Mine came out perfect this year. Filled one side and put the top on. Only greased it - no flour. 5 mins to cool, then took the top off. Went around the edges with a knife. 5 more mins and flipped it over. No breakage. 5 more mins and then put it upright on a platter. Voila!
Thank you. Ive done this wrong for 30 years. Always filled and baked both sides flat and glued them together with jam. And toothpicks before baking...genius!
Glad to help!
Thank you! I'm making a lamb cake for Easter, and this had exactly the information I needed :)
You are so welcome!
My god I love the idea of tying the halves together! I usually end up with a bit of a blow out!!
Eggcellent!! I found my very old lamb mold and looked you up to use it! Thanks❤️ Happy Easter 2022
This is so cute!
Really only 11 comments? I gotta believe that there is a lot more people fucking up their lamb cake.
Recipe for face please
THANK YOU for the idea supporting the head /ears with toothpicks.👍.
What kind of cake mixture did you use ? It looks very firm 👏
It is a orange pound cake. You can see the recipe here: www.midcenturymenu.com/golden-orange-lamb-cake-a-vintage-easter-recipe-test/ If you want to use a cake mix, you can use this recipe: www.midcenturymenu.com/sour-cream-cake-mix-lamb-cake-a-vintage-recipe-test/
Thanks so much! I'm baking one and turns out my family was doing it wrong for years lol!
This is so cute, love the pastel mini marshmallows. i just recently discovered your blog, love it! I'm also a big fan of anything mid-century. My dream is to own one of those awesome MC rancher homes (think Wonder Years...or even Walter's house in Breaking Bad, lol)! Looking forward to more MCM recipes!
Thank you! So glad you liked it!
i fuckin love that
I have my mother's cast iron mold. I never have to tie it together.
Oh wow. How blessed you are. :)
@@catherinejasin2606 right? The Good Old days! Ours are Aluminum...
I did a Bunny Mold, cake & had 2 different directions, the Wilton's & the Poundcake mix'es..Not fun 5-6 cups, needed Box does not state that..My Bunny stuck @ the Butt area as did yours & the back also cracked in the middle...& frosting canned was a bit of a challenge, too...I used Healthy Butter spray & flour, & that I believe waz a No No, too! Last wilton video in here she stated to use vegetable spray..& flour..Hard paper directions state use shortening! Was a bit of a challenge, But got it all together afterall! Great Tip for Wood placements! Thank You! 4-7-21
Every time I bake this the lamb topples over despite following these instructions after frosting and decorating it. Don’t know what I’m doing wrong!
