stock trader here…i can confidently say 90% of retail traders who just got into it will lose all their money eventually, it is worse than gambling because of the use of margin/leverage on their accounts. It is a lot easier to just invest/buy and hold index funds for the long term and focus on your full-time job

what's even crazier is ExtraEmily easily earns more than what she owes to her parents yet won't pay it back in cold hard cash (also earns more than XCM easily) while XCM pays off his mother's debt without any second thoughts
I dont know about extra Emily's situation, and however much I admire XCM for taking on his mother's debt, as well as family -- this is fucked. Running away to live alone is NOT an option, but having to even try paying said debt while starving yourself is not healthy. Family first, but think about it like a utilitarian -- if you're giving light to a black hole, all you're doing is losing energy until you have nothing left to give. Forgive and love them, yes, but don't consume yourself in the act -- help yourself before you can help others. I've never lived with an addict in my family, and i'm so lucky to be able to say that.

The only issue with this is that XCM’s mom was an idiot. She took almost all the earned cash that her son made and threw it all away. Now HE has to foot the entire bill.
