On August 15th, French Acadians around the world celebrate National Acadian Day with cultural festivities in many French communities in the Maritime provinces. That is what you came across in the city of Charlottetown. Acadians also hold a World Congress at a different French Acadian community in the Maritimes every 4 years. Those with Acadian heritage gather from around the world, including Cajuns, the Acadian cousins from Louisiana, to celebrate the history, culture and resilience of the Acadian people. Many family reunions are held at this time. It is a huge event!
No doubt PEI is one of our favourite places to visit with our RV. I will say though, that they seem to have the most optimistic weather forecasters anywhere. Always seems a little cooler than the forecast is calling for. But we love the place just the same. Continued safe travels.....
Loved this video! Wasn’t the potato pie delicious?! PEI was one of my favorite stops on the Maritimes tour. On the bus tour we had two of the most wonderful tour guides … one of them was a district attorney and she was a gem!!
Little known fact: According to P.E.I.’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, 50% of the roads on this jewel of an island are unpaved. Little known opinion: The red clay “heritage roads” on P.E.I. provide some of the most beautiful vistas. Seek and ye shall find . . .
I am born.and bred A PEI gal, your video captured the great essence of PEI .Its a wonderful place to live and enjoy the highlights shown in your visit
