Sony has published the update 4.0.0 two days ago. They fixed the micro stutter problem. And what's the most important update, the PS Portal can now play games over cloud streaming. You don't even have to OWN a PS5! All you need is a Playstation Plus Premium account to play hundreds of PlayStation games... This takes this console to a completely new level...
The PS Portal only has Wi-Fi 5. Sorry to say that a router with WiFi 6E will do nothing for the quality. A much better advice is to plug the PS5 directly through Ethernet and to play as close to the router as possible. Also, don't have 30 other devices competing for your WiFi.

The thing that blows my mind with this whole portal is why you can’t stream anything but games like how hard would it be for them to unlock the feature to let you watch UA-cam or any streaming app I own this device and that is the part that kills me the mostthat’s a simple feature that would make this a lot more valuable

You don't have to haul you p5 with you. It literally n says you have to leave your p5 in restmode the same way as remote play. You can use anywhere in the world with a good internet connection.
A cheap 8" tablet and a telescopic controller does the same thing for the same price. Except you also can stream PC or Xbox and can do anything a cheap tablet can do (media consumption, native/offline gaming, productivity etc).
@@easyygo3008 I don't have a portal to compare, but that's not what I've heard. I've heard a lot of complaints about the portal having stuttering issues. My galaxy tab a9 streams games from my ethernet-wired consoles pretty flawlessly on my wifi 5 connection, but again, nothing to compare it to.

It's not meant to do all of that though lol. I got things that do all of that already. This is just way more comfortable and works. I've tried it before, it sucks compared to this.
I hate that Sony didn’t let you run an Ethernet to USB-C dongle into the PS Portal. A fully wired setup might not look nice, but it would massively reduce lag
@@ipadbossbaby4558 doesn’t negate the portability, the switch can do ethernet via dongle just fine WiFi is still more convenient, but if you want as close to no latency as possible for a specific game, a wired connection will always be better

That was helpful, thank you. It seems every concern I had for portal is still a general issue for streaming games. Honestly, I'm kind of shocked. I remember streaming my PS3 to my Sony Xperia almost a decade ago. I was soo excited by the concept but the lag made it too lesser of an experience.
Don't compare this to the PSP and the PS Portal it's certainly not considered the successor of the PSP. The PSP was true handheld with it's own library games meanwhile the PS Portal is just a plain old streaming device.
I mean I can see this being useful if you travel a lot and wanna game at your destination. I’d rather go for a Steam Deck or, in my case, a Nintendo Switch. Those you can play in the car or on an airplane, not just a hotel room.

@@DaveyG I am doing the moonlight+ sunshine combo to stream my pc on my android tablet. And it can do 1440p+ 120hz with HDR effortlessly. The whole tablet+ controller thing is around 300 usd. It is more expensive but still a better deal than the PS portal imo.

I’ve Ben on Wi-Fi but when i have the PS5 in the living room connected it works even better but for now my Wi-Fi is doing fine luckily I’m the only one that uses the internet I think this is why being on Wi-Fi has worked fine for me Fun product it’s an accessory for the PS5 but it’s worth it for the price I have an amazing time with mine 💯 just make sure you go and set it up on your settings correctly start off with video and sound and then your HDMI output settings so it works perfectly

It works as a “portal” to whatever you’re doing on the PlayStation. So it will work as a 2nd player controller but it will still keep the split screen as the ps5 won’t see it as a second output for video. They probably could down the line but as of now it only sees the ps5 output.

Only complaint I have is that I lose connection sometimes while playing it and then it’ll stop the game a reconnect to the PS5 then jump back in were I left off once it connects. That’s with me having att 1G internet and googles mesh internet extenders. So idk what the deal is with that. Also you can tell when it’s about to start losing connection when the game starts losing its graphics quality.

It works as a “portal” to whatever you’re doing on the PlayStation. So it will work as a 2nd player controller but it will still keep the split screen as the ps5 won’t see it as a second output for video. They probably could down the line but as of now it only sees the ps5 output.
Better hope your game doesnt use the big button on a regular dual sense. They totally missed that and its annoying af.
.... The whole screen is a touch screen and right by each stick is an area dedicated to the "touch pad" . Aka your giant rectangle button.

Only complaint I have is that I lose connection sometimes while playing it and then it’ll stop the game a reconnect to the PS5 then jump back in were I left off once it connects. That’s with me having att 1G internet and googles mesh internet extenders. So idk what the deal is with that. Also you can tell when it’s about to start losing connection when the game starts losing its graphics quality.
