- Unmistakeably, and at the time (1908), unapologetically "English", here is the first movement of Elgar's First Symphony. Today, and uniquely among all the nations of the United Kingdom, English pride is frowned upon - even attacked as "racist" - by the usual suspects.
Why Beauty Matters is a 2009 British documentary film written and presented by philosopher, the late Sir Roger Scruton. In it, Sir Roger argues for the importance and transcendental nature of beauty.
It has been blocked Worldwide by the BBC.

Thank you as ever, Ant, for posting this beautiful music perfectly matched to the perfect photographs.
Thanks for 3 minutes of beauty.
There are still some people - the silent majority - who are immensely proud of this magnificent country, and our heritage, and who we are. This expresses it so well.
👍🏻
I didn't know my Great Grandmother who was English - immigrated to Canada 1920s - But I have a Tea Cup and Saucer of hers that says, "There'll always be an England." Thanks for introducing me to this Elgar piece
Thank you Timothy. Much love to Canada.
