Hi John! Great addition with the new modules! It's always nice to see our railways expanding!!! Love how neat your wiring is! Love the new Hunslet, looking fine in its BP livery, and looking good pulling a decent rake of wagons! The NGS wagon kits look very good too! Your selection of 3D printed models are excellent! I'm really tempted by a 3D printer, but don't fancy dealing with the mess of using a resin one - plus the extra space required to run one! Keep up the good work mate! All the best, Ian.
Hello Ian, Yes I managed to move things around a bit in my small room to squeeze a bit more in. I'm loving the BP Hunslet and its fine looking livery. The NGS wagons were a fair bit of work and fiddly as well but they have come up looking good. I've now got some NGS tankers to do as well! I was a bit overwhelmed at first with the resin printer but like anything after a while you get used to it. You need really good ventilation around where you use it (I have it in the same room as my layout which is a room behind the garage and always have the window of the room open and the back roller door of the garage open) and I ended up switching from a standard resin to a plant based as it had much much much less of an odor. Cheers!
Very nice wiring. Looking good. Thanks for sharing. Dave
Cheers Dave
Great update John, looks great and loved all of the 3D modelling. Keep up the great work and sharing your experiences and thoughts. Cheers, Brian 👍🙂
Thanks, Brian, for watching. All the best!
amazing wiring and electronics! awesome printing! and sweet new items and running. nice update John! :)
Hi John, and thanks, all the best!
Fantastic update - always love to see your work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice update, it looks great! Always look forward to them and seeing the progress and changes. Nice 3D printing as well.
Thank you, the detail on the resin prints is amazing, and I was surprised how thin you can actually print
Nice update John. Plenty going on. Good inspiration.
Thanks and all the best
Greetings to the Upside-down 🦘 and hello John 👋 Love the green 💚 and gold 💛 theme 😁 even down to the wiring 😇 Always a sucker for BP rake 🤩 and the Hunslet is a gorgeous addition 😍 A resin 3D printer is a phenomenally useful tool 🔧 particularly for us N Gaugers 🌞 The miniaturisation ray gun 🔫 on Thingyverse models is a fun way of adding stuff to the layout not available anywhere else 😇 Very enjoyable update 👍 best wishes from the Green & Gold 🇮🇪 Island ☘️
Hello Paul, I love the BP Hunslet it does look so good. Green (and gold) is always pleasing to the eye! 👀 I would like more BP in green, but they seem to be a rare species these days. Thanks for watching and cheers from the land down under
Hi John, Excellent work on the wiring, very neat and fault finding would be much much easier than the spiders web we often see. Like the extension and the 3D printed stuff is brilliant. Cheers
Hi Chris, the module setup seems to be simpler in terms of wiring compared to a permanent layout from what I can see. Always try to make it neat, but sometimes you just end up with a mess of wires! Cheers
The industrial / coal triple module looks fantastic !
Hi William, I was originally going to leave the original double module and just add a single on to it, but I thought building a triple would be better as it would eliminate one join between the modules. I'm glad I did it. For me, it's not that difficult to make a new module.
Hi John, Enjoyed the update video and the new track extension will look great with the two bridges and the scenery in the middle. Maybe the road at the end of the street can drop down into a nice scenic area in the countryside? You showed off the array of things you can do with 3D printing, coal winding tower looks great! Some nice additions to the loco and rolling stock fleet! Cheers Gary
Hi Gary, yes I had that exact thought (great minds.... ) about the street as I would like to put some greenery at the bottom there so that I think that idea will work out well. The only thing with the coal winding tower was trying to scale it to look right, the person who designed it said the model was in either HO or OO (can't remember). I did scale it down to N scale but it looked tiny so I printed it out full size. Oh, and I need to slow down on buying locos and rolling stock, I think I have enough for the moment! John
Wow, John... that's some major changes there as promised. Love the new train, as well. What's funny is what struck me most int he video is not the new build changes, as detailed and cool as they are, but that you were using RCA jacks for they system. Flashbacks to my old stereo days, lol. Anyhow, great update and looking forward to the rest of the build!
Hello Anthony, yearscago when the Australian T Trak standards were written, they decided on RCA connectors for the power feed. They work very nicely and they are cheap as well! Yes, everything years ago was RCA before the HDMI revolution. I love the fact that vinyls/records have made a comeback, even went out and purchased a new turntable to play my old vinyls. 80s 🎵 rules! 🤣
owing along nicely John. Provided some ideas for me to work on. Stu
Hi Stu, thanks for watching and all the best
Nice update. Looking forward to further progress 👍
Thankyou very much!
Hi John, it’s amazing the difference that one module extension has made and I shall look forward to see what you do with it as you go along.
I like the coal mine, the Scalescenes warehouse you’ve built works very well and nicely built as usual.
That little Hunslett can pull a good rake and is another nice addition to the layout. Rally like that class 47 set to, nice when you pick up a bargain.
Nice update John, look forward to the next one, cheers for now, John
G'day John, like everything on my layout there is never ending though of what to do in terms of scenery. I started this with no real plan so I'm kind of making things up as I go! I do want to put more of a rural slant on part of the layout (more greenery, etc). When I saw that Class 47 set I had to have it! It was like brand new, the guy I purchased it from had hardly run it. All the best.
Thank you for a most interesting update - great progress - and useful to see how you wired the layout (very clever). Perhaps a pub and garden area at the bottom of the new hill - always a popular addition?!?!!
Hi Alex and thanks for the suggestion, I want to make that area down there more rural and have had a couple of suggestions. Decisions, decisions..... All the best.
