I was first introduced to this by Winkey Pratney in a YWAM manual. I was fortunate to receive an answer to my prayerful response, “Lord I would love to meet Winkey to discuss this. Imagine my surprise later that summer 1976 I met him near (5 miles away) my home town in another town Milford Haven. He told me he got the idea from Roger Forster who I had just invited to evangelise with us in my University in Swansea. I later joined Rogers home church Ichthus. Ten wonderful years followed under his ministry. Sadly Roger passed away this year. He was a huge influence in my life. This message from Paul completes a circle of influence for me as Paul’s book and ministry has been seismic also in my life.
Once again W. Paul Young you have shaken up my snow globe of who I once thought I was to help me understand who I really because of my Abba Father's Love for me Thanks again Stephen
His book was given to me when I lived out of town with a friend. A couple years later he wrote a song that ended up being on the soundtrack for the movie. This book put itself into my life 😁.
Amazing ….. John 5:39-41 Let him who has ears hear the Logos in the Churches. Otherwise remove the dust from your feet and keep walking, there’s alot to do without wasting words.
Brother Henry, would you please clarify this for me. Paul begins by referring to Adam turning his face away from God BEFORE the encounter with the serpent. Where is this found in the scriptures? And secondly if Adam did not fall, what is Romans 5:12-21 and 1 Cor 15:21-22 talking about? I appreciate your response.
Maybe Adam didn't fall from his status but didn't act in/from his status. Maybe our status of created in the image or to be the image bearers of God hasn't changed, maybe it is the relationship that changed, not our status or reason for being. The Fall is a term humans created to describe an event, the event of Adams sin/death and the subsequent change in the relationship. The question then is why did Adam sin? Paul seems to be arguing that it was because Adam thought he was insufficient and didn't rely on his union with God to make him sufficient or pronounce him sufficient or had already made him sufficient.
Here we go brother, when we are saved our soul gets saved not our flesh, our flesh still wants and desires things that can be sinful. Notice Eve had these desires BEFORE she sinned. God puts desires into everyone including Adam and Eve.but they sinned. So death passed to all people. We die physically because of Adam. There is no sin nature handed down through Adam. Just physical death. We give in to fleshly desires. ( niv is only Bible that says sin nature) they got busted for false translation. Newer niv put back the word flesh. Greek word sarks . If we sin because of a sin nature? Then why did Adam and Eve sin? Because it doesn’t exist. It’s fleshly desires.when we sin, we become seperated from GOD. Thus need to born again. Spiritual death isn’t literal. If your spirit was actually dead? You would be dead also. ( also spiritual death is not in entire Bible. ) it real means a seperate ion has occurred between a person and the LORD.
Adam’s ‘turning’ can be read into the Hebrew Scriptures in Genesis 2. It is in the Hebrew mindset that Adam was not satisfied in his communion with Elohim after naming the animals. Therefore God made him a helpmeet. This was the ‘turning’ away from the One he was meant to be in UNION WITH and as we can see God’s affection for Adam answered his inward turning by giving him Eve. What a loving Father !
Sin is an abstraction. It is a privation of the good. It has no being / substance. Sin is demonically inspired and energised thoughts and actions that WE - as PERSONS - entertain and commit. So when God "hates sin or the sinful / wicked" in the word, His dissatisfaction is towards people - both individual and corporate - not merely an abstraction: which is also why the Father was not hating or pouring wrath out upon the Son on the cross; for then the Father would have to be pretending to be angry at the Son Who had not sinned. No, God was receiving and absorbing all the injustice and hatred and disease of our race in order to provide the way out within Himself: to heal us and to rightfully disarm the enemy. But God's judgement / penalty of sin, the "wages" of it, is death (both passively consequential and purposefully ordained due to a very real displeasure that God "feels" towards evil - both demonic and human) We ascribe love and compassion to the Deity, so why struggle to accept wrath or hate / anger as having at least some correlation with what we understand by those words: the words that the Spirit Himself inspired) Yes wrath party denotes "mortality" and the effect of His Presence upon the ignorant soul; but His wrath is to be revealed "against the godlessness and wickedness of men"... and so Christ, by entering into the place of condemnation and death in order to destroy it, becomes the Ark of our salvation: Salvation Himself, that we might escape the real wrath to come... where we might "go down with the demonic ship" so to speak. Punishment is a reality; that's why it is "the chastisement / punishment that was upon Him, that bought us peace". This doesn't mean (as it often does in the West) that God the Father is pouring wrath out upon the Son. No, again, His human soul was separated from his human body.: He "tasted death". This, along with His loving, yet torturous identification with us and the sense of abandonment, was the punishment... but all within the union of that human soul and a human body with the Divine Word. Christ takes on the penalty of our collective death - as He Who had assumed and deified our nature - in order to raise it up within Himself... in order to heal that which is predisposed to sin and death. But our personal salvation / adoption / regeneration is not merely "realised" and "perceived", because, as Christ the Word did not assume a human person - but a human nature - we as persons who actualise nature are "potentially" recipients of that which He restored within Himself. This means that we (the Church) were "chosen in Him before the foundation of the world". Of course We were all in His Mind upon the tree: you and me (unless Open Theism is true and you are only truly known from conception alone) but anyhow, we were not all "actually" saved as individuals then and there. He, as the Second Adam, made the Way for us, having purchased full redemption before the Father, before Reality. But we "believe" and "receive" (John 1) as individual persons; we actualize that restored nature... "and if any man has not the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ"... "and He breathed on them, and said, "receive the Holy Spirit" As unique Hypostasis - we come into that Triune Life... "Partakers of the Divine nature" (the risen humanity in the God- Man in the Spirit)... or not. For in the Greek Fathers, and in the Christology, Anthropology and Soteriology of the Ecumenical Councils of the first millennium, there is a clear, subtle, yet real and vital distinction between nature and person; and also a real freedom and synergy that is maintained: therefore, both Augustinian determinism and universalism are seen as two sides of the same erroneous coin) Grace and Peace X
