I have this X7 for a year …. Totally loving it. Assisted driving helps a lot in long drives. Only diff from this version …. I have it in USA… so steering is on other side 😊

Very detailed review I too personally prefer the Joystick type gear shifter found in the previous model which accentuates well with the size of X7.

I saw Defender has edge to edge Bonnet view and more headroom and upright seating also third row more comfortable to people upto to 5.10.

Great review !! I'm considering to buy this or the X5 around Christmas this year. A bit confused between the two, I must say. Its mostly gonna be me and my partner with my parents riding with us only occasionally. Also this would mostly be used for long distance trips like say Mumbai-Ahmedabad and back. What would you suggest considering you've test driven both ? Apart from the captain seats, does the X7 offer superior ride quality than X5 ? Low NVH and superior ride quality are my top priorities.
Dude do one thing what i did, ask the showroom guy to park the X5 and X7 together, you will first see the difference right there, second ride quality, i feel that they are almost the same but i felt X7 was a little better may be because of more suspension travel, but from inside the X7 beats the X5 , you get a larger cabin and the driving feel of sitting higher and a bigger car is alo a thing. Captian seats are very comfortable, way better than the bench seats in the X5, now finally comes the price, X7 is almost 12 to 14lks more, which isnt much, but X7 more looks like a suv worth more than a crore but in my opinion X5 doesnt look all that grand. Hope this helps

I can comment because I own an X5m40i (purchased on Aug 22), and I drive from Gurgaon everywhere ( no flying for me ).
I have driven to
Goa - 02 Trips.
Mumbai - 02 Trips
Shirdi - 03 Trips.
Jaipur / Ajmer / Jodhpur - 02 Trips
Agra - 02 Trips
Mangalore - 01 Trip. ( from Goa )
why did I choose X5 over x7?
1. Size ( x5 looks more compact, finished version over the bloat of x7 ) IMO X7 is more bloated without any additional engine power; it's the same engine.
2. Parking & Driving - I can safely say driving X5 is much more fun on congested city roads, and it does not need mental exercise to park this car ( in part thanks to the excellent 360 camera and graphics ). I have driven X5 through maddening traffic in Jaipur, Agra, and Mumbai.
3. Rear Seats - Now, this is where it gets super interesting; as I drive long distances across the county, at times, the rear seat becomes my defacto bed with a complete light mattress, pillow, and quilt (haha) and this was my main reason to go for X5 over X7 as my needs were very very specific. You must be wondering why I am driving a top-of-line BMW and sleeping in a car - well, just for fun, and I am a hardcore traveler.
4. Use of Funds Saved over X7 - Instead of paying an extra Rs 14 lakhs for X7, I bought a 5Yr ( 100K km) BRI / BSI package and ceramic coating from a BMW dealer.
5. Cargo Area - I specifically wanted an enclosed separate cargo area, which X5 offers with just a 15 cuft space difference.
6. Ride Quality / Performace - I find that X5 balances comfort and pleasure. It has a relatively decent large size, excellent steering balance, and is lighter than the X7, providing a more remarkable ride.
7. Suitability - I find it more than suitable for almost all rides so far, and I have done a bit ( a bit not much ) of off-roading as well - it serves my purpose perfectly.
I am not into this rat race that a bigger looking car will be more pronounced and add extra whatever you can think of
The Problems
1. Mileage - I have a mixed bag from 4 km to 11.5 km on highways.
2. Door rattling - this has been insane since delivery, and I have had to visit the workshop a few times already.
3. Blind Spot - THIS IS MAJOR ISSUE, and I have had a few serious close shaves due to seat height; I reckon the blind spot will be more problematic on bigger cars like X7. I pride myself on being an alert driver, but the exclusion of BSM is a significant issue.
4. Ability to move the car with a remote.
5. Wireless charging - this does not work, and it heats the phone.
Ultimately, it is to each his own and what you want, but if you want a brilliant driving machine that is safe as well, don't look beyond X5 or X7.

Sure will do so if i do get the X5, but i did do the testdrive of both X7 and X5 several times, X5 is definitely faster as it is lighter, But the feeling of a bigger car and being higger plus the space inside, I went with the X7. Both drive fast, and yes, diesel is faster than petrol

Met you at the porsche showroom and i am glad that you got the X7 which is what i said as soon as you asked me its much better than the Cayenne but not better than the GLS in ride comfort I believe 😅. My family and I loved the X7 and zeroed in and went ahead with the booking..
Had 2 doubts though.We test drove the 40i and it was just exceptional.However the BMW dealer said that they do not have the 40d for test drive currently (Hyderabad)..So just wanted to know how the diesel feels compared to the petrol if you know? Does the torque make much of a difference and is there a large margin in mileage between the two??
Secondly, as we do not have a Porsche dealership in Hyderabad, we wanted to know how the Macan is to drive (performance,suspension, torque etc) and also the Cayenne.
I know you mentioned it in the video but can you give me a clear picture on how the Cayenne and Macan compare to the X7..

Great question, buy the 40d, yes it is punchier than the petrol no doubt thus it's about 3 to 4 lks more expensive than the petrol here in India. Coming to porche macan, bro just stay away, I drove it myself , it isn't worth that 1 CR plus price tag, first it is so cramped inside, suspension is horrible, yes it's fast but I am sure u aren't racing everyday and like being uncomfortable inside , cayanne I feel is way better than the macan, like 100 times, plus the interior is also super cool, but if u say comfort, x7 beats it with superior ride quality, and bro the seats , are so soft, plus the second row bench seats are bloody comfortable, yes porche cayanne may look good, but I love how I feel when I drive the x7, plus porche cayanne can touch 2 cr . Hope it helps

I feel like A pillars are kinda thick and might mess with visibility for vehicle coming from the right side. Also kinda bummed that a car worth 1.50cr doesn't have blind spot assist lol.

yes pillars are thick, u r right, but i personally dint feel much of a hinderence, and yes i was also sad that the blind spot monitoring isnt thr.
True, and I have had conversation after conversation with BMW India about not including Blind Spot Monitoring in both X5 and X7 - just pure ego and stupidity. The funny part is that the same features are available on the same platforms in the USA and worldwide, so why is it specifically excluded from cars in India? Just pure ego nothing else.

Hi sir . What is the annual cost of maintenance for X7 ? I am planning to get a BMW X5 , would like to know the difference in the cost of annual maintenance between X5 and X7 .
i havent completed a year bro, so i really have no idea regarding the annual cost, plus i have taken the maintainence package of 5 years which is offered by bmw which costed about 10lks, so anything happens to the car in 5 years i dont have to pay anything, this also includes the services and washing.
Regarding what to buy, X5 or x7, i was under the same confusion, i was first going with the x5 thinking x7 may be for 2cr or so, but when i asked it was just 14 lks more, and i get a bigger, higher car with captian seats which are very comfortable, but x5 will be faster but still how fast are we going to drive , so i took the x7. plus i dint feel x5 looked like a 1.4 cr onroad car. hope this helps.

I would strongly suggest you sit in the new x7 , it's far far better inside, drives better, rides better, looks are a personal choice but I can assure u, u will be fascinated just as I was.

It doesn't have all, plus I always keep it turned off, us as Indians are very alert and hv a very strong mind of driving in India with our traffic conditions, if u ask a person living in uk or abroad to drive here they will get very scared, so we Indians don't need adas, plus in India using adas is very risky, I feel we r smarter than adas

Well in the x5 u sit lower, also I felt x5 was a little quicker as both have the same engine and power but x5 is lighter, but ride quality is better in the x7

Bro, hope u doing good man. I am telling u bro, i did try a friends old generation BMW X7, the ride quality of which was good, but trust me, over our indian roads i feel this is much more smooth, also the initial power which helps in india specially in stop and go traffic is really quick. looks are a personal choice i guess. even the interior of 2024 is so daam neat.

@@mohitadvani81 I had options like porsche cayanne and land rover defender..... Porsche is one waste car no power they have reduced the power nd removed the v8 engine and lot of options and extras.... Approximately 50-60lakhs to spec it up to top model.....

Hey, I was confused as well, I will tell u what, if u want a car whose pick up is quick, fast, luxury, comfort and ride quality just go for the bmw x7, but go for the 40d and not the petrol, as it's faster and quicker, a slight touch on the accelerator and it will fly, but if u r just looking at sitting very high, macho looking suv, big, and decent ride quality then I would say defender, but remember x7 gives u very adult usable six seats, it has captian seats second row this very comfortable seats, recline is just awesome, plus the last row is open as the second row has captian seats, so if ur kids or any adult is seated on the second row u can interact , u won't feel blocked what u will feel in the gls and defender because of the bench seats. Hope I helped

This gen is downgrade as they removed some features and he became fan wow reviewer.
bro u r right, they have, but trust me the downgrades are like in 1 or 2 areas , but the upgrades are far far better, specially the seats, very different than the old one, looks really good to my eyes, and the pick up because of the 48v electric motor is really good. try it and let me know
