About Swami Sivananda Saraswati:
Swami Sivananda (1887-1963) was one of the great Self-realized masters of India. In his life he pursued two careers, that of a successful physician and that of a yogi and sage.
Swami Sivananda was a prince among men, a jewel among saints. Service, wisdom and love were the weapons he used to conquer the hearts of men. Swami Sivananda did not found a new religion, nor did he develop any new rules of ethics and morality. Instead, he helped the Hindu become a better Hindu, the Christian a better Christian, the Muslim a better Muslim.

According to the teachings of realized masters, one cannot really comprehend the meaning of Self-realization intellectually. It can only be experienced. Self-realization is the ultimate experiential reality knowable only through direct intuitive perception by the individual. Generally, an aspirant reaches Self-realization at the culmination of disciplined and rigorous sadhana practiced under the protective guidance of a realized master or Guru.

A: If you want step by step guidance on the spiritual path, you may find the following books very much helpful (practical and in-depth advice for beginners, intermediate and advanced practitioners):
1) "A Systematic Course in the Ancient Tantric Techniques of Yoga and Kriya" by Swami Satyananda.
2) "Meditation and Spiritual Life" by Swami Yatiswarananda.
3) "Kundalini Tantra" by Swami Satyananda.
4) "Meditation and Its Practices" by Swami Adiswarananda.
These books are excellent for those who're seeking step by step guidance on the spiritual path - especially for those aspirants who're not fortunate enough to get the guidance of a living realized Guru. But self-discipline is very very important when you rely only on these books as there are chances that the practitioner may give up too easily because there is no living Guru to guide the practitioner in tough times. Self-discipline, faith and perseverance is very essential to succeed on the spiritual path.
WARNING: Don't ever try to practice any advanced sadhana without proper preparation, as it may lead to various complexes and mental problems. This is why most of us require the guidance of a realized Guru. These teachings should be followed patiently and systematically with utmost care and discipline.
Q: Is this path for everyone?
A: Whether you like it or not, true spiritual life is only for a chosen few. There can never be any mass spirituality, however beautiful this ideal may seem to you. the Bhagavad-Gita says that out of thousands of people only a few take to spiritual life, and out of the latter, fewer still really attain the highest superconscious realization. But let us all think we are these chosen few, and strive to make ourselves fit for the fulfillment of the highest spiritual ideal.

Thank you for posting and thank you to all these wise sages and thank you universe for the guidance: ) Before my journey to self 14 years ago, infinite desires to be with god guided me. At the beginning of my journey, these wise souls' words didn't make sense but deep inside my soul, I knew there was so profoundness in these words. This all sounds good but I am stuck in a world that requires effort, goals, achievement, advancement and validation and recognition through accomplishment in order to make money so I can have food and shelter.
This is understandable in our world .
Though if your soul has desire for such spiritual aspects , you can start with praying, with working on your emotional reactions, on starting to let go of things first in your mind , to let go of prejudices.

It is very hard to follow, unless and unless person go through chain of problems then only person come close to God. If the person understand true realities and do constant spiritual practice due to his/ her past live Good karma.
