Lynne Fredrick is hands down the best Katherine of all. I think she is up there as the best portrayal of one of the wives!
My favorite one is Lynne Fredrick because she was actually 17.
Exactly!
Emily Blunt was 19 when her film was made.
@@xxwhispersxx2856 Lynne actually looked the part, played it well and also looked her age. Also can't imagine the real Catherine as a blonde
@@Shane-Flanagan Does anyone know what color her hair was? Almost everything that was made of her was destroyed after her death.
Beautiful girl. Died young, shunned by sick Hollywood, calling her a gold digger because her husband, Peter Sellers, left most to her.
My favourites are Lynn Frederick and Tamzin Merchant
Lynne Frederick as Katherine Howard is proof that it's quality that counts not quantity, with far less screentime than other actresses on this list. In about 20 minutes she was able to create so many layers to Katharine, that I truly felt for her but also seeing the complexities and grey areas. For a movie that limits the wives screentime or deliberately gets them wrong through's Henry's biased memory, it's amazing Katharine gets the best treatment as she sadly gets the short end of the stick in other productions. Angela Pleasance at 30 is not the least bit convincing as 17, also Katharine is portrayed as pretty vindictive that you don't sympathise with her. Tamzin Merchant does the best with what she's given, but the writing made her too bratty and naive. Emily Blunt is one of my favourite actresses (and thank goodness for My Summer Of Love which boosted her career the following year) but is sadly Katherine in name only.
Lynn Frederick e Tamzin Merchant as minhas favoritas
My favorite def is Lynne Frederick. Until now, I have not found a real English rose like her.
I am okay with Tamzin and she kinda added more drama into the story which is interesting.
1:50 I love Emily Blunt, but that never happened. Catherine died bravely, with grace and dignity.
I think they were using a famous painting of Jane Grey(?) as inspiration, hence the blindfold
But I also read somewhere that the painting might not even be of Jane Grey.
Idk, that whole reference is a mess.
Do you rallye know that
@@birgitdzichel7266 Yes, a number of sources say this.
I loved Tamzin Merchant as Katherine Howard! 💞
Lynn Frederick was beautiful, touching and haunting. You want to reach into the screen and protect her from the cruelty of those times.
Tamzin Merchant has the spunk of Catherine Howard.
I've always had a soft spot for Catherine Howard, poor girl 😔🌹
She was much more than her ditzy stereotype and could rise to the occasion and be Queenly when needed.
Lynne Frederick is hands down the best portrayer of Catherine, none compare. A fairly rounded portrayal.
Tamzin Merchant is the poorest portrayal. So much unnecessary nudity. She portrayed Catherine as a spoilt airheaded brat.
That execution scene with Emily Blunt is an insult to the memory of Catherine who died with courage and grace.
I respect your opinion, I just think in The Tudors they were trying to have each queen be unique and different. We don't know what Catherine was truly like in day to day life, only that she was a child trying her best to be a Queen when she likely had no idea what to do as she wasn't born royalty. Nudity is not something to hate on in most cases although I can see how since she is only a teenager it is used to lure audiences in a bit too much. I think Tamzin's portrayal of how Catherine handles imprisonment and ultimately does not break into tears or throw a fit shows that she had grown from her bad experience but sadly too late. I do think Lynne was awesome, I wish the whole movie had been dedicated to Kitty Howard to get to see Lynne flesh out the character even more.
@@emilyelyse Fair enough. Yes the Tudors did want each wife to be different but they made Catherine appear very modern like, many of her gestures and body movements were too modern and just didn't fit the period and surroundings for me. She was also portrayed quite airhead like until up to the point maybe when she was imprisoned. She reminded me of some American Prom Queen rather than a young 15th century English Queen. I'm not hating on nudity, it's common in most historical dramas but The Tudors had Catherine nude too much, very unnecessary.
I half agree with your last statement. Yes, many stories say she died with grace and dignity however she was only 18 or 19. A child. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was crying her eyes out.
@@Ka1tl1n I was going by the chroniclers of the time and eye witness statements and they say she died with courage and grace. If she was crying and scared they probably would've noted it like they noted how Jane Grey momentarily panicked when she could not find the executioners block with her hands
@@Shane-Flanagan that’s fair
I think the first one was silent, yes, and also this was great - really well compiled and very interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Tazmin Merchant did a great job
Not really
Jesus loves u!
Lynne frederick is the best.
Hands down the best 👍
Absolutely. 💕
2:12 The issue here is that Henry is still a young, fit, virile man... In reality, at this time, he couldn't walk without pain, and was grossly overweight. I just couldn't get into the Tutors series.
Jesus loves u!
@@remsour there's no evidence that Jesus existed, so stop it.
@@adunreathcooper its ok not to believe it, i just want u to feel loved and know ur not alone. :))
Lynne Frederick is the best, both in terms of resemblance and performance. While I loved the BBC mini-series with Keith Michell, Angela Pleasance was not convincing. First of all, she was almost 30 when she did that role, and the script made Catherine look like an ill-tempered and vengeful shrew. Binnie Barnes was too tall and cynical, and she was quite older as well.
My Favorite Is Tazmin Merchant, She Was So Adorable As Katherine, Not To Mention Beautiful
Jesus loves u!!
I LOVED TAZMINS ROLE BC IT SHOWED HOW MUCH IT HER CHILDHOOD WAS HORRIBLE AND THAT SHE HAD TO USE HER CHILDHOOD IN HER FUTURE AND STILL BE MOLESTED AND BRUTALLY MURDERED. LOVE IT AND ALSO LYNNE FREDRICK
Lynne Fredrick hits different
TAMZIN MERCHANT!!!
In my book, "Justice Gone Haywire," the first chapter is devoted to Queen Katherine Howard. I try to show that the evidence against her is much weaker than generally supposed and that she may never have committed adultery with Thomas Culpepper or anyone else. I believe, as does Conor Byrne and others, that she was railroaded.
Lynne is my favorite and so is tamzin
I feel like elena should be in like a movie for catherine she did betrayal catherine good even tho is was a documentary and she looks like her a bit
For some reason to me it seems the lighting got worse over the years
the older shows were much brighter i agree.
Thanks for the reply
Katherine looks like a flapper in that second clip. 😂
the best was lynne Frederick with her short time she give katherine so much depth as much as i loved tamzin merchant her portrayal of Catherine was way to ditsy and giggly
Lynne is the prettiest. But Tamzin , well i think she is Katherine Howard
My favorite one is Tamzin Merchant
Jesus loves you 💗
Tazmin Merchand and Lynne Fredrick. Others are toooooo old!
Emily Blunt was around 19 I think
@@zenitrulit2 Doesn't matter. She looked very old,in her late twenties to play Katherine who would have had the youth radiating off her face! Emily's face is too rough and her features make her look atleast 10 years older than she is.
Lynne Frederick 0:47 and Lauren McQueen 2:52 look like teenagers. All the rest actress look like 20+ adults and far too old to be playing a teenager.
Tamzin Merchant looks like a *child* too.
Jesus loves u ❤
So
I'm famous now???
Lynn Frederick was the best and the Tudors was the worst
The bad thing about Tamzin Merchant was the personality and character that she gave to the character because for me she is physically fit to play her.
