Each and every Mad Max movie has its own unique voice, and Furiosa is a great testament to how it utilizes emotional pain and it manifesting inside a singular character through life’s trials and tribulations
Can’t get this film out of my head. It’s hard not to compare it to the masterpiece that is Fury Road but when you don’t and embrace it for what it is, it’s a fantastic theatre experience. Really loved the performances and depth it gave to the world and characters. Definitely the best Hemsworth has been in ages.
Absolutely brilliant movie. It is everything I wanted as far as the lore the wasteland goes. My biggest takeaway from it was how the politics between the three towns was portrayed. It was fascinating that in fury road, these three towns were the bad bad guys and then in this they seem like they were sensible compared to Hemsworths character. My favorite scene in the movie was the bit that seemed like an homage to Conan the Barbarian, where Thulsa Doom shows how strong he is by having one of his handmaidens jump to her death just as Joe makes one of his war boys jumped to his death to show his strength. The scene also shows how the seed for the pursuit of power germinates in Dementus' mind and sets in motion the rest of his characters arc.
One aspect I don't hear many discussing.... the map on her arm. It's no accident that her arm, as a map to The Green Place, being so very valuable, is the arm she loses. The act of her basically leaving it behind works to tell us a lot about where her character is at that moment in her journey. It's also a great ironic moment, as Dementus has the key to the thing he wanted to find so badly, right within his grasp, but he's fueled by anger and the lust for power, so he doesn't see what he has in his possession. I'm a bit surprised we didn't have a shot of the arm/with star map, discarded, swallowed by the sands of the wasteland.
Making Dementus cape a parachute he’s just layered up was really cool. Since a portion of his original gang were aerial warriors. What a fantastic villain!
I loved this film so much. I was expecting to enjoy it but not this much. It blew away all my expectations and will almost guaranteed be a top 3 movie of the year for me. Great review as always from you guys. It really brightened up my Monday. Biting off your own arm is crazy though. I dont think thats something I'll be doing anytime soon.
Well the director did say that the wide bike scene in the desert was inspired by Lawrence of Arabia so you guys are spot on with drawing that visual comparison.
Thank you for saying that about Hemsworth's acting. I left a comment on another video saying that I loved it and I was surprised about how good and different his performance was and someone replied and called it sh*t. And I was thinking "Am I crazy? I really thought it was brilliant!" I'm so happy he got to play this role it makes me really excited to see what he does next.
The film was a CGI mess. bad CGI, characters no one cares about, boring overdrawn story. one dimensional villain that was cringe. Fury road ruled. Furiosa was MEDIOCRE!
@@paulwoodford1984you say "characters no one cares about" when it's you that doesn't care about the characters. They brought back most of the high ranking Citadel people It seems like you didn't notice or were unable to
Great Review, another brillant addition to the franchise. Casting Chris Hemsworth as Dementus was an absolute stroke of genius, he was incredible. A fantasic movie, i really enjoyed this one.
In the heart of the Sea is still Hemsworth best acting performance (the entire cast was crazy good) but my new favorite Hemsworth acting performance is Dementus the bogan Warlord
So sad that so many fury road fan are refusing to see this movie in theaters because Max isn’t in it. Hopefully it will at least find success on streaming so that wasteland gets green lite once people are able to see how much it actually enhances Fury Road with all the world building.
I just watched this movie. I agree with the whole review. At least the first half so far. I also have to say I loved Furiosa's mom. I loved how bad beautiful and bad ass she was and believable. She overpowered her enemies with intelligence, tactics and being an amazing shot but she did not unrealistically over power men with strength. I love when stories show powerful women like this. Always have but in todays culture where too many writers are trying to turn women into men vs appreciating women as women.
Another brutal masterpiece by the most consistently brilliant director in the world. Dementus is a very cleverly designed and portrayed character, a type of personality born out of intense trauma that one can find in the real world. It sounds ridiculous to compare this film to anything else out there (but the films in the same franchise) because the level of sophistication in all aspects of filmmaking on display is completely unique to George Miller. I'd argue he is the most accomplished film director in the world today. If I was nitpicking, I only find it a bit silly that peripheral characters such as Immortan Joe, Rictus Erectus, et cetera, don't seem to age over decades, or display any kind of change in appearance, character, wardrobe... If Immortan was, let's say, 50 years old in the Fury Road, then he was thirty-something at the beginning here, and yet he's already fat, ill, grey and the Citadel is already fully developed... A bit confusing.
Have to admit that I absolutely hated Mad Max way back in 1981 when I saw it the first time, 'cause as a very immature sensitive 18-year-old country Aussie girl, I was totally traumatised by it and literally cried my eyes out for 2 hours after... I found it by far the most terrifying thing I had ever seen or could ever imagine!! For the next 20 years the sound of a group of bikes when I was alone out in the country scared the bejeezus out of me!!!!!😂😂
It was garbage. Fury road was so good, So seeing this was a severe disappointment. Terrible CGI. terrible! Characters no one cares about, an over the top one dimensional villain, and overly long drawn out boring story. 5/10
Honestly the pacing was so off for me, additionally the overuse of CGI and bad CGI at that, ruined it. It’s a shame because Fury Road is one of my favourite films.
I actually feel like it makes Fury Road better. I liked the dialogue and the weird turns. Hemsworth was fantastic. Taken together Furiosa and Fury Rd may be one of the best action films ever made.

I loved Immortan Joe in Furiosa more than Fury Road. He seems much more sinister, intelligent and powerful.

im surprised we didnt get the night shot of the arm hanging in the sky itself in those frequent deep blue sequences

Saw it today thought it was fantastic. As great as Charlize was I can’t see anybody else as Furiosa
