She's panic stricken that out of nowhere, another child could be taken from her. Yes she "baby's" her, because she's traumatised with grief, and holding onto her "babies" because as they get older, kids get more independent from the parents, and that triggers the Mum's separation fear.
I love watching this show because it makes me realize how well behaved my kids are. I have a 9 year old son and I am so grateful he doesn’t act like this girl at all.

She was taught that bc her mother made sure she was clean.. The problem was that the mother wasn't letting her wash herself and teaching her how to take care of her own hygiene BY HERSELF. She knew being clean was important She just wasn't given the opportunity or the responsibility to take care of her own hygiene. I was teaching my toddlers how to wash themselves as soon as they could start copying how I washed them and understood what I was saying.
The mother hadn't been taught how to "let go" of 1. stifling the child's ability to attend to her own body cleaning and 2. Habitual control-conflict mode (rather than any adult mode parenting) ...... That left the child only 1 option: Assert some independence by OBJECTING LOUDLY (as per mothers own example) & REFUSING TO COMPLY with being baby-bathed.
All kids go through the No Showering Phase. I have seven, and I could hardly understand it at first. My kids laugh because I made them brush their teeth and they would put the water on and tap the brush and pretended to brush. They have no idea why they did it.
I am an elemetary school teacher. I have had so many kids through the years that are wonderfully behaved at school, yet the parents tell me the exact opposite. At school there are rules, structure, expecations and consequences. It would be quite interesting to hear what the teachers of the kids that have been on Supernanny would say. I am sure some would have trouble at school, but my guess would be that many of the kids are perfectly fine at school.
