A smartly designed, tricky puzzle. I made one mistake. IIRC I connected TACKLE, RUN, PUNT and PASS as football plays. I thought for a while there might be 2 Football categories which would be a first, I believe. Took a lot of thinking and re-thinking for the solve.
WOW! What a comeback - congratulations!!! I actually got all these really quickly after waiting on the football stuff because there were so many crossovers.
I got the yellow and green categories. I know very little about American football and I had not heard about using punt or table as a term for postponement.
I hadn't heard this use of "punt" either. Finally I sorted out the other categories, so that was the only place left. Apparently, several people are aware of this usage. I continue to learn from this game. 😊
I found this one to be easy. A decent understanding of American football was helpful. At least you knew the term "Hail Mary." As an fyi, "safety" is one of the defensive backs. In a straight forward man-to-man defense, one safety covers the tight end and the other plays a little deeper in order to help his teammates cover the other receivers.
@@auldfouter8661 That's actually a good observation. There is a play called a "naked bootleg" which comes to mind. In this case the word naked just means no blocking. The play's success depends on deception as the runner has no help from his teammates.
I love the puzzles that take a bit. I went yellow, green purple blue. I concentrated on the non football words first. I tried a category called things you do in a meeting. It didn't work. A very fun puzzle. I have heard of a punt as a delaying tactic.
This was a tricky difficult one, took me forever to solve, I though I was going to have to throw in the towel, but I finally figured it out, difficult one for sure. ❤
Got this after a bit of a struggle. American football terms are obviously dodgy for me but fortunately i have learned lately that " to table a motion " in the US means the complete opposite to what it implies in the UK. Here , tabling a motion means introducing it and putting it up for discussion.

I agree. 😊
When you were down to your last chance with 3 Connections to go I kept repeating
"You can do it, You can do it!"
A GOOSE EGG for me.😂

Perfect 1/1 for me.
Phenomenal comeback! Way to go!
Great comeback, Doug! Enjoyed it!!
I hear you.
Art has some followers in this game who are BRAINS!😂
I could tell they were intertwined so I took my time and got it in 4

Also got down to one mistake left but achieved a phew! Solved the purple, “postpone,” first, and the football category last.
This one was real easy for me. Got the direct chair, the football positions. Just fell into place.
Wow, that was a great comeback. I unfortunately failed horribly and only got 1 point for the easy category.
Took all my guesses, but got there in the end. It really didn't help being British this time.

American football terms are so funny to British ears and just sound filthy.

Tricky tricky! The categories were very closely intertwined- squeeked by with one try remaining

This was a really tough one, totally stumped me!

@ITcanB. Same here. American football isn't exactly my specialist subject - ditto baseball. 😂🇬🇧
With this puzzle knowing football was also an obstacle, because there were too many possibilities.
You got the RAINBOW OF SHAME bwahhahahahahahahahahahh 😆😆😆😆😆

I always learn something from you. Thanks!! 😊
I got the green first, then the purple, yellow and blue last….
9 minutes in and you were nowhere. You are redeemed
When you made those mistakes I kept looking close at the video to see if you would become RED-faced. You didn't really, which is OK.
