Awesome build quality. 😊People slept on this great tv. Definitely a sleeper hit of the year. 😊
Thanks Brian.. awesome choice as always!
I would like to know if the xr clear can be added with a firmware update to my 75 x93cl and why isn't it part of the x83l? Thanks
Beautiful TV you got.
Thanks
Got an 65 A80J. Can't argue with this choice. If the A80L is just a bit brighter and clearer, it would be address in "faults" I have with the tv.
Make sure the light sensor is disabled my friend
I need deep colors and contrast and the 3d pop and only 83 inch.
Which is best among Sony A80L vs LG G3.
Price is not a big deal. Which 83 inch is best. Please help.
Congratulations I’m am really surprised you didn’t get the x95l. I had the a90j 83 and Sony replaced with the x95l and I don’t think I could go back to oled after having it the brightness and reflection handling is so much better
same man, the mini led is a great tv
Would you go back if you were in a dark room?
no i wouldnt the tv performs better in a dark room @@PopcornChicken
I bought the X95L aswell but I'm having second thoughts about the A80L, in your opinion is the X95L superior to entry level sony OLED?
I ordered the 77” A80L on Monday!!! your review of it got me really into the tv and when I seen it in person I fell in love.
How have you enjoyed the A80l? Use case? (Movies, games)
Now you need to do a stream of you playing cod mw3 this weekend. Show us how the colors pop and how it handles motion
Great idea!
Great choice. I just saw the A80L at Costco and Best Buy. Phenomenal picture quality.
A80L FTW! Use that Center with the HTA9!!! Just picked up the A90J 65” from Walmart today.
Yep cool video Brian thanks for sharing
I was already going to get the same on BF sale. Your previous reviews have helped in the decision and your getting it for yourself validates it further - thanks much!
As pleased as I am with my 77" A80K, I'm not surprised.
A80L all the way. ✌️
Nope he's buying the showroom A95L from Value Electronics. at a significant discount.
Hey Brian can you please do a comparison between the 83" A80J and the 85" X95L. Which in your opinion is best for watching regular TV content and sports. Great video as always!
I don’t think he’s going to compare 2 years ago model when he has this years.
I got the X95L last week and planned to return it. Poor black contrast, screen uniformity issues, blooming, cloudy and grainy pictures drove me crazy.
Keep in mind, he picked the 83” a80L because it has the chassis of the master series a90j. The 77” does not.
The 83 A80L has a different panel and better contrast ratio than the smaller A80Ls.
@@jd3468 Pretty sure you’re thinking of the X93L Mini-LED. A80L would have WBE EX WRGB OLED panels in all sizes. All infinite contrast ratios. 83” might get a little brighter with heatsink, but not much, from what Rob Brennan said.
If you want to step back to an LED, the X95L is the one to do it. @@j.rfrazier1855
@@j.rfrazier1855 You're right. X93L not A80L. Too many Sony models.
I'm in the return period with my 77inch LG G3, now that the Sony 83 A80L is $3,999 I'm debating about exchanging it for the Sony. I can't decide what to do. I mostly watch sports, streaming, and movies. I occasionally play the PS5. Any opinions?
Nice congrats! Can you compare it to the C1 83?
If you're sitting from around 10 to 11 feet feet away, how many feet from the bottom of the TV to the floor do you think you should hang it?
Can never go wrong with Sony. Did you have to position it in a certain location in the room on account of its peak brightness?
As an a90j owner, congrats. While im ready to move on, its still a stunning image. I miss the eye searing brightness from my leds personally. And to me, that brightness is moee impoetant to making a lifelike image. I still have my x930e and it has a different sense of realism compared to my a90j. Cant wait to see what the z9m brings
Nice what size is your A90J ?
@@unknownsource4359 mines the 65 inch. It's treated me well these last two and some years!
Thank you as always Craig!
Just because Brian bought A80l 83 inch, you don’t have to. Everyone’s home and budget are different
I will and I did.
too big
barely bigger than a 65", not big enough @@summerforever6736
I am happy for you Denisessss. My living room is so bright with lots of sun light, A80L has no chance. X95L will be an apt one
If my Panny ST50 goes this year, it's getting replaced by the A80L or the A75L, whichever is cheaper at that moment!
How would you rate 83" A80L against 83" A90J and which one would you pick if the 83" A90J was 150 cheaper as it is now at black friday 2023 sales?
I have my A3000 plugged into my tv. The HT-A9 system is great. I’m gonna add the SW3 subs and speakers down the line to my setup
Good pick Brian. Curious to know what your brightness and contrast settings are at. Looks like you have a darker room. Thanks for all of your videos!
Thank you for the video Brian. Is the picture quality on the 77 inch as good as the 83 inch on this A80L?

Isn't Dolby Vision gaming's input lag so high that makes games unplayable?
@@rootcao1360 gaming in Dolby Vision is a waste of time and not something that I would ever do but I do use it for watching content when available and I also run everything through my AVR so I don’t want to be constantly switching between Dolby Vision and VRR. @@Lozin80 the Bravia 8 fixed this issue?
You always said the A80L was the best bang per buck in Sonys lineup so you're living it. Should be a nice setup for your studio and you won't be missing much in picture quality. I can still enjoy the 65 825 tcl even though my main set is so much better overall. Had to work so couldn't watch live.
Nice, I purchased mine a couple of months ago.
Good video. Liked. 👍 . I've been considering this tv. Would the Sony a5000 Soundbar work well with this on it's own or would the compatible sony subwoofer be necessary?
Beautiful TV ... Mr Brian I have a question .... The Sony HT-A9 is good for listening to music ?
What are your thoughts on s90c? They also come in 85. Is this Sony still better at PQ? AAA members can have it at a discount right now .
The 55” was WAAAAY too small for this room. I squinted to read anything and the darkness made gaming horrible on the PS5.
I think you'll be very happy my friend
