my dad and mom both grew up on this line many years ago (Hudson and Quincy) and I was born in Hillsdale. Always fascinated by this line, going back to seeing the NYC and later PC geeps handling trains. What an awesome video.
Rip to the critter running along inside the right rail at 6:02
I formerly worked for a branch line operation as a brakeman, so I have seen this view in person. It never gets old. Thankyou
I've always liked these style of locomotives
to
Delay in Block, Another fine Production!
Nice ride along nice job getting those EMDs to notch up smoothly to50 mph
As a lifelong Hillsdale resident, it's neat to see the views along the rails of areas I would never be able to see in my own county. I'm familiar with every crossing in this video from Fremont to the end. Interesting note is the Hallett St. Overpass (1:10:22) only has about a 10' clearance underneath....RV's and U-Haul rental vehicles are damaged every year without fail from people not paying attention! Needless to say, the bridge never gets damaged, the vehicles on the other hand, well lol......The folks at this RR are great people, I am friends with several guys that work there. Their offices are located in the old NYC freight depot which I love to go inside whenever I get the chance. Thanks for posting.
Well I'm close to u this is my hometown railroad the tracks r right next to my house u can even see in my profile picture
There is a sweet sound with Therese Ends the sound of the turbochargers spoiling up. Like Steppinwolf called trains " Magic Carpets Made of Steel" I 'll leave it like that And Delay in Block. " Another Fine production
Nice ride, I like to see inside the cab as well, watching the engineer. Very relaxing ride.
2185….❤this, even 5 years later..👍🏻🚂
I didn't know they carried a chainsaw on board but I didn't even think about fallen trees.
I really like these ride alongs...definitely relaxing, and its cool to see what the train crew sees. This route looks very scenic, indeed.
there is nothing scenic about this route.
Try a Canadian National route to see magnificent scenery!
@@TheSuperStarCarWash then u have never been farther on this route this is one of the more scenic routes and ik cuz the railroad tracks are right next to my house
Now that was fun, please do more like this, thanks!
Love those EMD's.
Relaxing Ride.
Great video and scenery Thanks D.I.B.
I know this sounds crazy. But I miss the old wayside utility poles. They gave the railroads a sort of nostalgic flare.
Love the drone at 48:25 (Phantom 4, I think.)
Drone sighting!.... There is a few seconds when a drone is seen shooting the train. It comes down the tracks and goes left about 47:30 to 48:00 mark.....
Back when I worked for Conrail,; we had alot of EMD series power on our trains. I guess all things good or bad get phased out. Nice ride along putting the air.on hear those EMDs wisper as they cut up some fallentrees bringing the train back up to track speed.
Looks like track speed is around40 jost a guess!
Well kept track and balest
Enjoyed the video
Presume the camera is fixed for black box reasons say a car on crossing or problem withe track ect
The small short lines have a hell of an overhead keeping the line up to speck who cuts back the hedges and trees
On the Ffestiniog narrow gague rr in North Wales UK they have a cherry picker on a wagon converted from a utility Land Rover could do same with a tractor hedge/tree cutter/flailer
The different canal and rr societies try to get machinery to help the volunteers with their work
Thanks for a scenic video
I also like these ride alongs. One suggestion if I my be so bold, it would be a great addition to include either at the beginning or end video of the engines and consist so the viewer would know what they are riding and pulling.
I agree
and add some in cab shots too
It sad at the start what the motive power was
Did anybody else notice the little creature run over at the 6 min mark.
JD Video Gaming 1 I never noticed that! Wow.
I did
That was pretty cool, what about riding on the inside of the engine. That would be great
Love this channel and trains in Michigan. Do a ride through Mt. Pleasant or too Midland.
i missed to give u a thumb up on the last video so u get a few moore on this one.🤣🤣👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You should consider making a trip to Owosso sometime to catch the GLC SD40s
It’s good to see the engineers brought a chainsaw with them to use in clearing away a fallen tree blocking the line.
beginning of vid what line goes to the left
47:50 theres a drone at the tracks, maybe it belongs to a railfanner?
Felix Sun how the hell you spot that ?!!!!!!!
Nice video, and i am willing to bet that this track did not look anywhere NEAR this good in late NYC or PC days?
They were the worst that's for sure as far as maintaining the ROW!!
The tracks r in way better condition now
Does anybody else have trackage rights on this line seems to be in awfully good shape. Did not look like it had ever been signaled?
cool video
Phillip Lee i’ve ridden behind a nickel plate road GP30 heritage unit # 901 @ the Lebanon Mason & Monroe Railroad in Lebanon Ohio
Whats the speed limits on these trains?
Would be nice to know the track speeds in the various sections.
Be neat if kbs railroad let ya do this also
Quincy? It said coldwater Michigan not Quincy. I see an error here.
How did you get to do this with out the FRA Giving you a willful violation for electronic devices on operating locomotive.how is this Legal
@Mike B because I myself got In trouble for that very thing I guarantee the FRA would think Different Just a matter of time they're coming down on you guys that play on your phones and video cameras while you're working you need to look into the FRA rules or i can give you the number and you can show them your videos and see what happens i bet you wouldn't do that. Iam Retired from the railroad I know the rules very very well i was A SLE went went by the rules. Good luck to you
@@reconmodelsvaughn469 Simple: Because he's not a member of the train crew.
How did they manage to see the fallen tree with enough time to stop? Why is it they happen to have a chainsaw with them? I wonder if fallen trees are something they encounter often on this line.
larrysbk Being a small short line railroad, they probably do not have a large, well-staffed MOW crew like CSX or NS at their disposal 24/7 so they have to be prepared for such issues.
My guess as you alured to this spur is mostly wooded o either side.
afternoon storms can get some wind. Id guess as you "dont leave home without it"!
👍
Fallen tree on the line -
UK - All rail services suspended for 2 or 3 days while various health and safety executives etc go on site to evaluate and perform a myriad of risk assessments.
USA - Driver gets out and just chainsaws that shit out of the way!
47:50 I wish the train crushed the drone lol!
ياك الطرقان خاوية والزامر علاش !
That's a long way around to just short of Coldwater. I was wondering why it too 2 hrs, because Fremont is only about 25 miles down I-69 from Coldwater.
