Sounds we'd keep hearing for a decade: the guitars at 2:48 here are in Chucky vs Giant Tortoise ("Pico de Gallo").
Sorry for crappy album cover qualitiy. the size of the image is 306x306 and no bigger size exists of this album cover. sorry guys, I hope you enjoyed this video though :)
They used this as a early Tshirt design too... you can find remnant images of it on the wayback machine.
I've been listening for over a decade now and have never heard it. These takes are so raw and unfiltered. The crackling of the mics just add to the aggressive, powerful sounds, and makes the harmonics in the first song (and the rest of Will Swan's beachy guitar) sound all-the-more soothing. Like a breath of fresh air in the middle of a turbulent stream
the contrast between the distorted and clean guitars are amazing
always so sudden!
I remember that moment when I heard Chucky v. The Giant Tortoise and I noticed the riff on the bridge was from Attack of the Dashing Young and Bold. I got hype af. I felt like a good fan. 😂
damn nice catch. those two songs are 10 years and like 3-4 lineups apart but still share some DNA
@@nitothequito 1:14 - 1:27 from dashing young and bold is on 1:35 - 1:50 from chucky
Gottdamn Craig and Mess. Such a beautiful combination
Dude whoever uploaded this is a god. I've been looking for this first song for years. You have no idea how thankful I am.
Umm as someone who considered themself a long time dgd fan starting from the “whatever I say is royal ocean” album and endured the Jonny, Kurt and now Tilian eras, how have I never heard of this yet!?
I even follow the side bands that Will Swan produces like secret band, a lot like birds, sianvar, etc. and just stumbled upon this epic upload!!!
I actually remember playing attack of the dashing bold on my guitar probably over 10 years ago so it's been around for sure, but it's very unknown!
Dude same, for some reason I remember the names of these songs but I've actually never heard them before
whoever disliked it and ruined elder goose's statement..I'm displeased
God they’re absolutely astonishing no matter how many times I listen to their songs
11:37 that guitar always gives me chills for reasons unknown but i'm ok with that
attack of the dashing young should have been in WISIRO
1:14 Chucky vs. The Giant Tortoise, anyone?
They probably revised that idea because that album was released in 2016 and this video is from 2015
Holy shit. I forgot this existed i remember how much of a gem this was back in the day! I love jonny in Ghost Runner on Third also a underrated band
I love the guitar
At this moment in time, The Importance of Cocaine's initial name was "Hot Plate", as it was probably named on this EP.
+kingboostudios looks like there was another demo song, called Indie Song by DGD
BigElephant Yeah that song is probably older than this EP, that song was only played live and was never recorded for a release. You can find live performances of that song on UA-cam though.
♡historic scene document♡
the different versions got me geekin man. dgd is deff my favorite band from my childhood lil scene stage, but this is way beyond this. jonny is raw talent
Dashing young and bold should’ve been included in tree city sessions
Thank you for uploading this!!!
Who dares dislike this?
I didn't even know this existed!!! Thank you
this is incredibly incredible
I always loved the dynamic of two vocalists going at the same time while not hogging attention. The instrumentals add on to this even more giving you plenty to keep track of and enjoy. (This demo was pretty shitty, good thing they got picked up.)
If by "shitty" you mean the really "underground" tone the album has that makes it sound almost like you're listening to a band play live at a venue in someone's basement while a tiny moshpit is wailing away, then sure. But that's a good thing in my opinion.
If I was the record label guy who first heard this demo I would IMMEDIATELY rush to sign them as they have 3 things that a mid 2000s alt/hard-core scene band would kill to have: 1) Incredibly unique guitar and vocals. Not just on a technical level either. They just OOZE style.
2) Fills a gap between more mainstream post hard-core bands marketable on hot topic t-shirts and underground hipster bands.
3) incredible gift for writing songs into stand alone experiences. Each song gives off its own vibe and they are all written in such a way that you could insert them into almost any other DGD album replacing song number 5 etc.. and it'd feel right at home.
In short what I'm saying is: their "shitty demo" feel is the thing that makes them great. Their choice to focus on incredible technical instrumentals with soaring groovy vocals alongside a basement scene atmosphere instead of creating a perfectly chopped up auto tuned radio trackset is in my humble opinion the main reason they are so beloved to this day.
This was my favorite song for the majority of my life haha. Dashing young and bold
what?! never heard this ty so muvh!!!
Thank you so much for this! I had been trying to find a good quality version of these, and you delivered what I've been trying to find for quite some years now! Thank you thank you thank you!
It’s great seeing parts of the demos in songs they make now
👊 💥 yeah was looking for this gem 💎.
This is better quality than WISIRO lmao
Yeah, somehow between this & DBM1, Jon's screams got WAY worse. Then better again.
My favorite demo ever
Thank you
awesome voice craig
Nice upload
Legendary
No dislikes, just like it should be
This comment draws attention from trolls who are going to dislike it now ;_;
If you put your phone in the microwave for 5 seconds, then pour rice on it, and then delete system32 you can watch UA-cam videos on mobile.
wow this is someting amazing!, i love dgd
Crazy how far dgd has come
great!!!
2024 baby!
The primal state of beauty....!!!!
God dammit universe, do me the courtesy of discovering this like wayy sooner in my next life. Thnx I know ur reading this thnx preciate it
Hearing artificial selection and hearing how much they changed and got better is truly amazing 😊
Its like a connection to the past, where they started at, how they were amazing and just got even better
But this is still a bop no matter what. Every release seems to have its own special sound that cant be found on any other album is crazy
I’m not a huge fan or anything but I prefer this demo to the rest of DGD discography. Missed out on this when I was a lil scene kid but luckily it was uploaded here for me to discover & lemme tell you I fucking love this shit! 05-09 is the sweet spot, atleast somewhere around there.
They got better technically, production wise, song writing wise.. but this is raw from the heart. You can tell they where hungry back then and had nothing to lose. I’ll gladly take this over any of they’re new stuff
God, old DGD is so good!
i cant believe im barely finding this im pissed
Where did you come upon this demo, do you own or know somebody who owns the CD? I'm very curious about this release
Stephen Matoian right??? I was talking to someone who liked DGD but they never heard these songs before and I couldn’t believe it! I want the hard copy exclusives that they don’t have on streaming apps so I can show people their brilliance even at the beginning.
@@BladesOfAltair4Ezio this is probably back from the days of MySpace when bands would post demos and signal boost them and such
2020!!!!!
2021!!!!!!!!
The first song seem like a demo version of tidal waves to me
It's "Attack of the Dashing Young and Bold", it was the first song they wrote together.
ROOTS
2019
omg this is top tier emo we have right here. thanks for sharing
Real dgd
For real. I only listen to their first five releases, any thing after Acceptance speech im not a fan of . . .
HOW IN THE LIVING FUCK have I not found this until now.
Such snow these weeks when you went away
Sooo good. Importance of KAKAYNE is the best.
This is unlocking memories
This is unlocking memories
Holy fucking s h i t this is unlocking memories
Whooooaa
Jonny Craig needs to be back in DGD. Please.
when you have lived it so you know exactly what the lyrics of Every song are about #chilling always one of my favorite bands (with every singer except tillian)
How come no one is talking about these harmonics
How the FUCK am I just now finding out about this
Johnny ain't singing he's just hollering his ass off in the first song🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wish the first song existed
I mean…you’re listening to it…how doesn’t it exist? I’m really high right now tho so.
@@jordantruxton yah it doesn't exist, just like the guy across the room from you. Lmao I mean in the actual WISIRO album
ANQTIUE THAT ARENT TOO PLF, COLLAR GREEEES
That one dislike :(
Did they sell this at shows?
xTreyray
Their debut album.
"Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean"
Good listen. Check it out, you'll thank me later.
The Vietnam demo sounds better than the actual song on WISIRO imo, especially Jonny's vocals
Sex to my ears still in 2018.
The bees knees
jonny was and always will be the best
Vapor_2u
1:14 riding a rhino pico de gallo
I see they took the riding a rhino Pico de gallo riff from this
Anyone have the contract info of the dude that recorded this?
What's name of first song
Attack of the Dashing Young and Bold, It hasn't been rereleased in any form unlike the other 2 tracks.
need "Indie Song" here :(
This and used to be good what happened
what's the name of this song specifically
the 1st is (attack of the dashing young and bold) the 2nd is (the importance of cocaine) and 3rd is (the robot vs battle of heroine in vietnam)
where can i download this?
It's here, along with some DBM1 and Deathstar demos/pre-production: bsidearchive.wordpress.com/category/dance-gavin-dance/
jhonny craig es nekro de fun people, no me jodas...
Hello i been thinking lately
I wish you were still my baby
But maybe one day we will see eachother again
For now i will hold on to this pen
Just cant wait to see you and hold you again lol idk thats all i got jkjk
_Wear parts of victims organs, they’ll give you better style_
I can see the early Alesana influence is quite strong on this EP.
just my opinion but this EP is way better than any DGD record with tilian. Classic
Nothing could ever touch these old jonny songs. Makes me miss being a teenager
jon's solo release for rent money was better than the entirety of the tilian era discography
The part at 1.20 sounds a lot like chucky and the giant tortoise haha
Everyone loves Jonny on the internet but the people who paid to see these guys and having Jonny being too fucked up to perform was a constant slap in the face! Making the other guys work even harder just to try and salvage entire tours.
The Screaming is wayy to rapsy but whatever
wow jonny used to be so tone deaf hes a way better singer now, this stuff still bumps though c;
AlexTSTFFTP don't know if he's tone deaf so much as at this time he was young and had poor vocal conttol
Bro. Not all heros wear capes. Thank you uploader
