@@biffboffo My first thought was that this card had gone through the mail system. I could be wrong as who knows what lies in the mind of their programmers?
@@rootinforrelics5736 Yeah, I had the same thought as well. But they already had Posted/Unposted, which is a great term for postcards, and much more descriptive and intuitive.
@@SMPostcards Howdy, I have some post cards with writing on the back but not postmarked and no stamp, maybe hand delivered, maybe mailed in a package. I use resell kit for cross-posting, (the support mericari, eBay, posh and depop) they are beta testing a great delist feature which lets me know if it has been successfully delisted if there is a problem with a list of items. I can do the delist manually if needed, which only happens on posh when I have an offers out on an item.
Jewelry and glass are my biggest problems. The updates made changes to my listings. For example if I was selling a Waterford Brand item the item specific was changed to BOWL. I have to change almost everything. A Mikasa Brand item is a candleholder. I use appropriate categories and insert item specifics including size. When the items migrated everything was gone. I can retrieve measurements if I duplicated in the description which is about 75% of the time
@@SMPostcards I haven't seen that field yet. I'm glad to hear it though, that is one of the three fields I always filled in. FYI you can still use promoted but you have to check the box while listing the card, or go in and edit the listing. It just hasn't become available after the fact yet.
I haven’t seen the old Posted/Unposted field come back either, aside from it being a vestige of an older template of mine. Circulated is a really dumb term for postcards because it has such a specific and widely-know meaning in coin collecting.
Thank you for letting us know about this change ahead of time, so we were not blindsided. For now, I am going to continue listing; but, I will give eBay a few days to correct issues before updating cards that are already listed.
@@SMPostcards Some of things that ebay is doing is confusing. I have been selling postcards on ebay for 20 years. Also, l have been selling postcards at stamp / postcards for over 30 years. The way ebay is doing is completely different than the way you will sell postcards at shows
It's nice to see a youtuber chilling and going at the issues level-headed (unlike that other annoying youtube paper seller). That's what I'm trying to do as well. Thanks.
Thank you - that's my experience too. When I had the issue with the ebay standard envelope not being an option yesterday, the customer service lady said to please ship anyway and they would refund the difference. So they were very helpful and took note of the issue. My husband is a programmer, so I know about bugs and how long they can take to address them. I'm also with you on not understanding why the 2 categories! They don't make sense to either buyers or sellers, may as well just have chosen 1.
I figure they would fix the main items like Standard Envelope etc pretty quick. Hopefully everything settles down soon and we get back to normal business until the next time :) Thanks for watching.
Official definition of Topographical - dealing with or depicting places (especially towns), buildings, and natural prospects in a realistic and detailed manner. So places, Towns etc. would be topographical. Non- Topographical is anything that does not fit in above i.e. Rocks, People etc.
I don't think you mentioned the era specific? Linen, white border, are gone. Now it's different war era's? What the heck? Do people really sure for war era's?
It’s unsettling that this specific has been up for two or three days now. This is an obvious mistake because people generally don’t use World War eras to search for cards. I would rather it be the old system, which I hope is coming back, or at least simple decades. I’m hesitant to list anything new until they get this specific fixed.
@@biffboffo This hits a nerve for me, as well. I do hope they realize this is a mistake. I'm thinking about putting the eras as keywords in my title. Not sure if that will help or not. My store is only a month old so I am still a little new to postcards, but I'm learning quickly.
I can list an extra 20 items a week by dedicating my time an energy to one sight like Ebay. I can't get peoe to consider list opportunities from cross posting. They say work is done. Might as well....Crossposting takes time to maintain.
I know one seller that has reactivated his Delcampe account and starting to put cards up again. It is I believe a Netherlands based site so a lot of foreign buyer and sellers.
Thanks for this, Mark. Ebay has basically said not to touch any of your categories or item specifics until the 19th, as things are transitioning. New listings should be okay but older listings just leave alone for now, otherwise you'll have to re-edit after that date. Ebay is definitely one of those things where we have to adapt or die. We knew these changes were coming, we knew there would be issues (because there always are lol). I knew my categories for all of my pottery and glass were going to be screwed up. Would have been nice to be able to do something about it ahead of time, but oh well. I'll fix things as needed. Granted, I have just under 500 ebay listings, so I realize it won't take me as long to edit as others. But I am thinking this whole thing has been blown waaay out of proportion (not by you, you embodiment of calm) and people are just freaking out because of (other) UA-camrs. Y'all, it will be okay!
Thanks Dawn! Just get a bowl of curds and cheese and all will be ok! and Throw some wine in with it and it's like magic all the problem seem small compared to the real stuff!. Yes I just read about eBay saying hold off on stuff.
When I read the fall seller update and learned what they planned to do with limiting the postcard catagories, I took action. I joined Hip postcards so all my ebay listings would be "safe?
Linen is now an option under materials. Linen cards are not made from fabric. The team or whatever is making these changes has no knowledge of postcard terms. Topographical?? I also went in and made a bulk edit so I can use stamps now.
Topographical is places. Non-topographical would be a holiday card or maybe a botanical card.

Circulated means that the card was sent to someone. So it will have a post mark and most likely writing on the back.

Hello. Could the Circulated and Uncirculated be the new specific for Post and Unposted?

I thought that for awhile than a posted and non-posted field showed up in the specifics today for me?
I'm still not sure what they mean by Topical and Non Topical. Anyone see how they are defining this? Thanks
