This advice is golden. I have been telling musicians this for over three decades; the song, the song, the song, is the most important element in the chain.

You know it Roy! Unfortunately, too many people put all their focus on the gear! 🙏

G.A.S. Coupable!

great video, i've been looking at it once a day for the last 2-3 days. i think it will help keep my ,gas, under control. i'll probably give it a watch once before every time i try to buy yet another plugin/piece of hardware!

my new favorite channel. thanks for your insight. i went down the rabbit hole of outboard gear about 2 years ago and i wish i never did. i love having it but i’ve wasted a lot of time researching and not creating. i’m just now learning how to use it to mix, but i only have an Apollo Twin. i have a GAP 251 going into a Cranborne EC2, WesAudio NG76, and Audioscape Opto.
i’m trying to figure out how to set it up to track and mix with them without having to reconnect cables every time. do you have any advice on how to do that? part of me wants to figure it out but honestly i made so much more music back when i just had a TLM-102 and Focusrite Clarett.

      Thank you so much buddy!
I would say, never let the gear be a hindrance. Go fully in the box if that is the case.
If you still want to use all that outboard, most advanced engineers have a patchbay, so they can reconnect their rig according to their specific needs on any given day.
Here, I’m using 2 interfaces so that I don’t have to connect and reconnect channels and outboard.
      Hope that helps! 🙏

A small question, i've seen so many ripped drummers on youtube. I've picked up the stick a few months ago, will physical exercise help me in the long run (musially) or is it unrelated?

Absolutely, for drumming longevity it’s a must. Too many old school players had to quit due to injuries, tendinitis, etc. Always better to prevent problems than only addressing them when they come!
