Does the backup battery merely keep the time updated, or will it activate the alarm in the event of a power cut?

It has RDS?? That's awesome. None of the ones here in the US have that, and ours are manually tuned except for the projector model.
Pity about the aerial at the back. It should have a telescopic one - not a cheap wire.
Great review, I have had one of these for several months and love it, the DAB radio works perfectly here in Australia (in Victoria where I live). Just one problem I have is that the clock does not automatically adjust for daylight saving time. We have just turned back our clocks to "normal" time and the clock does not automatically adjust. I tried turning it off to start it from scratch to re-tune and automatically update the time, but when I turned it on again, the clock still displays daylight saving time. I could update the time manually, but I like the accuracy of the automatic tuning. Do you have any advice Zimpaz?
Interesting! Mine has changed automatically. I think it’s done by a fm radio signal. At least here in the UK anyway..do you live in area with good reception? Of course they might not even transmit it in aus
@@Zimpaz, well I decided to manually change the time, and in doing so, it gave me the option of an "automatic" or "manual" update, so I chose automatic, pressed enter and the clock automatically adjusted to the correct time, without me having to enter the hour/minutes. I can live with that, and I still love my DAB clock radio. We do have fm radio here in aus, but I much prefer the DAB stations, so much variety. By the way, I do have another DAB clock radio (also a sony) which automatically adjusts to the correct time without me touching it. :)
All you ever have to do is turn on the DAB radio and the time is transmitted with the digital radio signals. Easy
How do you just turn on the radio?

simple question if the alarm clock is playing music when you unboxed, how do you turn the damn thing off. IN simpler terms how do you just turn the music or sounds off when not wanted

Does it not get the time from DAB?
I want something like this, but i often wonder if it's worth it considering there's alarms and radios on the smartphones we use every single day. :/
It's mostly aesthetics for the bedroom. But still, sometimes my phone never woke me up. And this works without fail.

@@Zimpaz When you say turn off, do you mean completely off, like won't go off the next day, or just don't keep snoozing? Or is there a separate button for that? Is that the sleep button?

Mine did not set the time automatically and did not find any stations.
Probably because here in Australia we are so poor we can't afford an atomic clock and it seems we have no DAB stations.
Depends where you are in Australia. I have a traditional radio with DAB - DAB doesn't work in Darwin either.

As for sound, the worse speaker, of the two is the bottleneck. It is likely we all have better speakers on our computers and phone. If you did play the sound, we would have heard it just fine, but the limiting factor, on your end, is your microphone. So, if you played a public broadcast station, like weather service, you'd be fine.
Don’t buy it screen display fails, normally after warranty, and is not repairable.
