Extreme smoking by KZJ ALCo @ 103kmph with Udyan express !!!

- Its a 3rd case in a row for me , expected a EMD but got an ALCo that too a KZJ one !!! This time its SBC bound 16529 Udyan express running about 35 min late with KZJ WDM3A taking the off link honours of the day .... But to be true i got what the ALCo is typically famous for , the huge smoke as it accelerates on the up gradient and belts past me at around 103kmph :) :) Was a classic display of smoking by the KZJ Demmer :) :)

Love the way the guy on the track gets up very calm and composed while the train is approaching at high speed. Thats a daredevil right there :)

I love the way that the camera zoom makes it appear slower when it's in the distance only to turn into a fast moving snarling beast as it closes in! To add to the efffect, I live near a HST line and one just went past (a BR Class 43, unfortunately minus the original Valenta diesels)

Excellent footage Sant. Love the foliage, instead of the usual trash laden tracks. There is always one joker who insists on sitting at or near the tracks.
"what a smoke",lovely action over the gradient with super zoom effect.
Trains do not brake on this section unless they have to stop or slow down for a caution order. They maintain 90-110kph throughout. Besides, there is not need to 'control downhill speed' when he has to accelerate a couple of seconds later. Plus, there are no sparks anywhere in this video.

What's remarkable is how the huge use of fuel and terribly incomplete combustion begins exactly as the engine hits bottom. It doesn't waste even 3 seconds before it begins. Kind of surprising to me given that it's got us such a full head of steam and speed. It could could easily coast a ways at the start of the upgrade - but no!

Most definitely, the loco started accelerating to maintain speed on the next grade and in the process, revved up from idle to full power, which is why it smoked like that. 5rpm to 8rpm? LOL.

Rainer Lampatzer Every reserved coach has a chart with your name and seat no. mentioned on it while boarding. Coach no. is specified on your ticket whereas seat no. is mentioned on the chart of that coach. So its not that tedious. Except for 1 or 2, all are reserved coaches.

@Theabcmatt hi.This loco is ALCO based loco. ALCO is from USA. KZJ is code for a station in India called Kazipet & this loco is based at the loco shed at KZJ. WDM is code for loco type - W - wide, D - diesel & M is for mixed traffic - passenger & freight. India is the only country with broad gauge track (courtesy the British Empire) in the world for which W is used. Loco types you will come across are WAP, WDP, WDG, WAG, WCAM & so on. Google India loco types to get more information.

If a locomotive engine revs to anywhere near 5000rpm, it would explode :P The max rpm for these locos is in the region of 1500rpm. :D
You must be right. It looked like it had just climbed up a hill, but since it went so fast it must have been a very small hill. That amount of smoke must mean a clogged air intake filter? I think that engine needs service.

A medium built locomotive can carry up to 35 vagons,high power build locomotive can do 75-100 over like Softrans Carpathia (8kHP)or UP BIGBOY (even with steam engine still had 6k HP or many other locomotive that are build for grip and strength).
I still dont know India's most powerfull Engine regardless the type of propulsion...

the WDM3A looks very similar to the alco rsd 16, don't know if the WDM3A and the rsd 16 have the same engine

@19665600 I know Pakistan has the same track system - but what is the worth of the railway system wherein they seem to be crumbling - saw a recent new item wherein they are importing locos on hire from India!! So did not consider it worth mentioning....
