What a perfection .. thanks a lit
Thank you I was just looking for the written pattern under the video 👍🤗
Thank you
I made an alteration to the pattern that I really like and wanted to share. Anywhere there is a single crochet, replace with a half double. The single crochets set slightly below the height of the top most part of the cables and I know it'll get fixed in the final row but I like the way the half double looks, I enjoy doing it more than a single crochet, it evens the row height and gives a bit more height when working the single crochet rows.
Excellent advice. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Michael
@@TheCrochetCrowd np, thank you
@@thryssinstitches9655 Thank u so much, so the row of sc (ws) do u also make hdc?
@@leboanna yes the rows in-between the cable work that is just sc all the way across I also did hdc
Part of the height issue was my fault in the choice of my yarn. I used lion brand feels like butta and the yarn just collapses on itself. It takes ages to get height out of it.
I just want to thank you so very much Mikey for being the AWESOME teacher that you are! I’m a beginner to all things crochet but I fell in love with this pattern and thought that’s too advanced for me but decided to try it and with your instructions I was able to accomplish it and I LOVE it!! Thank you so much for sharing this and giving me something beautiful to be proud of!
Just a note to thank you for making and sharing this video. I don't think I could have figured it without your patient and thorough instruction. ❤
This is so super helpful! I'm better at learning visually than by reading. Reading the instructions for this pattern confused the hell outta me. You make crochet so much easier ^_^ Thank you for all the work you do.
Thanks for the video. It would be great to see one row of the back after there is cross over for the cables to see how this is done as it becomes quite confusing in row 5.
I love this pattern and will be making this for my sectional. I love the symmetry of these kind of patterns.
I made this with Lions Brand Heartland, Grand Canyon (a really pretty gold color with darker flecks blended in which gave a great textured look to the blanket) for my cousin's 50th Anniversary. I NEVER would have attempted it without your FANTASTIC video guiding me! Thank you!
Very nice! I'm glad the tutorial inspired confidence in you.
If you don't like how the back side has flaps from sc row I figured out how to work it in so all sts are flat and together.
When working sc row:
When you come to the 9 cable sts before you sc; go through sc from previous row, yarn over, pull through one loop, yarn over and pull through one loop again, then go through first cable st on main row and pull through all loops.
Hope this helps!
Thank you for leaving this great tip behind.
When you crochet your stitches always look so relaxed. Your tension is perfect. Unlike mine, I tend to struggle with each stitch.
Same! This is definitely my most challenging project to date.
I just made this for a Christmas gift. Works up fast and is easier than you think. Loved it.
It really is.
Wow....that was some fast work!

Helpful tip for anyone who missed a stitch! So in one of the rows I accidentally skipped the stitch (I call it #5) that comes before the skipped stitch in the moose track section. Well I did the whole rest of that row and the whole next row of single crochet across. It wasn't until the following row when I went to do the moose track that I realized my error. Instead of ripping out all of two and a partial rows here's what I did. I went back to my single crochet row (the missed stitch is the row below this one. I hope this is making sense) and I did a double crochet down (like a spike stitch I guess) in the row where I missed it then kept on going. Giving me that stitch back for my current row. You can't see it in the front. Doesn't look any different. You can only see it in the back if you know where to look very closely.
Thank you for your valuable insight. You will never comprehend how much your advice will help, even if no one responds. :D
@@TheCrochetCrowd aw np and thank you!
I do corrections on the sc stitches if I skipped or made an extra stitch. I remember what Mikey says "Fake it til you make it!"
Love your soothing, encouraging voice; I have always wondered how that cable cross stitch was made! After crocheting the single, double, and triple stitch for over five decades (those were the only ones I knew; I am cryptlexic so could not read written instructions), I am so excited about trying these new stitches I have learned. THANK YOU!!!!
I'm glad the tutorial was able to take. you through a barrier.
Going to print it out right now! Thank you!!! ❤️
Love, love, love this pattern! Thank you.
So glad!
Perfect timing on this one. I've been wanting to do a cable blanket. I had a pattern for a bedspread size blanket, but treble post stitches just looked too hard for me and with only a pattern to go by, I couldn't make sense of it. Thanks!
Thank you. Another helpful tutorial. You show us all how easy it is to make cables.
Glad it was helpful!
So happy you are the host! I loooove youmikey!❤
Thanks Mickey. Beautiful cable work.
Thank you for explaining the design, by far this is the most easy pattern to follow. I like the way you explain it, so I'll be sticking to your videos in the future 🙂
The most helpful thing I learned from this video, is the idea of working stitches into the chain gap instead of the chain itself.
Yes, go into ch 1 sp, not the ch.
This is a great tutorial and SO easy to follow!!! Thank you!! I'm starting mine in red right now :)
Thanks.
Thank you so much!!! Your tutorial made it possible for me to “get” this pattern.
Love this blanket . Perfect and I love the colour. Thank you❤️
This is beautiful 🥰. I had a few attempts , but I think I need more lessons 😩. I’ll be back ! Xxxxx
Love this pattern!!!
OMG, I was just trying to figure the multiples on this one to make a baby blanket! I was SO close, I came up with 20+ 22. That turning chain always gets me!
Why wouldn’t this just be twenty plus one?
@@debbiesheets5585 because then you would miss the mirrored repeat on one side of the blanket
Oo yay!! Cant wait to make this!!!
You do wonderful tutorials...I have been watching for a few days...your amazing on helping someone new like me to understand ...Thank you so much..
I'm so glad!

This pattern is amazing, I'm making it in white (velvet yarn). Thank u so much for sharing and the instructions are so easy to follow. Stay blessed 🙏😊
Wonderful!
This video is perfect! Typically I’m very good at written patterns but I just couldn’t get. Thank you!
You're so welcome!
Beautiful blanket......I love Mikey.
I LOVE this! Thanks so much Michael for doing this! Blessings from Texas!!
Awesome,want to start this soon.
I have watched this so many times and can’t get the hang of it 😩
I do love the cables!!
I really love the look of this blanket myself.
You do a great job of making your instructions clear and understandable. I am going to try this. Thank you!
I love this pattern. I'm going to crochet cushion covers with it. Thank you so much.
Looks great cant wait to try it starting today
Let us know how you do.
I love this!!! I love the larks foot too. That color of yarn makes your stitches pop and it's quite beautiful Mikey. I believe I'm starting to understand patterns a little better through your videos as well. I would love to try this. Tyfs God bless you
Beautiful!! Like it very much, thank you for sharing sweetie
Thank you so much 😊
Os seus trabalhos são um espetáculo tô aprendendo muito contigo
Muito obrigado Elenilde.
Currently doing my second attempt at this pattern! On my first attempt I used the yarn I had on hand, which was WAY too thick for this… I would have had to use 10+ balls of yarn to complete the blanket (I had already started it with 141 chain length)…I finished one whole roll by row number six 😭 At this point I decided to abandon it and restart with a different yarn.
I also repeatedly miscounted and had to do the first few rows over again because of it… twas not fun, but certainly a learning experience….
This second attempt seems to be going much better with the lighter weight yarn! I miscounted again on the first row (lol) but I rolled with it this time instead of redoing it all, so instead of having two single stitches on one end, that side will have three singles after the two front post doubles. I don’t mind the unevenness much so far.
In both iteration, I found it weird how there’s flaps on the wrong side of the blanket where the front post doubles are (?) the flaps did make the first wrong-side rows of single stitches a bit confusing, but I got the hang of it. It still does look a bit weird to me at this point though…
I’ll update when I’m finished with the blanket!
The flaps! That was my question. How do you get rid of the flaps? This is my second attempt at this pattern and I don’t think I’ll ever use the blanket with the flaps threatening to grab my toes when I throw it on.
So I crocheted my "wrong side" single crochets to the "back flaps" because I thought that was correct. (Also did this to the two end fpdc area.) Seeing this, I now know it's not. However, it looks SOOOO much better! It creates a kind of single crocheted "pocket" that covers that braid. And no looming flaps to catch anything on!
Thank you for making cables easy! I've always shied away from patterns that include cables. Ifeel very confident now and I'll give this pattern a try👍
Beautiful 😍
I love this
Thanks so much
Thanks a lot. Love your work! 🤍
Thanks so much. I'm glad you found this helpful.

Beautiful blanket🙏❤️
Thanks Suzanne.
Great pattern and great videos from Mickie as usual... :) I can't seem to get the right stitch count after going back across the cables on the even rows... I would love to see a video of that part...
Me, too. What should the stitch count be? The 139 as mentioned in the set up?
Hwhat a neat and beautiful work. Congratulations. 👏👏
Thank you very much!
gorgeous
Yeah it's neat.
How beautiful. Thanks Mikie for your always helpful instructions.
Hello friend
I remember that larkspur stitch lol. It was in your study of planet earth which by the way. I am still working on. Now I understand that larkspur stitch
Hello Ruth
@@traviseddy6447 hello
LOVE!!!!❤
Thanks so much.
I LOVE this pattern! I was a little intimidated at first, but the video directions are super helpful. I just love how the blanket came out. Thank you!
Yes he makes it look simple. I have a cable pattern that is more complex this this one that I would love to make, so watching this video is very helpful. Only problem is I am left handed, so crocheting is a challenge already, having to do every thing opposite.
Hopefully this will help you with your future pattern you have in mind. Best wishes.
@@TheCrochetCrowd
Yes, this left handed version looks to be helpful. Will definitely test this left handed pattern. Love this cable pattern to and how you took the time to explain the pattern graph and step by step instructions. The pattern I purchased is a Celtic twist cable throw and seller only posted a small section of 10 stitches on doing just the twisted cable. Was not helpful or answers questions.
Thanks and keep on posting helpful tutorials for us to view and practice.
Many designers won't answer questions. I'm unsure what's up with that. Happy to make designs but little or no pattern support. I'm unsure if people monitor their content to find errors when someone messages. Know knows. My crystal ball doesn't know that question. Wish I did though.
I sincerely wish that the reverse was also shown 😕😪as where cabling is done it is an issue 😕🤔with me
I agree .. Mine is so bulky in the back that I am not sure I'm doing it right
@@manic14ful mine too I’m ready to rip it out and do something else! I tried anchoring on the sc rows.
I absolutely love the pattern how do I get the actual pattern, again a beautiful pattern and clear instructions
Thank you for showing such beautiful patterns. I am crocheting a cardigan with this pattern. But some how my stitches keep increasing. Might made mistakes in the moose trek stick and the braids. Any suggestions?
Maravilhoso
Thanks so much.
Can you change colors as you go along??
When you are on row 2 and single crocheting every stitch, what do you do when you go over the braided part? Do you crochet into every stitch or just the one closest to you? Just need some assurance. Thanks!
If you see the diagram provided, you are crocheting into the braid stitches.
Hi I'm on set up row 3. I'm confused on how many stitches should be between the track stitch to the cable stitch I think I am missing one or not doing enough
When you're doing the single crochet on the back stitch, are you supposed to pull the layers of the cable stitches together or just single stitch on the front one? Does anyone have a pic of the back?
You are using the tops of the cable stitches. I don't have a picture of that back.
Beautiful! I started this pattern and can’t wait to finish it! Question about fringe, I’ve never put fringe on a blanket I’ve made, does it hold/ together after you wash the blanket?
If you are planning on washing it. I would leave it off.
Hi..on row number 2…. As I’m going back across with all SINGLE crochet…at the criss cross cable..it’s very confusing as to WHERE to put the single stitches….do they go into ALL the stitches ,i see 2 rows..do i leave it open or??…
I am wondering that too
Love the cable pattern, but I don't do blankets, takes to long, lose interest. Can you suggest a cardigan pattern with cable down the front each side. I have been looking and can't find anything. thanks
I'm struggling with the single chains on the back side when I get to the cross stitched part. Any advice? Maybe I did the original cross stitch incorrect as I could go two ways with the single crochet it seems.
You just have to be patient with yourself. I think once you fully know what you're looking at, it will get easier.
Same problem I’m having at the crossed cable..doing the singles across..as i look down i see two or three rows..WHERE do i put the single stitches!?..do i close all of it up?..I’m soo confused..
I think i am doing something wrong on the even rows. It is causing a bunch of ridges at the front posts in the back. Am I going in the wrong stitches?
@Terry Padelio I was wondering the same but if you look closely in the video around 28:47 you can see his work also has the ridges where the cables are. :)
I am currently making this blanket. I am several skeins into the blanket and I just realized that it may be a bit smaller than I wanted. It will be a throw. I am wondering how would I add a border to it? What kind of border would you recommend? Thank you for the video.
I would focus on a single crochet border evening spaced around with 3 sc in each corner. Then build it out from there The pattern is really busy so adding too much to the border may take away from your work,
I have the printed pattern, but I want to make it a little wider and longer. I can just add 40 more to add two more sections of cable and braids? Want to make sure my math is on lol thanks for the video. Makes more sense now.
I'm at low 5 or 6. My cable areas are pulling in. Is that normal for cables and it'll straighten out as I go or do I need to pull way up to have it looser?
Sounds to me you are bit tight. It should just lay over and not force it together. Just try giving a bit more slack.
@@TheCrochetCrowd I'm almost totally blind and my braille labels won't stay on my furls lol. Turns out I'm using a 5mm hook not 5.5 though my yarn is a bit thinner. It's the feels like butta. I didn't frog it because of how far into I was. It's much better but the bottom several rows are curled up. Would blocking fix this? Or will adding the tassels do you think?
Has anyone done this in a varagated yarn? Would like to do this but kinda want to use the variegated yarn.
Just try a swatch. I find with variegated yarn the texture can be lost. However, that's a personal choice.
Approximately how many rolls of yarn did you use to finish the entire blanket, like can you tell me what brand etc and how many rolls
Hello. Thank you for this helpfull video. Could you please recommend me another yarn? Cause Caron one pound yarn is not available in Greece. What about drops or alize? Is there any suitable type of these yarns?
I'm unsure about those two brands. I haven't seen them to give you perspective. It's part of the world of being global that we have limited opportunities based on location. It's a Number #4 Medium Weight yarn if that helps you in anyway.
In the singe crochet rows (WS), are we going into the stitches behind the cables, or into the tops of the actual cables themselves?
Tops of the cables. If you see the crochet diagram that is provided, that may help you to visualize that as well.
@@TheCrochetCrowd Yes, it did, thank you! I am well into the project now. Very helpful!
thank you for asking and answering this. it wasn't clear and I went behind with the single crochet and git a few rows done before realizing that must be wrong.
I like the way this pattern looks on the front, but not so on the back. I got all kinds of rigdes behind the cable. Am I doing something wrong?
Me too. I think we are doing something wrong when doing the single crochet on the even rows.
@@sherylhoffman1339 I watched the video a few more times and noticed that it was in fact smooth on the back on Mickey's project didn't. So, what I did was keep 2 separate rows, one for the front and one for the back. Sometimes they converge, but for the cable they are separate.
Hey😁 if I want a wider blanket is I correct I can make 160+21=181 stitched for this beautiful blanket🙏😁
I’m unsure this is a question or if you are sharing fir other crocheters who find this update if they want the same.
Excellent video!
I can't seem to get the right tension. It is rolling where the cross cable are. I am not stitching particularly tight... any suggestions?
Thanks for sharing the video.
It will in the beginning of the project. It should flatten out the more you do.
Can anyone show a photo of what the back/wrong side of this piece looks like? The front of mine looks correct but the back has little rows that stick up/are not attached to the next row along the woven cables.
You cannot post photos on this platform but from what you are saying that's correct. If you go to my recent video of the Mystery Crochet Hat. i did cables and near the end of the video, I flipped the hat inside out to attach the pom poms. It would look just like that.
I am glad I found this video as I was trying to read the pattern and failed badly.. thanks Mikey!!
Glad I could help!
I have a question for you Mikey :)
I like to do a chainless foundation to start. Can I do this in sets of 20 stitches plus 18 then start with a chain of 3 or a standing double for the first stitch?
I'm not 100% sure. Try a small swatch of it and see how many chains are used in the regular chain that you don't need if you do it with foundation instead.
@@TheCrochetCrowd sorry. I'm just seeing this now! It all worked out.. I'm well underway :). But I put it down and made 2 baby blankets in the meantime lol. The pattern is gorgeous! And your videos are invaluable xx
Love this pattern and I’m about halfway done with the project. But it looks like my blanket “leans”. All of my counts are accurate and on point. I’m hoping that if I wash and block this when I’m done that will correct it. Any ideas why this is happening?
It does have a slight lean to it. It's not you. it's the concept. It means you are doing it right.
I wanna try this! 😻 but I'm having trouble with the materials, what other yarn can i use because caron one pound is not accessible to where i am 😭
I’m sure you can use any 4 weight yarn you want. 🙂
Any size 4 should work. Just make sure you buy enough skeins to equal the yardage of the Caron One Pound skeins called for.
Thank you so much for this lovely pattern😊. How many yarn I need for this planket?
The pattern details are in the video description with a link to the free pattern. All of your answers can be found there. All of our videos have the video descriptions with the link to the free pattern inside it. Best wishes.
Thank you.
New here. I want to make this into a full size blanket, I'm lost tho when you say 20+21 I'm not sure is this means I count 21 stitches in total or if it's 20 stitches and then I count 21 stitches after that.
When you chain. you chain in multiples of 20... so 20, 20, 20, 20... when youthink you are big enough or want to finish the chain, chain the final 21 and you will have the balance for this pattern to sit evenly.
Beautiful!!!!
Hello my beautiful friend
At ..17:51….. in the video I’m soo confused..as to where to put ALL of the singles..?
What does the back look like when completing row 3 with the single crochet all across? I find it difficult around the cable part to know where to single crochet since it looks like two parallel rows. Please help. This looks like a great pattern but I can't seem to get past this part.
The single crochets fill in the spaces. If you refer to the crochet diagram listed with the pattern, it may be helpful for visualization.
In the single crochet row, are we going into the tops of the cables, or in the row behind the cables?
Same problem I’m having…..😢😢😢😢😢
I used the row behind the cables because who wants that mess on the backside to catch my toes on! Looks so much better! No flaps!
Hi there. Is there a tutorial for celtic weave by the crochet crowd? I can't find it here.
No I don't think I have filmed that.
@@TheCrochetCrowd Do you think you will? Would you consider, please? Thank you - I can't find anything that explains and shows well (or at least one that I can follow).
@@LH-rz6rb I have to find a free pattern that I can legally use. There’s one I know of but the designer doesn’t want me filming it.
Veri beautiful. Кто бы мне такой след подарил? Мечта.💞
I am having a problem this is what I've done so far the left side doesn't seem to be crossing am I doing something wrong or will it work out struggling didn't want to keep going any thoughts or help. Tried to add a pic of what I have can't do it so made it my profile pic does it show?
I have heard people doing the same observation, it's possible this stitch has a slight lean to it.
i am making this pattern as we speak
Awesome.
can i do this pattern on a velvet yarn
Yes, you can. Try a testing swatch to be sure you will be happy with it.
I made mine with cream color. Though I moved a size up for hook, it’s too tight. I thought as I progress it will fix itself. Now I can’t rip it. Any ideas how to make it fall well? I thought my yarn even though it says 4 it is thicker. I used same brand as you. Please help. This was going to be a gift for my niece. It looks stiff n doesn’t fall well.
Blocking has improved the drape on some of my previous projects where my tension has been tighter than I expected.
I am left handed , instead of starting at the right side, would I do left to right?
No continue to follow the diagram like I showed. Diagrams are not left or right. Every other row you have to read in the opposite direction anyway. It will work out for you. It's a myth that diagrams are right and left.
