The Nat Geo documentary I referenced was done when the Yugoslavia was still a thing, and when quality was still given importance. Here is another interesting fact as well about this war: Before Operation focus, Israel invented the first rocket propelled bomb to effectively shut down concrete runways on airfields, something that wasn't possible before then. There's a level of tribalism that exists amongst Arabs (even under the same flag) that's the cause for weak leadership and major communication gaps that resulted in such a devastating defeat. They just couldn't formulate a cohesive plan and act collectively in striking Israel. Egypt, Syria, Jordan, etc. were all brought together for mutual hatred of the Jews and fought the war based solely on their individual interests.
You are right, but it's also moral. Arabs have a country to retreat to, during battle their moral quickly drops, and they retreat quickly. Arabs reason to fight is mostly hatred toward western culture and respect, while Israelis motivation is to keep their house and family safe, which is much greater. Israelis will never retreat, and they will risk everything to win.
@@edansw Of course, there is so many psychological aspects in play. Very few can compare to Israeli pilots. Air superiority is absolutely key in any conflict. The Israelis knowingly achieved this at the start. The psychological, morale, and tactical aspect of being bombed at any moment is not good for ground trools. Aerial reconnaissance basically predicts any counter-offensive, making it extremely difficult to regain lost ground. Military planning on the part of the Arab collective was absolutely atrocious. They had superior numbers and could've potentially capitalized on an element of surprise. They just couldn't effectively dialogue and plan together.

Look at what's going at the borders of Israel today. The Arabs could not maintain a cohesive objective on the battlefield because there existed no central leadership. This is where tribalism comes into play. Arab soldiers are solely loyal to their commanders and these commanders operate with impunity. The issue of morale is based more on strategic and tactical defeat. Of course, the issue of defending/regaining one's homeland is at play. But this can be argued equally for the Arabs and Israelis.

They're there to lessen border tensions, provide some border protection while the regular armies are stationed away from the border, and basically prevent hotheads from causing some incident. They were there with the consent of the Egyptian government. When the Egyptian government withdrew that consent, they had to leave.

During WW2 the "bridge problem" was very comman in the german army. especially in late war german tanks became rediciolously heavy and big. Most smaller bridges couldnt be passed anymore do to fear of the bridge collabsing or the tank was simply to big.

There's a level of tribalism that exists amongst Arabs (even under the same flag) that's the cause for weak leadership and major communication gaps that resulted in such a devastating defeat. They just couldn't formulate a cohesive plan and act collectively in striking Israel. Egypt, Syria, Jordan, etc. were all brought together for mutual hatred of the Jews and fought the war based solely on their individual interests.
You are right, but it's also moral. Arabs have a country to retreat to, during battle their moral quickly drops, and they retreat quickly. Arabs reason to fight is mostly hatred toward western culture and respect, while Israelis motivation is to keep their house and family safe, which is much greater. Israelis will never retreat, and they will risk everything to win.

The Israelis knowingly achieved this at the start. The psychological, morale, and tactical aspect of being bombed at any moment is not good for ground trools. Aerial reconnaissance basically predicts any counter-offensive, making it extremely difficult to regain lost ground. Military planning on the part of the Arab collective was absolutely atrocious. They had superior numbers and could've potentially capitalized on an element of surprise. They just couldn't effectively dialogue and plan together.
