We FINALLY got to visit the Forbidden City - WOW😍 🇨🇳 If you haven't watched our first video in Beijing - watch it here next: ua-cam.com/video/HJz5CmeHPsg/v-deo.html And remember to leave a comment ❤
Please travel to more cities in china but also travel to villages and ancient towns. They are so beautiful. Places like lijiang are other worldly. If you can please travel their and do vlogs their.
I remember going to the US and was amazed by the scale of it. Then years later I went to China and was gobsmacked by the sheer monstrosity of it on many dimensions. I love China and its amazing culture!
Your experience of a foggy day at the Great Wall really got me thinking. For a long time, many in the West have viewed China as a mysterious figure lurking behind a fog. But once you step through the fog, you’ll find that there’s no monster-just warm, welcoming people and breathtaking scenery. I hope you have a wonderful time exploring China. I highly recommend visiting Hangzhou, where historic landscape architecture blends beautifully with modern technology. If you're a food lover, Chongqing is a must for its bold and spicy flavors, while Guangzhou offers a variety of healthy, non-spicy dishes.
The scale is by design. Imagine a foreign ambassador visiting the Chinese emperor a few centuries ago and how the scale suggests great strength and wealth of the Chinese nation.
And imagine this is possibly one of the smallest imperial palaces in Chinese history because historians and archeologists found out many of the previous palaces throughout the history of China were larger and higher, as the traditional wooden structures require very tall trees for the pillars and after thousands years of deforestation, there were not many left and the Emperor Yongle had to send the sourcing teams to risk their lives in the deepest parts of primary forests. Many of the wooden pillars currently in the Forbidden city have been replaced overtime with tree trunks of lower quality.
The Tang dynasty DaMing palace in Changan(xian today), which didn't survive from rebellion and fire, was about 4 times of the forbidden city in terms of scale.
Yeah that was definitely the takeaway of these "foreign ambassadors" from the West - China's "strength" . Lucky they were so intimidated or they might have come back, forced you all into opium addiction and burned down the Emperor's most treasured in all of China - The Summer Palace. So yeah - fortunately they really got the message not to mess with China. Not to inflict a 'century of humiliation'. And it's not just The West, the Japanese got the message too and definitely didn't dare to invade, commit a bunch of atrocities and annex Manchuria. I honestly don't understand you Chinese ultranationalist shills, because your revisionist history actually lets the countries who did these acts off the hook by you pretending China was always "powerful" when it clearly wasn't.
You guys are amazing with your positive, thoughtful and open minded attitude. Thoroughly enjoyed your video. I completely agree, the rainy atmosphere added to the timeless and mystical atmosphere of the Great Wall. The clouds coming through the window opening was surreal.
What a super interesting day in Beijing! I'd LOVE to visit the Forbidden City, have a salted caramel latte , spicy noodles AND of course walk on the Great Wall of China. Wow! And I agree: it was really extra special in rain and clouds. Thanks a million for sharing all of this with us!
The rain definitely reinstates the profundity of history of the Great Wall. You guys can accomplish anything with that peaceful mindset and optimistic outlook❤
It’s a great experience that you visited the Great Wall on a raining day. The mist and fog gave an more ancient vibe and very beautiful. Besides it would be packed with people when sunny.
Really lovely vibes, so positive and chill, I live in Beijing and moved back here last year after living in UK for 10 years, it is very safe and much more cheaper than in Europe 😊
It is great experience when you are the only few people on the great wall. I visited Great Wall once during winter and less than 10 people on the great wall. It gave you special experience to go back to ancient time.
@@2Passports1Dream I totally agree that you have chosen the right places to visit, not crowded, enjoy the tranquility of nature, I like your laughter very much, it makes me laugh happily with you in front of the screen.

Hope you had a great trip in Jakarta, and may come back again to Indonesia.😊 Keep traveling and always be safe
I just came back from Beijing in September and watching your channel brings back memories of the fun I had there. Avoid going on those guided tours if you want to enjoy your trip 😅😅
Another fantastic episode to the Chinese adventure, wow the Great Wall looks insane and so beautiful bad luck on the rain but glad for you two finally was a little quiet haha😂. Wow I’ll need a big breakfast for all those steps 😳😂. Very enjoyable as always
@13:30 you can see an old sign written both in Chinese and Manchu. As Qing China was very multi-ethnic you will often see these languages and also Mongolian and Tibetan at some historic sites in the Beijing area.
I love your videos, you are so enthusiastic and show delight in everything you see and experience, I feel like I am on your journey too. Can't wait for your next vlog......thank you.
The Palace Museum originally had 9,999 rooms, but the total number of houses in the Palace was reduced as new owners expanded their living space by connecting many small rooms into a larger room, but it still has more than 9,000 rooms today. In any case, only about half of the Forbidden City is open for tourists to visit, the rest is either under maintenance (the Forbidden City is always under repair because it is so large) or used as a place to restore cultural relics and offices.
Always a happy day when Adriana and Dylan pop up! ❤ The sheer scale of everything is really rather mind-blowing. 🤯 Despite growing up in Hong Kong, I have spent extremely limited time on the 'mainland' and China has been on my travel list for the longest time. I am not quite sure what I was / am expecting but it seems a lot more structured and organised than I would have imagined, at least as far as a big city like Beijing goes. Brilliant work as always, guys - really enjoying this series so far and looking forward to everything that is to come! Big love to the two of you x

I really enjoy your travel videos. The sense of ease and immersion you showcase while traveling is truly captivating. I've watched some travel bloggers who seem to rush through multiple locations in a day, barely spending any time to truly experience each place. However, your approach is different; you are truly embracing the essence of travel. Even on days when the weather or schedule might not be ideal, you still maintain a positive and optimistic outlook. I admire this attitude of yours. Watching your videos provides a strong sense of immersion, and I eagerly anticipate more of your content.❤
So cool that you got to experience the Great Wall all to yourselves. We've had similar experiences at other famous ancient places and it's quite magical. We learned to embrace the rainy days and hope for the best! It works out some of the time 😂
Back in the day, just imagine the soldiers and guards fully dressed in Chinese armour and carrying heavy weaponry scaling these steps especially in time of war 😮
Hi guys, showing Old & New, Perfect! Appreciate for the info how to go about Tiananmen Square, Great Wall & shopping malls. Both of u are lovely, really enjoy watching ! Thanks ! 🙏🏻
Such a great video, it brings me back there. Thank you!One little thing about the great wall: Chinese people started to build smaller pieces of great walls about 2400 years ago. Around BC221 the emperor who made reunion of the country connected northern part of great walls, and the main part of it remains till now. After that in most of the Chinese dynasties the wall were maintained, so we could meet it across the history. Enjoy your time!❤
I was ready for a coffee break too, feeling like somehow I’m with you. But I’m not sure I can afford Ralph Lauren coffee though ☕️🫣🤣 Loved the vlog, very enjoyable, thank you both 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hello!!! Surprisingly the coffee at Ralph's is still priced pretty competitively since there are so many coffee shops around - so it's not outrageous. (although chains are obviously somewhat cheaper) but it was very yummy, so worth it for a little treat!
@@2Passports1Dream Sounds like it was cheaper than I thought it would be. You’re right though if it’s a bit of a treat, a little more expensive is ok 👌🏼 Cheers ☕️☕️

it was a great opportunity to u to immerse yourself in one parts of our Chinese culture.
