Idk how the sam hill I grew up here and never knew this thing existed! I’ve never been to Ashmont-Mattapan. One of few gaps in my “Ive been here” map of the T’s service area...along with the Blue Line.
I used to ride the line everyday from Ashmont to Butler and then Milton back to Ashmont, to drop my daughter off at school. She transferred to the Parrish up the street from our house a year later, but I cherish the memories of those rides. It was awesome. Going home we would walk to Dunkins, cross the bridge at the old chocolate factory and get the Milton train.
Glad to see PCC's still being used in full revenue service, we only have a few left in Toronto and they are only used every once and a while and during special events.
SgtMays We have PCC II's, which are modernized versions of about 18 of the pcc cars Septa still had in the 90's. While they are nice to look at, I actually hate how they ride.
eXACTOcREATION Yea, the one i rode in Toronto was not bad but that was a while ago. Never had time to ride the Mattapan line as i was too busy with PAX maybe next year.
Here in Philadelphia, we use the PCCs for SEPTA's Rte. 15, but they've been re-done so they have modern stuff in them. It's fully in-road, so they don't run anywhere near as quickly as the Mattapan. They're also green. We use Kawasaki LRVs for the Subway-Surface and Suburban trolley routes, though. Glad to see Toronto brings them out occasionally, though!

The old PCC streetcars which are long before the modern light rail trams of today.
It’s so quiet
Bro you would've liked the way the old ashmont used to be. The new station is ok too i guess.
I'm just wondering, Is the Mattapan trolley free? I didn't see any ticket machines at the stations.
thecooltrainguy no it is not free. It acts like a bus line and has the fair box where you board the train. It goes by the subway fare.
it is the same as there street running sections of the green line where you pay using a fare box a the front of the trolley
If you are continuing your trip, do you still pay a fare?
David Thaler are you talking about if your getting off the red line at ashmont and getting on the trolley?if so I believe you still have to pay a fare
Liam J mbta and rail fan That doesn’t seem right. Someone traveling from Cambridge or Boston to Mattapan has to pay two fares?
A deer crossed the road near Mattapan! Oh man that must be interesting huh?
It's cool the operator slowed for the deer.
Vehicle is too quiet
I can't say that every time I see the point
