I fucking love this new album, but I don't agree that it's very similar to their first. There's more of a lo fi quality to the production, especially on the drums. They also use a lot more space and silence than before. The first album filled every crack with some noise whereas this has more room to breathe, and it's a LOT more downtrodden too.
Saying they're falling into some formulaic pattern made no sense to me at all. Agree with what you said, and Braindrops is way more vocally driven than Meatspace. And I think it's somewhat silly to say they're becoming formulaic while dumping on Aspirin, since that seems to be a good example of them stepping outside of this perceived formula.

I saw these guys play for FREE in Adelaide a year ago and they are easily one of the best live bands I've ever seen. They are so unique and weird and even though their sound is super depressive and their walls of noise are often hard on the ear when you listen to their records, their stage presence is so authoritative and monumental - The girls are very easy on the eye too - If you love weird, unique, modern Aussie rock King Gizz, TFS, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and Pond are the foremost proponents in the game Down Undah in this century
Love this album, glad you didn't skip it over, and don't pretend its possible to ever forget the name A Laughing Death in Meatspace. I disagree though that it sounds the same, there are no hard rock bangers on this album like Antimatter Animals on the pervious album. It's much softer (or as soft as TFS can be)
Why do you make these noises at the beginning of your video and then act like you were laughing with someone. You’re alone in your spare room and nothing funny was said prior to the start of the video clip.
He probably screamed the N word with a hard R at the end, knowing he would later just edit it out, and he's laughing knowing he just got away with it (as usual). This type of behavior is typical of Anthony at this point, but still very disappointing.

I thought the two tracks that AF didn't like (aspirin and braindrops) were standouts, (the latter's lyrics with skulls smashing like watermelons could have alienated him). I think the fact that this album was released only a year after the first, and that they have been touring continuously in between means they are in the same creative zone for both albums, I wouldn't expect a totally different sound. Both albums seem equally inspired to me.
City and Colour is releasing a new album. I don't think you've covered them before and they've been a pretty celebrated band over the years now for Canadian music
please review The Aristocrats. I learned about you via Creationist Cat(proud patreon). They named the band after the Aristocrat joke/movie(enough said?) The way they formed is pure rock legend(Guthrie Goven filled in for a missing guitarist for a gig and when they all walked off the stage, they all said this is magic we have to be a band) I recommend the third Album, Tres Caballeros. Technical, musical, and massive sense of humor. Never a dull moment.
Saw TFS with Modest Mouse last year and while I didn’t know them at the time, they’re a nice group of people who can really play and who seem really comfortable just jamming out on stage 👍🏾

Loving this album, and the fact this and Gizz both got 8’s. Australia is killing it in rock atm. I thought the album was am interesting slight progression from their last. Less keys/synth sounds and samples. A more stripped back minimalist fucked up take on pop music with the same drunken punkin guitar sound. Yet to delve into the lyrics but Garett never disappoints. It’s a 9 from me.

The Drones were a frickin amazing band. TFS is the natural extension of where Gareth was going with the last Drones record, Feelin' Kind of Free.

One of my Halloween albums this year. Also, the monologue from 5:22 to 6:07 was just wonderful.
I wasn't expecting another album from them so soon! Loved their last album a lot.
Art Punk is the best genre besides Prog, punk in general is awesome. This and Otoboke Beaver are my favorite releases of the year.
There's been so many great Aussie albums this year it's insane. I prefer their debut but this album is killer too!
