    Very helpful! Who knew?! I've been pinning wrong and that could be the cause of my inconsistent flying geese. Great, succinct tutorial. Thank you!!

    I thoroughly enjoyed this vlog. I don’t have an accucut or an embroidery machine, but just hearing what you’ve been up to since I tuned in and watching you piece and really talking quilting was nice! Thanks 😊

    Great demonstration, thanks!
    I love that Creative Grids seam guide! I use it all the time for marking lines. It's so easy to line up the fabric corner through the gap in the ruler.
    Question about using steam. I don't put water in my iron, instead I use a spray mister. So I'm wondering what your thoughts are in comparing steam/spray misting fabric. Does using a spray mister have the same effect on fabric that steam in the iron does?

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  Рік тому

      My philosophy is that any time you use moisture of any kind, it makes the fibers 'forget' where they are supposed to stay. If you spray, and then do a diagonal push or pull with your iron, the fibers will push and pull with the iron's movement and begin to look like a flat rippling stream. That's a disaster for quilting triangles of any kind. Even without moisture, I only use a horizontal or vertical movement with the iron to minimize torquing the fibers.

    • @jennystrahley927
      @jennystrahley927 Рік тому

      @@PowerToolsWithThread Thanks for your reply, Becky. It makes perfect sense. I only use my spray mister when I'm pressing completed blocks but they do get wonky sometimes. I will remember your horizontal/vertical movement tip. I'm from the old school of ironing my cotton clothes when I was much younger, which makes it hard for me to remember to PRESS my seams. I'm trying to remember to be kind to my quilting seams. 😊 Happy Easter!

    I have not used this method but love that it saves so much fabric, saw it on Kimberly’s channel recently and I will certainly be using it from now on. Thanks for sharing. Love your channel and thanks for all you do for us. Old dogs can learn a new trick, if they are inclined, Green Bananas.

    Perfectly shows how sewing to the inside of the line makes all the difference in the outcome. I always smile when I hear quilters say they don’t like sewing garments because it’s hard to fit…. Yeah well, unless you use these tips, keeping quilt blocks to size is not always easy either! Lol

    Great tip , thank you ! I am always frustrated at the amount of waste with “normal” flying geese so I love your method and will apply it next time I do them !

    If you don’t have a marker but have a heat dissolving pan, do you follow the same rule… see on the inside line?

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  Рік тому +1

      Since the inside edge of the line is the same, regardless of whether you use a marker or a pen, it shouldn't matter. A marker is just easier to see.
