I tried this and I still don't know how you got that spring out and back in. It took me hours, even using spring compressors, to replace the top pads with Powerflex items. Though I did it alone, even jamming the wheel down with wood blocks in the arch failed to give the space needed to get it back in, without spring compressors. Maybe just me.... getting everything in alignment was very frustrating.

@@waynecroot: To change the rear springs without much fuss, the whole back end [both sides] needs to be off the floor, this allows the whole suspension arms to drop even further to the ground, thus allowing easy removal of the spring, when a spring is replaced always replace the anti-squeal bush too, these get hammered and usually knackered after 40,000 to 50,000 miles.

Please don't ever take these vids down. I've visited at least three that you've really helped me out with. Thank you.

excellent tutorial thank you for posting . You have shown everything you need to know to change the rear coil spring clearly and fully so I now have the confidence to do the same job this morning on my Ford Focus without fear of screwing it up.

Me and my dad has literally just finished replacing the rear springs on my 2016 ford fiesta ST-line. Easy as pie we did both sides in less than an hour

This procedure is identical for the mk5 (2002-2008) fiesta, in fact I can't tell the difference between the cars once the wheel is off. Good work guys, nice video 😁

Hi tried standing on wheel would not open up enough for new spring would jacking both sides together and undoing both shocks give me a greater space to fit new one in ?

Very good video but unfortunately I have a mk6 and the set up is slightly different. Do you know how I go about removing it? Thanks!

Where exactly do you place the trolley jack at the rear to lift the car?

There is a much easier way to do this and especially if you are working on your own. Just undo both left and right side bottom shock bolts and the trailing arm will fall down and both springs van be easily removed without bouncinh up and down on the trailing arm no spring compressors or a second person required. Your wellcome adios amigos

Is there any other way without having someone stand on the disk during removal?

    • @BumbaRaas-tl4gr

Yes undo both lower bolts at the same time and the long trailing arm will fall down very easy

Why didn't you just go from the middle of the rear axle so you could change both with less hassle than doing a side at a time?

Because if you go off the rear axle then it wont drop and you will never get the springs out.You have to lift from the rear subframe to get the rear fixed beam axle to drop low enough 👍
