This was super useful! Now it's not so scary anymore to see which lenses I can swap out between different cameras. As long as they cover, I'm now pretty confident there's a way to make it work. Thanks!

Really well done... good explanations with visual demonstrations, and nice production values. Thanks!

one other point, the flange method also applies to the shutters on older Linhof Technika cameras, esp. 5x7" where it is mounted to a compound shutter (older type), or sometimes a "dial set" shutter, with a shutter speed dial on the front, similar to a Leica M early type, you have a cylinder on top, this is not a piston operation shutter!, it is an anvil to crack this flange thread.

Hi, wondering what are your thoughts on process lenses? Seeing some Cooke and Nikon ones for good prices that can cover ULF

I make my own lens boards out of wood, and plastic, simply cut to size and drill the holes using and adjustable circle hole cutter. Just make sure you use a file to file down the edge of top and bottom so that the lock into place on the camera face.

I use a tiny amount of candle wax on all my lens threads to prevent seizure. Make sure to use a clean qtip to remove excess! Remember your filter threads too.

Excellent video. Can you elaborate on the Sinar to Linhof lens board adapter? Is it an actual Sinar manufactured board or a generic brand? Thanks

Mine is generic. I bought it from an eBay seller based in China. It is extremely well made and I think I got it for around $50 at the time.

@@TheNakedPhotographer Thank you for that. I was concerned about the quality and fit of the Chinese product; light leaks and such. I may just purchase one. Thanks again.

Just like anything, I’m sure some are made to a higher quality than others. The one I have is currently here: rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F350140071862

Are you aware of any negatives (no pun intended) for mounting an enlarger lens upside down? It's the only way it'll fit with my hacked setup, at least for now. Will sharpness and optical performance still be the same? As far as I can tell, it seems to perform the same even though there's different size elements between front and back of lens. (Its not symmetrical on either side of board)

Could you please comment on lens sizes related to the negative to print? For 35 film is 50 mm but what about medium format like 6x7 or 6x9 or the large panoramic 6x17?
    Thank you

That’s a great question! A basic rule of thumb is to use the same focal length enlarging lens as one considered “normal” for the film format, but there always a few exceptions. I’ll see if I can make a short video covering the topic more clearly very soon.
