    Honestly she did amazing, it’s definitely nerve racking and humbling to do stuff like this. So good on her!
    And when you’re learning the hardest part (i find) is the transition from trot to canter. She did so good.

    I loved this video! She did SO well in the trot. I think getting a good seat in the canter is difficult in the beginning, especially those trot to canter transitions. Looking forward to more lunge lesson videos!

    Ebby did so well! Her rising trot looks so good since last time. Canter seat just takes while to get used to, maybe it might help if she leans back abit and brings her legs back to stop them moving forward.

    Eby did great. I think this video shows riding is not easy. It's a skill you need time to learn. You also gain confidence the more you ride and get the feel. All us riders started out like this at some point. I think doing a lunge series is a great idea. I think she needs to learn more before hacking to be safe. All us riders know what can go wrong out on the trail. Having the riding skills makes for a safer and more enjoyable ride.

    Your beginner equestrian friend (😉) did great! She was really brave for trying the canter so soon too! I've been back to riding after a long hiatus for the past year, and I'm still working on improving my skills and comfort level at the canter, so serious kudos to her for trying. Maybe next time a few small bounces or cross rail jumps might be fun for her to try!

    Amazing job! My instructor made us do entire lessons standing up in our stirrups - not suggesting that at all (because I'm not cruel) but maybe she could get her confidence up by spending time standing up, bum out of the saddle, in halt or walk? Would really allow her to start trusting her balance and not have to rely on those hands as much! But seriously, if she decides to continue learning she's going to be an awesome rider!

    The respect and patience Erin has is amazing. A lot of people would pressure or push a non rider to do more and "just get on with it" or "you're being ridiculous" if they're scared, or getting annoyed if they accidently pull/thump, etc. I love that Erin gently corrects for Teddys sake, but is so understanding and kind to Eby learning, saying she doesnt have to do it, she can stop whenever she wants, that its a lot and big steps for her. Erin knows its hard, scary, difficult for a lot of people, and respects that with no judgement or mocking and total kindness

    What’s not to like about watching two gorgeous females?
    Reminds me of a time long ago when I was a soldier in W Germany. Two of my troopers decided to join the pony club. Now both of them where Mancunians and didn’t know one thing about horses so I was very dubious as to their motives. I sat both of them down and asked them, ok why? Their first answer I told them was a load of bollox so unless I got the right one they had extra duties, so the truth came out, they had noticed the best looking daughters where the Officers ones and most went to the Pony club which was situated just inside the camps gates.. they asked if I wanted to go down with them ( we where roughly the same age) I said no thanks as I knew they hadn’t a hope in hell of getting off with any of the well bred young ladies in the Pony Club… I will give it to them as they stick it out and went at least once a week.. until the day they kept harping on about their qualifying the next night.. so I said yes I would pop in
    I made my way to the visitors gallery and got comfortable. I won’t bore you all with everything that happened that night but if I can move forward to the two of them walking on top of their horses around the stadium. All went well but considering the average age was about 12 ( they where interested in the older daughters) it wasn’t hard. All was going well until the instructor told them all to canter, there where around 10 taking party so off the pony’s went. On the first round the first one fell off, he lay on the ground thinking a rescue party of cute girls would suddenly appear and look after him.. that didn’t happen so once the horses came towards him again he made a miraculous recovery and ran like hell to get out of the way.. the other trooper was doing quite well until the third circuit when he started to slip over the horses head which led him to end up upside down hanging onto the horses head. In that position he had lost all control of the horse so it just followed the others cantering around the circuit. Shouts of halt, stop, help etc did nothing and the other hung riders carried on regardless.. by this time I was on the floor laughing and round and round the horse went ignoring all his pleas and the staff turning a blind eye which made me suspect they had been annoying to the rest of the group. Anyway I am in convulsions with laughter especially as he past me he shouted Corporal order it to halt. I couldn’t speak never mind order anything but it eventually happened he slipped and fell off. Like his mate he thought lying without moving would stir the mothering side of the girls, but nope not a soul moved.. it was only his mate now limping telling him he was about to get trampled by several ponies give him the impetus to get up and run for it… I had to rub my eyes and my cheeks where sore laughing as I made my way to the entrance… as the others where getting their Rosettes, my two where getting their matching orders from those who ran it. As I walked back with them both, slowly as both where limping I kept bursting into laughter, which did not go down well but their pain healed after a cpl of drinks and they tried to raise the sympathetic nature of our WRAC girls… it didn’t work lol

    Isn't it a good idea to master sitting trot first? I'm just asking ❤

    • @elizaj4431
      @elizaj4431 Рік тому

      Usually in English or dressage the posting trot is done first. Sitting trot is more difficult and for a beginner to do so without bouncing and disturbing the horse. Not only the bouncing on their back but if the rider bounces their hands are flailing and unsteady too disturbing the rein contact. It's thought usually after riding awhile and getting the feeling then learning to sit will come a bit more easily. The rider can also work on sitting the trot and if they lose their synchronicity with the horse and start to bounce up and down or flap about like a sack of potatoes they can go back to the posting they have learned until they get in sync again. One of the main reasons though is young horses or horses starting training are initially ridden posting the trot to take some burden off the back as the muscles develop. Even on trained horses often the warm up is done posting to trot and sitting it only after or well into the warm up. In dressage tests sitting trot for some portion of the test is not required for lower levels like Intro or training/prelim levels. In western I know they post at lower levels of western dressage as I watched a competition last week. But that's about all I know.

    • @Στεφανία-φ1τ
      @Στεφανία-φ1τ Рік тому

      @elizaj4431 yeah I understand that! I mean that it would be better to learn sitting trot before trying to canter, not before learning rising trot.
      I'm a beginner horse rider and the first thing I was taught was rising trot as well!!

    • @elizaj4431
      @elizaj4431 Рік тому +1

      @user-ti7zz9is9b I see what you mean now and it does make sense. Sorry I misunderstood. 😊 I think often people sit canter before they sit much trot because once they get the feeling it's considered easier to sit than the trot. I remember in lessons I too was cantering before doing any real sitting trot aside maybe a few strides before and after a gait change. But I was pleasure riding as well with family and there we would almost always what they called light seat when cantering or galloping and thats how I first started cantering and galloping. A tip I got that worked well was to get the feel of sitting in canter switch between sitting and light seat. So sit and move with horse but if you feel you lost the rhythm and are bouncing go back to light seat and regroup and try again. I've seen some instructors suggest similar since but I think it's not so common in dressage.

    It's the same procedure everywhere: To talk a lot about nonsense and the horse is just an object to (miss)use. Just a slave to carry somebody on his back. No connection, no question, if the horse feels ok. For sure, he doesn't like the bit. Longing, fixed on the bit, is the consequence. Just irritation in the mouth. No signals that make sense. Bad example for beginners.
