All great, of course. Allan and Frank have always been my personal favorites. Derryl should be more recognized than he is as he is extraordinary. When I first saw Allan play with the Tony Williams Lifetime in 1976, it was truly life-changing!
INDISPUTABLE! - On guitar, Allan was the elitist fusion guitarist, the inventor of his own unique theory-scales-chords-compositional works-soundscapes, the brainchild triumphant in creating guitar techniques that transformed the fluidity and legato diversity of guitar to the idealistic articulation of genre-defining saxophonists' as Parker, the trendsetter of pioneering technology as the Synthax Guitar. Holdsworth ranks amongst the elitist peers that were indeed the central canon to the whole jazz-fusion movement: his fusion guitar is eternally immovable from the summit simply due to it being the DNA of fusion; his name, of course, Stands Alone IMMORTAL.

Exactly. I would have had Holdsworth as number one and Gambale, McLaughlin and Al Di Meola(don't know the order. Probably would have had Gambale 2, McLaughlin = 3 and Al De at 3). Don't know who I would have at the 5th spot.
@@thewestfaceofdhaulagiri6697 Larry Coryell was hugely important to the birth of fusion guitar. Al Di Meola definitely needs to be there also.
