Yes my favorite conditioning implement is the chishi it works the hand grip. the forearm. biceps, triceps, and shoulder. When combined with full body squats, it becomes a total body workout.

Ah, thank you so much, John! The sound was definitely terrible - I wish we had invested in good sound from the beginning, but we have definitely learned a great deal 🙏🏻

@@GojuRyuKarateCentre so true, I even downloaded the book you referred “ the art of hojo undo “, I am from India, Haryana is the state I was born in, we are from shatriya clan, ( warriors ) but in the present time because of lots of fast transformation people are running towards Gym and artificial products and which is damaging their core. I am just on the path to bring our ancestors knowledge back to the coming generation. I was looking for this equipment since long and dropped on this video of yours and then you passed me this amazing book. Blessings and love always to you , keep shining always 💫💫💫

This is such important and noble work you do - helping the next generation learn that nothing strong is built fast or easy. So honoured to receive these kind words from you, and to be able to share this martial journey across the world with you. Please let me know what you think of the book when you finish it - I hope you will find it as useful as I have
      🌺🙇🏻‍♀️🌺
May your training be strong, and your path blessed 💫💫💫

@@GojuRyuKarateCentre thanks a lot, May we will meet on the same path some day, I feel it’s our responsibility to keep holding in one hand our traditional knowledge and values and in another hand latest technology. Only then we will be able to handle the pace of this fast changing world. I will definitely share my views related to book and training. Please add me on Facebook as well if your team is there too, This is my profile name ‘ Aadil Chahal ‘ , you will easily find, Stay blessed always and keep shining 💫🙏💫

Hi Zoë Sensei, as previously mentioned, I started Chishi a short while ago and find it incredibly beneficial to training. This video opens the mind to so much more and thank you for this. The attention to detail and explanation is excellent and realized that while my 2kg (4 and a half lb) is great, I can to add more weight to my Chishi to build more strength and joint development. Take care and big OSU from 🇨🇦

Thank you for sharing these exercises, Chishi helped me to have fun again when I'm training !
And your Dojo seems to be a place so quiet and relaxing, it adds to the quality of the video.

Ah, thank you so much for these very kind words! This was an early video of ours, so the sound quality actually isn't great, but we have since done more chishi videos.
I can do chishi for hours - it becomes so meditative once you get into a flow state, and wonderful for overall improvement of our karate.

Great explanation and attention to small details on these exercises. Micheal Clarke’s book is an excellent recommendation. I made my chishi out of concrete, but my Sensei did his by drilling into a stone (looks way cooler, but it takes a lot more work and skill to craft).

Congratulations, sensei. May I ask if I can training and graduating at Goju Ryu online? Here in Mesquita/Rio de Janeiro, I couldn't find any Goju Ryu Dojo. I think that Goju is the best style. Abraços.

Hello, Rômulo! So nice to hear from you :)
Unfortunately we don't offer any online gradings, but we do try do Zoom seminars every couple of months. Please do watch our feed for news of our next seminar - we hope you can join us!
A similar style that might be available in your area with the same/similar kata is Goju Kai and Kyokushin. It is always best to train in a dojo wherever possible :)
