    My dad had a 2012 with the 2.0 and 6 speed. Really nice and unique car.

    Just bought one this evening, going to have mechanic inspect once more (3 day cooling off period - *law) so I'll let y'all know how it goes (manual transmission of course)
    112,900k miles...

      @@juzeljames7793 1,200 miles mind you it's a used car: losing momentum or pressure between shifting gears 1 & 2, wheel bearing on the rear right, brakes soon. It's going to be an expensive fix but the key is searching diligently for quality parts and a quality mechanic (Brain's Garage, Massachusetts VW enthusiast/ #1 rated in Massachusetts.) Free plug: I brought my car there and he actually has one with 210k on it, and he drove mine around and knew what it needed, took it to another mechanic and he drove it, put it on a lift etc then came up with the same diagnosis. Gasket brakes clutch flywheel air system wheel bearings;
      Now how does the car run: absolutely BEAUTIFULLY SWIMMINGLY!!!!! albeit the clutch is the original with 113k , it still shifts smoothly, and once the repairs are made it packs quite a punch. 180 on the dash but I've got to 120 once then decided not a good idea with the repairs needed to be done, but also a lot of people's driving skills have gotten worse and or more aggressive and belligerent out here since 2020 so there's that factor.
      Heat blows cold air on the passenger side which seems to be a common problem (heat actuator or thermostat) mine is the first not the latter.
      Car is smooth, VW manual transmission has been good to me as this is my second VW. I'll post an update this weekend weather permitting. If the track is open I'll do one proper run just to see what it has, then into the shop Monday and get things done.
      Honestly for a first car, find something where you can make repairs on your own, it hit me when I was 33 after watching and paying $$$ for repairs, I slowly bought tools and started doing my own to a degree...so now no mechanic or dealer and give me the BOLLOX during negotiations lol... appreciate the question hope the answer was good.

      Not many. The biggest was intake manifold fail that was taken care of by VW under recall. I had sparks and coils replaced, the heater switch, thats it. I owned it for 6 years and 85000 miles and it was great.

      @@theautopage i looked online and it doesn't say there are recalls for the intake manifold. Did you just call an auto repair shop at a VW dealership and they ended up telling you it was a recall and fixed it for free?

      @@KenyonPayne maybe you need a new fuel filter, fuel pump, or module. Anything that has to do with mpg and better gas mileage is mainly those 3 parts.
